Everyone is talking about how weird the crossing looks, but no one is talking about the drivers that stopped at the red light even when the gates weren't down yet and the train was pretty far away Smart
@@VictorianRailHeritage um...yeah ik that's kinda what I said lol I pointed it out because usually when the lights are on and the gates aren't down yet most people will try and pass and not stop when they just see the light
I was just curious as to what type of railroad signals they used in Australia, but they are pretty much identical to the signals used in the U.S and Canada. As soon as I saw the WCH logo (Western Cullen Hayes) they are made by the same company, and are slightly different for Australia, but pretty much the same world wide.
Great . Very odd signal setup. I do kinda like the 12 inch lights on the gateless signal but prefer 8 inch ones . Fast train . Great video and crossing!
I like those large Inverysys/Westinghouse LEDs on the one pole I find it neat that there was a passenger car at the front of the train, and there was double-stakced containers!
Thanks! The passenger car is for the train crew to sleep in, there would be one crew driving the train and a second crew resting in the car. I think they take turns while the other crew sleeps.
Great video! This is certainly a very odd crossing, its the strangest non metropolitan crossing I have seen. For some reason I remember seeing red crossbucks on streetview.
@McK&H Aust I would love to know what the white flashing lights atop the level crossing arms mean please ? I have only seen one and it only flashes when the gates are lowered as far as I know.
@@McKHAust you're welcome! Seems like They have pretty interesting crossings and sometimes bells up there! The us&s teardrop bells are way better if not the best ones used. Of course I'm from the u.s so I dont really know what bells they use there. But I know they used teardrop bells there. They are AWESOME!!
@Ayden Holton sorry 4 replying so late. I like the sound of Westinghouse bells. They're kinda loud but that's good for railroad crossing because it makes motorists more aware. I saw that teardrop bell get replaced with a e-bell. How disappointing!
random but any reason 12in lights never really took off in Australia? (well maybe outside of Queensland lol) they seem super rare compared to 8in's, which are at like every crossing over there
Thanks! It sure is a mystery about the 12 inch lights, specially how they left one pair. You could be right, perhaps the LED's started dying and they already had 8 inch lights in stock.
Australia uses different terminology than the States. Railway = railroad. If that’s the case (what you call a railway crossing), then we would call that a level junction.
7:50 1st activation of the railroad crossing
*7:52*
Nice crossing. Love the unusual strobes and assortment of different lights!
Thanks!
It looks and sounds just like the American railroad crossing.
Great video! Those lights look huge
More Like Small no?
Great Video and crossing, I like the 12 inch lights.
Thanks!

Jayden Richard the equipment used for level crossings here are imported from the USA

The lights on this crossing were made in Australia by Westinghouse, but the WCH equipment is imported from the US.
@@McKHAust that is true
Great catch & crossing!
Thanks!

Very interesting seeing some double stack well cars on there... imagine if Australian intermodals were just a little over 3 km long double stacks.
Thanks!
Them copying TTX
On which side? The side from where it started the activation or the other side?
Nice wc Hayes led lights
8:45 aha! Containers loaded on well cars the US of A way.

Keep up the awesome work and just love seeing crossing from my home state👍🏻💯
Thanks! More SA crossings to come.
@@McKHAust nice!!
This Crossing Has Alstom Aurora LED Gate Lights?!
No they’re WCH LED gate lights. Alstom/Aurora LED gate lights are white, and WCH LED gate lights are red.

How's the weather been there lately? Here it has been actually rather cool and wet (rare for May here) but its supposed to warm up this week.
It's getting cold here but not much rain.
@@McKHAust we are drying out now and starting to get much hotter, headed for 100°F next week. We were only in the 60s here last week
The car at 7:57 and 9:44 actually waited until the gates were fully raised, man he wants to follow the rules. 😂
Hold up. 12 inch lights... in australia?
yep Queensland has the most except their incandescent
Wow that was like the speed of the Amtrak!
Great video! This is certainly a very odd crossing, its the strangest non metropolitan crossing I have seen. For some reason I remember seeing red crossbucks on streetview.
Thanks! I'm sure the red background crossbucks won't be too far away, a couple of the existing crossbucks are faded.
Nice video, what's your next upload and when is it?
Thank you! Clark Rd, Evanston Gardens, probably towards the end of this week.
Ok
What's the beacon on top of the pole that flashes at 10:20?
@McK&H Aust I would love to know what the white flashing lights atop the level crossing arms mean please ?

What’s with the strobes on the crossings?
Those light mounts on the side signals really trigger my ocd the one with tge gates*

Australia has crossings just like the US except it says railway crossing but still a lot alike
Yes
I love how they incorporated the American style “Intermodal” cars
TTX copycats

did they sort out the issue in Melbourne back in 2010 with more than 50 dangerous level crossings?
@@soulsphere9242 so they will go under the road instead?
We went past this crossing in early 2016 unfortunately there was no train ;(
