    Great video! A good thing about level crossing having traffic signals is that they can be obeyed more easily most of the time

    My favorite railway crossings are the ones with traffic signals, such as this one. There are quite a few of them in Melbourne, where there's a T intersection or pedestrian crossing, for instance.

    Nice how it has traffic lights on top of the two flashing red lights 🚦

    Nice video! Shame the m-bells are gone now though the new e-bells aren’t to bad... Went on that train at 15:21 back in 2017, it’s rather nice!

      Thanks! I agree these bells are ok, it certainly could have been worse.

    Keep up your awesome work! I remember coming to this crossing and seeing some passenger trains and a light movement of DL31
    But kinda sad to see that the bells have since changed since the last time I came to this crossing (2016). I remember filming the Ghan at the Torrens Road crossing the following year👍🏻👍🏻

      Thanks! The DL's seem rare these days. I did hear that funding has been provided to grade separate Torrens Road, but who knows if it will actually happen.

      @@McKHAust sadly they did that with the Oaklands station and crossing and unfortunately I couldn't take one last video there before the makeover

      @@McKHAust and now it is happening, the crossing is going to remain but the old part of Torrens road is going to be an access road to/from Exeter again, like it was pre roadworks. (according to the guys doing the actual work not like what the government artwork shows)

    Great video . Very nice crossing. Sad that the m bells got replaced. I don’t like how Adelaide metro are now using red background crossbucks. Still good stuff

      Thanks! Sadly those red background crossbucks seem to be spreading out everywhere.

    The yellow traffice light at 1:59 reminds me of the yellow lights on British and Gemran railroad crossings!
    2:59 Nice catch of a Diesel train pulling an EMU! I hope they electrify at least from Adelaide to the sheds soon.
    9:40 nice catch of mixed liveries!

    It is a real pity that the old bridge over the railway tracks was demolished.

    Great video and crossing! Looks like the NEG gate light closest to the signal is incandescent while the middle one is LED. Not sure on the tip gate light.

    That’s a good crossing there! I was the lucky person to record the mechanical bells before they got replaced. :( You can watch my Hawker Street video, there’s M bells there

    • @adambahouche366
      @adambahouche366 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      More crossing videos will be WCH E-Bells which is one of their favourites in SA unless you want to record mechanical bells if you’re doing a Steamranger version.

      I found your video of the hawker st crossing just a few minutes ago, great you got to film the old bells there.

    • @McKHAust
      @McKHAust  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I wish I had been able to film the m-bells, but I still really like this crossing even with the e-bells :)

  • @redhen334
    @redhen334 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video! The eastern signal originally had a WCH 333 bell, the first gen one with a WRRS style base, and the western signal had a WRRS 222 Bell. Good thing Adelaide Metro doesn’t replace gate mechs, that must be why there are so many vintage gate mechs left. Also, did you know this crossing was actually a bridge at first? They ended up demolishing the bridge and they replaced it with this crossing, using these signals. For my 100th subscriber celebration , I’m re-releasing my Hawker St videos all in one video, and I am improving the photos and overall how the video is presented to fit in with my editing style nowadays.

    • @McKHAust
      @McKHAust  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I didn't know this was a bridge, I wonder if it happened when they installed the third track? Looking forward to seeing your video of the old m-bells again, it's a shame they're gone but personally I quite like the way these WCH e-bells sound.

    • @redhen334
      @redhen334 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      McK&H Aust the bridge got demolished in 1985 I think, the 3rd track was added in 1982, so I think the demolition had to do with the bridge’s age.

    • @McKHAust
      @McKHAust  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's certainly a different way of replacing an old bridge, would have been interesting to watch!

    Yes I agree thay should look into doing the same for Adelaide South Australia it may just save a lot of accident's both with traffic and podestrens waiting for both Adelaide Metro train's and or the freight train's it would be more safe for both the train driver's and pasingers pice of mine all people get to go home safely and the train driver's get to also go home noing that thay have done the job and done the job very well and with 😀😀😀😀 smiley's on faces when thay get home after a hard day's or night's work it's not that hard to do if I can do you can do it also it would mean a lot to both the train driver's and your self ok

      I agree. They should have them worldwide!

    • @McKHAust
      @McKHAust  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes there are many crossings which would benefit from having traffic signals, but as usual it comes down to nobody wanting to pay for them.
      A good example is the next upload from Grange Rd, Hawthorn. The crossing is situated on top of a rise which obstructs the view of the intersections on either side. In an attempt to improve safety, stop signs were installed on both sides of the crossing even though it is protected by gates!

    • @robertcarldecker
      @robertcarldecker 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      McK&H Aust I actually meant to say worldwide as I live in the USA

    • @McKHAust
      @McKHAust  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also meant worldwide but didn't really say it properly. I imagine that the same issues apply worldwide, nobody wants to pay for upgrades. In Australia there are frequent arguments between federal, state and local governments when deciding on who should pay. This often results in very slow progress or nothing being done at all.

    Such a shame you weren't in time to get the WCH bell. Though at least they went with WCH e-bells instead of the usual Safetran type 3's for variety's sake
