Based Sargon. I gave the Mario movie a generous 6/10 and was told, "Oh so for a normal person it's an 8 out of 10". There were several instances where a potentially good scene turned to shit because they lazily tried to make the scene comedic.
I'm not invested in Mario at all and have not seen the film, but everyone I know who is a Mario fan said it was mediocre dogshit.

As a fan, and as a woman who has gamed (occasionally), who loves to read and write, I don't believe these people are right about what women look for in gaming. We don't look for a character that looks like us... We want characters we would aspire to being, either a hero or someone who is unlike us so we can escape.
Men feel the same way. I don't play myself in a game. How boring that would be.
@@PolarizedMechs If it's an RPG with a character-creator, it's fine if you want to try and re-create yourself to be more immersed in the game world. In most other games where the protagonist has pre-defined characteristics, you're playing _their_ story, not yours! In both cases, however, you want to experience a story that's different and unique to your life, not a 1:1 replication of our shitty existence!
Thank you JYD! Yeah that's pretty much every gamer too (escapism/hero archetype etc)... the entire premise of that "girls not represented" thing was just B.S. propaganda imho. Since when does anyone need to "feel represented" in a game they are playing? Besides which, there are a crapton of games out there where you get to customize your character to a great degree, and i would wager that those are exactly how people are supposed to "feel represented" ... so what are they even talking about? What games are so "not represented"?? Don't get me started.
More importantly, nobody even mentioned that they specifically used the word "girls"; so does that mean non-adult females only? if so then that's age 17 and under in some places, which is a totally different thing, but could be age 24 and under if you're talking neuro-science... so... wtf?
AND not that many females even like, or play games! Certainly not the same sorts of games that guys play anyways! There are so many holes in the implication of that Dove statement... i could rant on and on about it but i'll leave it there.
How old are you? This might be a generational thing.
I feel the same way as you, but I think we may be in the minority. Just from my personal experience, most of my female friends prefer to just put themselves into the world rather than playing as someone else.
I've played DnD for over 10 years and I usually prefer to play as either a middle-aged male Dragonkin with a drinking problem or a female druid who is nothing like me in personality or looks. Every girl I've played DnD with has only ever played as themselves. Even when they tried to play as a male character, they always seemed to end up acting exactly like they do in reality
This was just gold, when they got to the part about a Hollywood reboot of Thomas the Tank Engine I was on the floor! 🤣

I really like Wedge too. I always thought it should have been him instead of Holdo. At that point it would have been Poe fighting against his HERO. (an ex pilot who Poe thinks has changed for the worse, but during the film Poe realises why and does the same and becomes just like his hero.
I've somehow missed watching any episodes of Open Bar with the Rags fellow and wow he is funny

My Shatner story... Back in 2011 me and my crew were doing some electrical work in the live entertainment area of The Hard Rock Cafe in Atlanta. Bill (we're tight that way), after doing a spot at CNN for something he popped into THRC for lunch. A couple of the kids who worked with me came in to exclaim, "there's some really famous dude at the bar. Not sure who he is but..." Curious, I, as many times before, make my way to the bar, only to find, Willy (i told ya we're tight) surrounded and seeming a bit angry at all the attention. So, me being me, I walk up and do my best shock and amazed act. "Oh wow, I'm such a fan, sir. Look everyone, it's T.J. Hooker." Mr. Shatner (he didn't like that at first), a few 40+ yr old laughed, so he did too. He, shook my hand and said, that's what I'm best know for? I responded, Can you get me Heather Locklear's autograph?...
As a lurker to the open bar nights over the past few months, I will say congratulations on the 50th Open Bar Drinker and friends.

Loved this milestone episode! The Open Bar is such a relaxed environment, and I absolutely love listening in. This episode, with its rotating panel, was perfectly funny and a delightful discussion to listen to.

The reason Normies liked the mario movie is because Mario is a HERO. They actually made him a good guy who does the right thing and tries to achieve great things while taking care of his brother.
Side note: i also seriously appreciated what they did with Peach. She actually gets to be a PRINCESS. She shows up with a plan to form a political alliance against an invading army. She was some independent child who resented her responsibilities, but an actual capable leader.
Rags is hilarious. Needs to be on open bar more often.

I'm a long time resident Evil fan I love the goofy moments of resident evil it's like the metal gear series in that regard in both cases they are mostly dead serious but they have silly moments I loved the scene where Chris punches a huge boulder or the one where if you push the x button fast enough he runs at like 30mph to outrun a rolling boulder but my favorite is the one where he has to avoid the lasers and he does all kinds of crazy parkour and flips to dodge the lasers that last one had my laughing my butt off
