    Just an FYI, that puck is not a GPS. It is an electronic compass to for additional guidance. The GPS is built into the head unit.

    Just wanted to say thank you for posting this video. I recently purchased the exact same setup that you have here. I was looking for a basic how to get started with the terrova b/c it's a bit overwhelming at first. I troll for crappie this time of year. This video was exactly what I needed. I'll figure out all the other bells and whistles later. I just wanted to know the basics and this video nailed it. And believe me I have watched many. There's just not many that show the basics. Thanks again.

    Whats funny is i tossed the old minn kota that came on my 1989 bass tracker because i liked a foot pedal that was based off of pedal position. I would hate that it just wanted to spin in circles and you wouldn’t know where it was pointing unless you looked down at it. I got a cable drive and that was a world of difference. I could go anywhere without ever looking down at the TM because i knew where it was facing based on foot position.
    I definitely think the quicker motors and spotlock/autopilot are huge advantages over the old school cable TM’s

    I wish terrova has the self deploy and stow would've been great and also if you're not paying attention steering left and right and you are in the very end of your boat the wires will get wrapped around the shaft trying to figure away to fix that issue I only toke the boat out once for an hour last week so haven't really mess with it.

    • @MarkBlackstock

    Will it go and maintain its direct course until
    Battery runs out of power?

    • @MarkBlackstock
      @MarkBlackstock  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Two years later this motor is going strong th-cam.com/users/postUgkxBZWgzfpS2Jj7JqIHyaSZjyVHNUgCKCBf Just uploaded a video of it after 2 years. We use it probably a dozen days each year on our small raft.-original review- We got this motor the other day and tested it out. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems good to me. It has all the features advertised - the motor housing is metal. We will see how it performs longer term and I will revise this review if needed. Some initial observations:- Good thrust, moves our boat around really well- It comes with a circuit breaker but no switch - so there's no way to kill the motor other than yanking the connection off the battery. I installed an inline switch.- The mount bracket is plastic and I worry it might break- There are a number of plastic parts that I worry about, but the most important ones are metal or some kind of composite

I'm questioning my plans after seeing you installed the 55 12v. Now that you've had it awhile, Would you buy the same one? Have you had any issues with the battery not lasting long enough or has it struggled in any type of water or weather? Thanks

      @@MarkBlackstock I have the bass tracker classic, and want to put one. on. I can only find it in 45, and 55 shaft length. It came with a 48 inch shaft motor on it. I didn't know if 45 inch shaft would be to short

      The original 12v it came with. When this one is shot I may change things as far as number of batteries.

      @@MarkBlackstock so a single deep cycle battery. Awesome. Just bought a Terrova and am planning on a 105 ah battery.

    How long can you run on the battery?

    • @MarkBlackstock
      @MarkBlackstock  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I haven’t killed it yet in two years but I have been out 12-14 hours and I’ve slowed down towards the end but still going. That’s consistent use in the time frame.

    How does this spotlock do in decent winds? I’ve got a 16 ft lowe. Really hard to stay on crappie in the wind with my regular Motorguide

      It does a good job. If you’re able step up to a 24v 80lb.
