    Thanks for explaining legacy and advance. Used my Minn kota for the first time yesterday and was frustrated because it wasn't track a straight line. Didn't realize the remote was in advanced mode and that was causing the problem. Thank you so much!

    Really good video, you covered more than most people and kept it easy to understand. I have a new boat and really don't like the Hummingbird 5 inch console with hardly anything. I consider it a $300 paperweight. I'm looking at replacing it with a Garmin 93sv with UDH 56 and use my Hummingbird 7 mega chip DI as the console for navigation and 2D, occasionally Down imaging. On my bow I have decided to use the Garmin 106sv with UHD 56. This will allow me to get the Garmin LS 34 later. I have been learning that having side imaging on the trolling motor works pretty good for locating fish direction......you just turn the trolling motor and that allows you to know which side and or angle.

    Great video! I've had a minnkota Riptide powerdrive with ipilot for 2-1/2 yrs and really only used the spot lock, plus moving around an area to find the sweet spot to fish. I fish in the marsh and out front of the MS East coast barrier islands. My 21' cc is so high in the front I mounted the trolling motor on the right rear corner. It's the best anchor I've ever owned! I got it because I have severe Lyme arthritis and have a terrible time with anchor ropes! I'm changing to lithium batteries as the flooded deep cycle have quit after 2-1/2 yrs😳. I'm glad you showed that I can record treks by setting the record and using my gas engine to create the trip. That would be great for trolling the 3 mile rock jetty. Thanks for the work you put into the video!

    Haven't messed with the legacy or advanced in years but I know its still on advanced based off your video. Plan to mess around with the the I'track more this year just hoping I find enough calm days to use it. We are usually on Lake Sakakawea so wind is an issue.

    Thank you so much Chris. I really enjoyed this demonstration. I'm considering buying a Minn Kota Powerdrive but wasn't sure because it's a lot of money to invest, this market can be quite confusing and I'm new to these GPS trolling motors. You have helped me out a lot.

    Great job Chris, I’ve always used Legacy because Advanced would over correct so much but would like to give it another try because recently I found out threw Garmin Customer Service (which is Fantastic) imo, that the Boat Scale plays a big part in that as well, I have the Terrova 112 and the Boat scale is factory default 0 at 5600 pound boat, I was having trouble with spot lock over correcting even on Legacy, they asked if my boat was 5600lbs and you know it’s a good bit under that, they said to play with the -1 and -2 and I would be very pleased and the were right, has made a huge difference. Not sure if you ever have that problem but might check it out!

    1st rule should be to take the remote apart and adding di-electric grease to the gasket between the two halves. They do not seal well and your remote will soon die from internal corrosion.

    Great video, thanks. One more question. I like to bass fish off the port side of boat. So let’s say I record a track going up the lake. Once I get to the end of my recorded track. To be able to fish it the exact way I recorded it I would have to go back down the lake to my starting point then hit start? Hope I didn’t confuse you. Lol

    Hey Chris. How did you find this trolling motor using for a long period,it’s giving any problems?
    I asking you because I considering to buy it.

    Now the big question is how much run time you get with all that trolling motor usage? Let’s say a good fully charged battery?

    • @HooksandHammocks
      @HooksandHammocks  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Easily a full day of fishing with constant use and 2 days with intermittent use.

    Gotta get one!! How fast can you record a track? Can it record going like 20mph for example, that way you can shoot a track and get back to use it?

    • @HooksandHammocks
      @HooksandHammocks  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have recorded tracks at full throttle (35mph) I am sure it will record at any speed. Thanks for watching

  • @Gssmallenginerepair

    So you do not have to have powerdrive deployed to record a track? Because there is no other way to turn trolling motor on right?

    • @HooksandHammocks
      @HooksandHammocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is no on/off switch on the Power Drive trolling motor, when you turn on the remote it will say "motor stowed" but you can still record a track.

    Can you make the track with the trolling motor itself, and it will turn and follow? There are so many stumps here that I don't like to use my outboard out of the deeper parts. Thank you
