I’m extremely happy with mine. The versatility and power of the ally is incredible. I had a faulty device originally and returned it to wait a month. I repurchased another device and it’s been what I originally expected. I take it with me to work and log the 1080 120 hz power
I think your spot on with a bigger battery and weight of it. I think with a lot of ally owners they need to know there device inside and out because your right starfieild is not gonna work straight out the box. But for people that know what they have are feeling quiet confident with the device and the future of this handheld.
I agree I feel they made it white to stand out. As for the weight I like the weight of the Rog as its not much heaver than the switch. I've enjoyed mine so far and it's getting me back into gaming to which is a plus. As for starfield I feel this I'll run well on the ally as for me game pass games have run amazing on the ally. I also feel with Microsoft being a part of the ally design I think it's in best practice to have it working on the ally. I will also be happy with 30fps too.
So, had to return mine. Plugged it in after a full hr of playing and the fans started ramping up and down rapidly. Immediately cut the power level down and then shut down. Once restarted it just ran everything like garbage. Got another and so far been good. Did get the bestbuy warranty though cause can't say I trust it but I do love it.
Honestly, I'll wait until next year to spend $700 on something like this. I need to he sure it works, for sure. I hear the ASUS ROG Ally is pretty good though
Absolutely in love with my Ally. After the last update, everything runs a whole lot better at 15w.. If worst come to worst, couldn't we stream Starfield on gamepass until it's playable on the Ally? Legit question.. it's going to be streamable, right?
Have to RMA my deck just now, been looking at the Ally as sort of a backup/secondary portable device. Very good video comparing the experience of the 2.
The faulty sd card slot is unacceptable. It's obvious this wasn't tested the quality control is abysmal. It's ok saying I don't use it but if it's there it should be working. The slot on the steam deck works great.
Does steam deck also had the faulty SD card issue at lunch so if you're going to give the OG Ally crap for that then you need to give valve crap for that because they are responsible for doing the same thing but fixing it in software
It's definitely a design flaw, but a small piece of material to provide thermal isolation would solve the problem. Could be easily adjusted for in assembly. When I upgrade my SSD, I'm going to slide a piece of silicon rubber between the SD card reader and the heat pipe.
Late to the party but I'd sacrifice the refresh rate of the Ally and SSD size for better battery life and a micro SD card slot that doesn't fry cards at launch. I'd also like better thumb sticks. I'd be willing to give up a bit more cash for these features. Next to no game that isnt a indie darling comes anywhere close to the 120hz and that battery drops way too quick for the Ally to even be portable for me. I have the 250ish GB version of the Steam Deck (middle tier) and with a working SD card slot, its been enough for me. I'm not one of those people who needs 10+ games on my handheld. The thumb sticks just feel bad to me. I was playing Forza Horizon 4 last night and the amount of movement I had to do to turn my car was crazy. Yeah, I can fix it via the dead zones, but out of the box its just bad.
I retuned mine and I loved it . The speakers at amazing . The screen is beautiful . Being to be able to play game pass battle net .etc is dope . But the battery is ass . The clunky ness of windows 11’ is garbage . When armory crate works it’s dope . But like I said when it works . You can run everything but setting wise you have to sacrifice alot .
Had to return my first one purchased 7/24 due to right bumper not working, exchanged it for a replacement been testing it out all day 7/26/23 so far it seems to be fine. I seen a video on reddit about fixing the left bumper and I feel like I could have fixed it but after paying $754 with tax I expect it to work out of the box . I'm satisfied with the performance of it and I really enjoy playing on the device, I'm writing this comment with it. 😆 😆 I'm actually really loving it just hope I don't have any more problems with it. I also run a high fan curve because the noise doesn't bother me because I use earbuds with it. I run 6gigs ram through the bios settings and usually 22watts in games including ms flt sim 2020.
I sold mine because I don’t have enough trust in ASUs to support the device in the long run.amd already said they wont release drivers for and ASUs has to get them self
So I preordered my Ally. It was my first time in mobile handhelds and it was honestly a terrible experience, especially one that was my first impression to the space. I couldn't bring myself to enjoy it because I sold myself on the plug and play experience these form factors were meant to provide. I ultimately returned it and bought a steam deck during the summer sale. WOW! yes it does not perform nearly as well at higher watt values but in terms of what I was looking for it fit the bill perfectly. Now Im reconsidering the ally and putting in the work of optimizing the windows experience and big picture UI to make it as seamless as possible (or at least as close to the SD as possible). The ROG ally should be considered more an enthusiast product for more seasoned users since I was fresh to it and was turned off by the windows experience in that form factor/size but this is at no fault of ASUS because this is a Microsoft complaint.
I still have some analog stick deadzone issues, you can really feel them when trying to make some small aim adjustments in shooter games. Makes it pretty unenjoyable to play those kinds of games. I was excited to play Sniper Elite 5 on the Ally, but it was too frustrating so i uninstalled and downloaded it on my gaming PC to play with a mouse and keyboard. Still love the ROG Ally tho and it's amazing for other genres of games.
Nice content man but please please get a legit screen protector hehe. There are a couple of full coverage ones now. My OCD is kicking in I guess and it's only cause legit ones has been out for several weeks already. That being the Ally is now an awesome device after the latest bios update. Most docks will now give guy 30W turbo mode now with a valid 65W charger. I believe it will only get better at this point.
I love mine. I use it everyday. I hate the size and weight of the Deck. The Deck not being able to play gamepass and online shooters I play it's a big heavy door stop in my house.
You compare a naked ally with a full armor set steam deck and say it does not feel premium because it's too light. I can't take your opinion seriously, sorry.

My ally is holding up pretty great so far with the new bios update.

Making it black would’ve improved the performance by 20%.
As a black man, that joke was pretty good lol
White>Black

The Ally matches the color and asthetic of Asus Rog laptops.

If my Ally can't play Starfield, I can fall back to my SeriesS.
Waiting for all the updates to come out then also for maybe a Black Friday sale then I’ll snag this thang
Good idea 💙
Had to give this video a like . I stand in the same camp, give me a heavier chunkier device with bigger battery. I do not mind at all
Have to RMA my deck just now, been looking at the Ally as sort of a backup/secondary portable device. Very good video comparing the experience of the 2.
I'd rather have a case with a built in battery to put on it. So we have some choice in how much weight we want to hold.

@@itsquiwi8780atleast there issue wasn’t a hardware issue, they fixed their one. Asus need to make a new entire design for this to work

Something like moto z play battery modular magnetic pack would be interesting.
I had that phone haha!

I have rog ally left joystick not working only up and down
Did you buy it from Amazon or Best Buy?

😂😂😂😂 it's honestly growing on me i might just leave it hahahahaha
@@gamersdigester oh lawd 😂
Coming from an AYANEO 2, the Ally is a much better experience, minus the buttons (location & click) & joysticks (not as smooth, not hall effect)
What controller is that?
I love it and he is right! It's like 45 bucks on amazon for a premium controller
🎉
I got another one
A little bit of time … 2 years 😅😝

😂 Even without the case it still weighs much more but that's also an issues is the lack of good cases for the ally 🤷♂️
