Suggestion: Put some support boards under the "new" solar panel. It will probably break as the load will be to heavy when the winter comes. Your boards are connected to "short" to the big construction and will not hold the load of snow.
Agree! Not solid.
Shelter, Water, Power- heat, out-house, and food. The goats, chickens and dogs would need other things to survive but to each it's own. Nice view of the lake and ruggedness of the mountainside, and Alpine Mountain berries are the tastiest. Thanks for taking us along for the views were spectacular.
Hello from Germany from Kakenstorf Hans and Oci topp job...much Power for you...❤❤❤👍👍👍❤❤❤
If you are going to keep saws and things in the shed you might think about how to keep as much moisture as possible from getting in on them.
I agree. So many people don't think about keeping their tools out of the rain and snow, especially in Canada.
Maybe. But where they live is not humid. The ground is so dry that electric fencing doesn’t work.
What a great new logo! Not even a minute in and I was chuckling 😊. You and all your fur friends what a blessing to have this special relationship. The poultry are so sweet, never thought I’d say that having grown up on my grandmas farm, where they were just hens 😉😊. You have the sweetest slice of heaven carved out for yourselves 🇨🇦🥰👵🐶 from Ottawa fan
Thank you so much!
I think you should keep the outside walls up, and close them in.
Also that center pole for the walkway, leave it up and turn it into a table with shelves underneath for storage as well as the one in the back you mentioned. That will give you an El shaped work top in case you have building projects in the winter, you can do them in an included shed/workshop.
What good compost!!!
Slice of Heaven!!🇨🇦🇺🇲💯✌
Great job, as always! Glad Greg's ankle recovered quickly.
All is looking really great!!! Nice to see you getting in some down time hiking & finding the freezing water hole!! Enjoy😎
💚🌱Dogs enjoyed the ride!
Where is the workshop is going to be only take the 2 feet that is boarded up by the door and leave the other 4 feet of the wall up so that you can maybe put shelving or whatever
Thank you for not exposing anything other than your shoddy solar system... that would have been really embarrassing. You're doing just fine, learning as you go. That's what life is all about.
Open the wall up so 4x8 materials can be brought in but leave the rest for strength and winter tarping.
I love the skin tingles when you get out of super cold water!
I think Greg might be a goat himself while I was watching him go down the hill😮. Thanks for bringing us along!🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
The little tiny rooster is my favorite, lol! 🤗❤ Katie, you’re such a boss with the fireman’s hose 💁🏼♀️😂, and I always love to see your beautiful faces. The solar panels are holding up nicely and can’t wait to see you guys add to them! Love you both! ❤
Thank you!! 😊
Who’s campers in the background!!??
It's for visitors
SILLY KIDS...LOLOL!!!! ITS ALL PART OF THE EXPERIENCE..... KEEP ON TRUCKIN, YUR WINNING!!!🤣🤣🤣👍👍🏁🏁🏁
Cutting terraces into that steep hill would make life a hell of a lot easier, not least on the agricultural viability side of things.
Wow awesome video. Never seen that part of the yard
I have learned over time, Anything worth doing is worth doing right the first time. Otherwise you just end up band-aiding it over & over spending more time then it would have taken to just do it right. Most cases it won’t ever get done right till something breaks costing even more money.
I am trying to learn that lesson
You can purchase boot for your twisted ankle online it will help with healing. Orthopedic short air cam walker.
You twocan do anything. Si amazing ❤
My solar panels ae in my garage and on my back porch. They only go out if I have batteries to charge. I lean them against my saw buck. I need to make a better mount for them on wheels.
Good morning u two
Good morning!
Oh I forgot to add you guys are encouraging so many people in the world. I believe to have the courage to do Things on your own instead of hiring people things on their own instead of hiring people.
My son, who is in his 40s, lives in the country now. And he got someone in to clean the chimney
They started from inside the stove and went up the stove pipe
Wow
So I said to my son you're going to have to do it yourself
So he bought himself a scaffold this year
And hes going to do it himself. Good for him even though you live in the country
Doesn't mean everybody knows what they're doing
I believe we should know many things about taking care of our homesteads
When walking in all that brush aren’t you afraid of running into snakes. Paint Brush her babies are so adorable.
You have cool looking chickens!.... good job u2!
Thanks for the. Amazing hike!! 🎉
Love the video!! I hope yall have a awesome day 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I love this family.
Everyone needs to start somewhere.. even vehicle battery solar is a start... establish the tech, understand the tech, upgrade the tech ... all as needed.
You Two work So Hard! Enjoy Anything you put out❤
Enjoyed going on the adventure with you and the dogs. I love you animated logo, very cool. Katie cleared out the meat chicken/goat shed nicely and you have some good ideas for it's use. I was wondering about the moisture in the air possibly causing problems with metal tools etc if as they are stored in there. You should consider how to mitigate that issue. The top wooden support on the solar pannel added seems too thin and I'm guessing it will sag significantly very shortly. Maybe add a cross piece between the upper and lower supports and then run a post to support the pannel to solve that problem? Nice job you guys, always look forward to and enjoy your videos. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
we need a tour of the truck and camper parking lot !!! so glad the bus is gone !!
You two are so cool. God Bless the two of you..
What a wonderful,surrounding....fruits and plus everywhere ❤😊
What a hike 😂, I was tired just watching y’all. The clearing around your solar panels is great now. Momma hen is so pretty with her baby chicks ❤. The tool shed should be closed front for the winter especially. I’m loving what y’all are doing to help you work smarter and not in the elements so much now, looking great, keep up the great work, but do take much needed breaks to replenish your creative thinking of new ideas, breaking during a project will strengthen these creative gifts you’ve been given. Be well and safe and much love and happiness to all ❤
That Rooster cracks me up 😅
Hes a big man in a little body 😂
You guys are the best love the videos and it gives me ideas on building thank you and keep up the good work you two
Did the berry plants and rose bushes anything u like in the woods and put at the back of ur yard!! Tag them and go back and get them in the fall 😊
Great video. Glad you wore a mask cleaning out the goat pen, Katie😊 What does the one solar panel on the backside of the others do?
It's a spare
You guys need to concentrate on what's important like water solar heat and food need to raise those solar panels up higher off the ground
Good Job on Solar
Bet that creek water was cold and felt great
If it ain't one thing, it's another!
Good morning guys
Looks like ya need a mc4 connector tool guys way easier than them pliers , great update people keep them coming we love watching
You are making it harder than what it should be
Beautiful scenery flowers especially. And mr goat overseeing his realm
Great video my husband and I always watch ❤
Pretty cool...weather, animals in the nice camps ground and all else ❤😊
Nice video 😊❤
I just love your vids always something going on....I respect the wat jou treat your animals..they are happy🎉
You guys and your dogs are brave 😂😂
I loved the intro !
well done
I don’t have an instagram account, so i am going to post my vote on the front wall of your work space shed. I think whether it is there or not is going to depend on the length of wood pieces you are ruipping or planing. You guys put some long boards through the planer and tablesaw, so you mind need to move those tools to near the wall, and extend the wood out.
Love the little mushroom :)
Amazing journey
having grown up on a farm I can admit that chicken manure is the worst to handle but it is great for pastures etc..
a good compost container is take some hog/goat fencing and form in a circle and when composted you can just unwrap the wire and use tractor to distribute
i like the new logo and i love the Eduardo intros we've been getting. he really puts his all into every effort.
That panel needs more support than that, especially during winter, what with snow, etc.
Looking at your single strand electric fence. I would add 2 bare wires 1 above and 1 below. Our son worked for the U.S. Park in Alaskabear country living in a military tent on a raised platform. Around the perimeter the fence used 5 wires. The bottom was hot, the second one was grounded they alternated that way so the top was hot. You could drive several ground rods as deep as possible to insure better ground contact. This worked against even the grizzly bears on Kodiac Island.
Enjoy your videos even here in the corn patch of Iowa.
Great video! Great to see people enjoying life. What pump set up do you use ?The spray looked strong.
It's a 2" Honda trash pump with a fire fighting nozzle on the end
Thank you.Keep up the great videos.@@ThisOffGridLife
need an end brace and sport for solar Pannel keeper, wind and rain.
If that odd solar panel isn't the same voltage and wattage as the others, you don't want it in the system. It'll mess with it. Mixing panels will work through another controller, but not in a string.
Love the playful field trips😅
Loved the video. That solar panel looks sketchy on two 2x4s lol . Have yous seen any more bears and wild cats?
We have a bear hanging around lately
Love your goats make me laugh and smile again and again been catching up on your videos seen all the newer stuff but I'm looking at older videos and don't know how you cope with all the mud and having to put wood chips down all the time but I will say that you two get stuff done I was watching the one of you putting tiles down by heck las you can tile better than a lot of blokes I know who do that professionally and that's the truth you guys are great keep it up oh ever thought of a winch for the tractor rather than rocking the one on the quad
Maybe one day, it would be beneficial
I love your chickens, goats and dogs, in fact youroff grid is best!
Did a lot in this video. Thats great, Keep it going, HaHaHa. I see a solar pael on the back of the framing, is that in use, or a spare? With that holside, and the sun exposure, you could install one heck of a solar farm. Branch that power to your out buildings. Thanks for posting.
It's a spare. We started with 3-280 w panels, but bought a bunch of used 250w panels. 1 of the original is for our water pump, 1 is what we mounted on the rack in this video, and the final one is a spare
love your top, what type of boot is those.?
💗💗💗
@ 31:35 interior if home is shaping up time to do a video, is bathroom done, how's the master bed and bath working out, any new closets or appliances all questions that the audience asking / maybe even the great midweek video / I vote YES !!!!
We haven't had time for inside projects, and they'll keep us busy over winter
@@ThisOffGridLife sounds like a plan winter is coming LOL
Hello I really enjoy watching your video today stay safe outthere Rosa olbera
Just because you can doesn't mean you should
I would be a wee bit concerned about the snow and wind loading on your solar array. You could mill out some heavy timbers to rebuild it. Little cost, lotta work.
Like your out fit, and the boots WOW.
That front Wallis load bearing wall! Holding your roof up
saludos,greeg y katy
They always say "if you're going to do something, do it right the first time" I'm surprised you didn't put a vertical brace on the addition to the rack. Or, is that something you're just going to have to come back and fix later?
Dealing with life on lifes terms.. Greg, its hard to not be able to jump from log to rock like we did as kids and it gets a little harder at your age .... that said tho, it will hold on for a good bit till lets just say another ten years go by.. and then Bang! Its a another step back... and if like me for example, by what my body did was at sixty two or a touch more is when my large upper body did that horrible thing called shoulders slide down to the belly button!! Errr... its a hard thing to accept and if you work hard, you can maintain. Some guys just get that second wind and get really large in the areas that you want muscle in. Just live your lives and not worry about it... life is way too short to not enjoy everyday with your Katie
I love exploring and your place is amazing and one thing about your property I always wonder if you ever come across rattlesnakes? Anyway I really enjoy the videos you guy put out.
Thanks. No rattlesnakes here
Good Solar Fix. Love those Berries. Ron PTL USA
Just a suggestion, might be easier to run ground and hot wire close enough together that they hit both and don't need an earth ground
What about using the metal pieces that are offered with the solar panels? I have saw a few of these systems installed on ground installation and I have saw a few on roof installation. On ground installation most are installed on the aluminum metal angle iron or channel pieces.
Katie, firemen wrap the hose around their back to help control the pressure. Try that
I found it much easier to put the hose in my armpit 😅
What State is this beautiful property in. Living a dream !
Me gustan mucho sus videos me encanta su propiedad y toda la naturaleza que muestran en los mismos me gustaría verlos a los dos construyendo un garaje para todos sus vehículos gracias felicitaciones...
Looks like cold water
Sorry about Greg's ankle, I just fractured both of my ankles while hiking last week, but I'm 62. Take it as easy as you can with that sprain.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 cold you think
I like to add 1 gallon of water to my compost for every wheelbarrow of veggie waste and manure, this way the microbes have what they need to keep the pile hot. :) Love to see you two happy!
Also, any given drill will drill screws faster than any given impact drill with a simular rated power source and torque. I love you two! Keep on keeping it real!!
Good morning you guys hope you guys are having a great day hey looks like you guys got more room now alright you guys have a nice day say hi to the animals
I know it's been this way for a long time, but I was wondering what made you put your panels so far from the house. Seems more convenient to have them at the house. ❤ 😮
Love the new channel logo! The solar panels are mounted in an area with great sun, like they should be. The only thing to make them "none embarrassing", would be to mount them on a different material other than 2×4's...lol 😂 But, out of sight, out of mind..😅😊Love ya'll ❤
We have plans to update soon
@@ThisOffGridLife You guys rock!
Now do you really think 2 nails at the bottom of the panels is going to stop the wind from blowing it off? You need a screw with a washer to clamp it down.
The caulking will keep it there
