Remember Daihatsu designed the 993cc 3 cylinder twin cam 12 valve turbo engine as used in the 1987-93 Charade GTti. 100bhp stock but 200hp+ is easy enough on them without any need for engine internal changes. Just ECU mapping, and bigger turbo/injectors and of course more boost!
I'll give you a good reason why this is better than a motorbike. You can't fall off it. If you have a crash, you'll be protected by a crash structure, safety cell and seat belts. As for front number plates, I've seen these brilliant things for sale. I think they call them stickers. Not sure if they sell them in your area, but they seem to work well over here. Ariel pioneered their use on the Atom...
¿fiesta 1.0 200 cv y buen precio? Sonaría divertido... Si aún le quedara dinero a alguien.
I believe in you ford, If Ford builds this car for the public it will be hailed as one of their greatest achievements next to the F-Series . Henry would be proud
what engine would you be interested in? what you said is the same for any gas-powered car. it's the fact that this is road legal that this is amazing, just like the ariel atom or bac mono.
Not the same engine. Turbocharger is bigger than the one in focus. You can see the flange difference and adapter flange used clearly at 0:56. OEM small turbo has a 4 bolt flange. This big one has a 3 bolt flange. This means more power, more fuel, more consumption. Every engine with bigger turbo can make more power at high revs.
Go on Ford, produce this kit of parts so that anyone can make their FF road legal. It's the ideal commuter car for the petrolhead - great fuel economy, supreme handling and impressive performance.
Get cracking then. The rolling chassis is £33250 plus VAT and available now ... Google britishformulaford ... the engine is also available as a crate engine from your local Ford dealership. Cycle wings, lights and other parts are available from a plethora of retailers. IVA can be carried out at your local testing station to get your log book.
A great way to be driving a motorcycle without the hazards of motorcycles! I would buy one if it went into production; provided it has comfortable seats and better road clearance.
This fantastic please start producing the street legal for sale I want drive to work everyday, plus track days, plus weekends. The 1.0 liter eccoboost turbo is perfect.
I'm not insinuating that the Fiesta will be as fast or as this car, but it will be faster in comparison to what it is right now. Imagine a 2013 Ford Fiesta with 202hp and a 6 speed manual with the ability to get around 65+mpg.
Show us the whole lap!!!! Better yet narrate the lap and turn it into a "training" video for a fast lap around the ring and get some enthusiasm for Ford with this critical group of enthusiasts. Go Further FoE!
Clarissa Casper What are you putting yours in? I want to put one on in a Ford Pop, or a 100E. An Austin Farina A40 would be a good candidate, as would a Model T roadster.
I wonder why this is being hailed as a great thing? A lightweight car with good aero will always get good mpg and be quick - that's because the engine has less work to do than in a heavy, draggy car. Also this may peak at over 100mpg but that will drop way down if you start using the power. Much like the ecoboost engines in the road cars which get nowhere near their combined cycle results in normal use. I like the idea of a race car on the road but not interested in the engine.
I imagine the highly tuned engine wouldnt last longer than 10 years without an extremely good service? Great engine though, but tuned engines sell their souls for power
pretty f1 the most aesthetically beautiful of the counterpart f1. more beautiful than bac mono and arriel astom or honda. the sound is really disgusting. however.... However, the sound needs to be improved. a higher sound you need a v6. ideal a v10 may I think too heavy.
except in the uk you're going to wear helmet, get splashed by the rain, cant carry much and cant beat traffic by driving on the bus lane.. so why would you use this if you can just ride a motorbike? this is NOT a commuter car, this is an occasional fun car for the weekend and track days. btw the front reg is going to kill the look of this car completely, so thumbs down if you live in a mandatory front reg territory.
I would love to drive one of these to and from college. I really like what Ford is doing and hope that they keep moving in the right direction.
It clocked a time of 7m 22s in nurburing, incredible :D

And incredibly safe.
Hell, I'd buy one and do the conversion myself. Trackday monster and a good way to show off at work.

It is for sale now go and buy one !!!

so, where is the onboard video of the lap? I can see a camera on the car :)
if they sell an engineless kit, im sure you could fab in your own mounts to fit a bigger engine. Id put in a 3.5 V6 Ecoboost.
Will this model go into production?
please ford, for the love of all that is motoring put this car into production!!!!!
Where can I buy one
Amazing project! Now take it to the next level, and sell this car to the public.
11 fastest time on the ring for road cars. boom head shot
They didn't even mention that it gets 100+ mpg when driven normally. Incredible.
118 mpg @ 35 mph, 57 mpg @ 75 mph.
nurburgring time of 7:22
i wonder how high of boost they used?
what are the cnaces of having this car in europe??/its really nice i want one but like mustangs i dont think this formula will appear here....
Where can I buy one I would like to make a racing series in the Dominican Republic

i just wish it had two seats. all that fun is too much for one person :)
Show us the whole lap!!!! Better yet narrate the lap and turn it into a "training" video for a fast lap around the ring and get some enthusiasm for Ford with this critical group of enthusiasts. Go Further FoE!
How do u get one
How do I get 195hp out of eco boost?
Clarissa Casper they used a turbo from a 1.6. Probably forged internals.
+vivalaphill The internals were completely stock. You're right about the turbo though.

you dont get it, part of the reason why this engine works with this car is that the car is light, a fiesta in comparison is a heavy car
I wonder how much power this is producing.
I think it's time they make an SVT Fiesta with this engine in it....fast, economical, and practical.
so road legal...
adress to buy it plz!
I wonder if Ford will release an aero package for it
202bhp
If or when this engine is available as a crate engine it will be going into my 1988 Subaru Justy.
A formula ford car for the road? That'd be great considering the monocoque would make this car effectively safer than a normal road car.
Jesus, it sounds pretty beastly. I wonder if they just gutted the entire muffler or what but it sounds wikkid.
get this thing into the us now!
its missing the front spoiler and back spoiler....
This uses the turbo off of the 1.6L Ecoboost.
Than take it to the next level , put two Ecoboost engines in V, make a 6 cylinder engine and sell it to the public.
That's street legal damn once its in Canada
they took the music from the NFS III soundtrack!!
I imagine the highly tuned engine wouldnt last longer than 10 years without an extremely good service? Great engine though, but tuned engines sell their souls for power
front + rear spoiler, and a bmw S1000RR engine
Nifty
Stig sighting at 1:20-1:30
Pair this engine with a 50hp Electric motor and put it into a sportscar like the BRZ
really fast coffe grinder.
take an example from other companies and put this out as a street legal track day car that anyone can buy
I want one.
pretty f1 the most aesthetically beautiful of the counterpart f1.
more beautiful than bac mono and arriel astom or honda.
the sound is really disgusting. however....
However, the sound needs to be improved.
a higher sound you need a v6.
ideal a v10 may I think too heavy.
Found my lottery car.
Nice car. I wonder what it sounds like :-\
Hehe. So many ricers would want to race you.
Wheels too small
engine noise please? Not shitty music
Me likey
trackmania ?
How about letting us hear the engine instead of some irrelevant music?
The Stig
2.3 litres to 100 K's :D Wahoo
Why the fuk, in your opinion, electric motor is needed?
