  • The Soundcraft UI24r has a mode not just for players on stage and for checking monitors, but also an all-singing-all-dancing mode, the “Big D” mode.
    Big-D mode is available on a display of at least 1080p resolution, but only through the Ethernet connector: it is not available via the HDMI connector.
    This allows input gains and channel faders to be seen simultaneously and also Compressor/Gate and EQ to be seen alongside channels. It greatly increases the speed of navigation around the mixer’s many features, which can become necessary mid-gig!
    Also here is an overview of the fantastic guitar amp processors that really do allow for fantastic sounds without the guitarist breaking their back trying to get a Fender Twin through a pub of inebriated windmilling revellers.
    Enjoy and Share!

    This looks so much more user friendly than the Xair apps. I've been using an x18 for 5 or so years. Seriously thinking about ordering this mixer to upgrade. Thanks for the great videos!

      Cheers Brian! I’ve not used the Behringer stuff but I would think it’s good. Most of their stuff is IMO...

      @@DanBakerMusic it hasn't let me down and doesn't sound bad. I have since bought the ui24r. It is much better than the behringer. Definitely worth the extra cost over an xr18.

      UI Series mixers are very much for the on the fly, plug 'n play use. I own a couple of XAIR18s, a UI16 and UI24. The layout and workflow of the UI series is far superior to the XAIR native apps. The XAIR however gives you access to much more processing and FX tweaks that the UI series lacks. If that's not important to you then the UI Series mixers are perfect.

    Hi Dan , thinking of getting one of these , are there Bass amps & cabs too ? Great video for the likes of me !

      I haven’t actually looked on the list for bass cabs, but the compressor and the EQ are good enough to use with bass, that’s for sure...

    I guess big D would be for Big Display. This is Soundcrafts answer to Behringer's X-air series of Digital mixers. I see where Soundcraft have partnered with well known names in the industry to supply the sims and effects engines, where as Behringer's engines are generic. I am curious did you look at the X-air series before choosing the Soundcraft 24? thank for the demo, how are the Guitar presets by the way?

      I didn’t look at the X-air series: I just took the plunge on the Soundcraft..the guitar presets are pretty good, but there is a certain amount of tweaking involved. Really intuitive though...

    Nice. I'm almost sold on that mixer. Question: is it possible to use just the cab simulation?
    I have an amp I love and a load box (DI out). So it would be great to just simulate the cab on the mixer instead of micing the amp

      I believe you can opt for just the cabinet by selecting an amp that just says DI. I’m aboard at the moment but will have a look on my return..

    Hi Dan, Great vids! I'm thinking of buying a ui24r for live work and possibly a replacement for my Apogee Duet as a Mac recording interface (selling that would help me afford the ui24r). I wondered how highly you would rate the mic preamps on the Soundcraft for recording compared to an Apogee? Many thanks Andy

      The mic pres on the Soundcraft are very good indeed. They’re not up to my UA interface but still extremely good!

      @@DanBakerMusic Cheers Dan. I'm thinking the Duet's probably similar quality to your UA... I'll maybe try to hang on to it just now, buy the UI and try both A/B'd.

    can you use a virtual cabinet only and not the amp? I want to use it with a line out from a reactive load

    But the big Desktop Mode for Mix is Not possible when connecting a Monitor directory to the soundcraft is this correct?

    • @DanBakerMusic
      @DanBakerMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is correct I believe - it has to be connected via Ethernet for Big D capability.

    How do you get to the big “D” mode?

  • @NEBoddy
    @NEBoddy 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So.. to get "Big D" mode you have to have your monitor hooked up to a computer?
