I'm so tired of the cluster gripe. My wife is 5' tall. She can see over the wheel. If you're tall enough to drive you can see over the steering wheel fine. OMG.
I’m more concerned about hitting my head every time I get out since I have to drive with the seat all the way up. I don’t own one yet but this happened during a couple of test drives.
I got my Prius XSE Prime Premium in early September, and I had it severely rear-ended in early October. It spent 3-1/2 months in the shop, and I was somewhat pissed about that. When I got it out of the shop I finally gave it a full tank of gas and calculated the mileage: 108 mpg. Of course, I am using battery power for much of my commute. I tried Sport mode for the first time just a couple days ago, wow! Back to Eco mode. Even in battery-only mode this thing has more pep than my 15-year-old manual Corolla had. I can't wait to do a road trip in it. At this point I still have just over 2K miles on it.
Good review! I love my new Prius. Purposefully chose the LE trim for the all black look and I have had many people asking about the car just because of its looks.
I owned Patty's nothing but repair after repair. I owned 3 prius 398000 mile no repairs, 307890 miles no repairs 31190 no repairs. Now I drive a 2022 prius prime super sonic red. Average 137 miles per gall9n with electric and gas NO PROBLEMS AGAIN. Love all of them
I am a Subaru guy. I still have my turbo Forester. Just bought a Prius AWD XLE a week ago and I love it! The speedometer cluster is fine, and the steering wheel controls are good, just get some getting used to. Car handled really well and the awd helps with cornering and take off. Best new Toyota! I highly recommend it! I get a lot of looks and questions.
I have owned 4 Prius in the past, and may be purchasing a new one in the future. All of my past Prius were great cars, with never a problem at all. They were plenty fast enough too. Freeway cruising at 75 mph was very relaxed, returning excellent mpgs. This new model is mind-blowing. I never thought the older models were ugly or slow. The impression I got whenever I saw somebody driving a Prius, I just felt those Prius owners were smarter than the average person. I still feel that way.
I have a 2023 XLE with 12,000 miles on it. I love it! I usually get mid 50's to low 60's mpg without the Air conditioning. Good review, thank you! It's just my commuter car tho.
The oversized wheels & low-profile tires make for a harsh, noisy ride on all but the best of roads, just like it does for the Corolla XSE with similar wheel/tire setup. So, style over comfort/practicality. Toyota should have went with 18" wheels tops on this to give the tires a bit more sidewall to work with.
Toyota takes precaution on the high torque of electric motor at low end so Toyota make low profile tire wheels. You dont want the tire tread peeling off due to high torque at the wheels.
1) they offer 17inch wheels 2) you can put different wheel or tires on it 3) what does wheel size change for noise? Also, they had to give more style over comfort, fewer people were buying it.
My dad's 2010 prius no problems except have the catalyst converter stolen which was an expensive fix especially in California, but other than that absolutely no problems. 90% of cars will do well if you get the proper maintenance beyond an oil change.
The interesting thing about the volume knob is it's on the driver's side with the standard display unit. The moved it to the passenger side with the bigger screen
We put 230,000 miles on a 2011 Prius with....ZERO....issues. Great Car. Living in Michigan, The Land of PotHoles and Road Craters, those low profile tires look pretty scray.
The number 19 is scary but ultimately, it still has a 50-series sidewall. It is borderline low profile in my opinion. The real annoyance is the lack of tire choices until the tire makers catch up..if they catch up.
I really like what they did with the new Prius, but I am still deciding whether to purchase it, considering how well the 2025 Camry compares and even exceeds with space and power. What are your recommendations? Prius XLE or Camry XLE? I want the style, function, comfort, and fuel efficiency.
That's a great point actually. I wouldn't be surprised if Toyota took some inspiration, and recycled some ideas to add their own touch for the new Prius.
We have a 2024 Prime. Love it, superb milage. Over 4,000Km now and we've only used one tank of fuel. Sadly, with the Prime there is nowhere under the hatch floor for any kind of spare tire. We're going to source a set of winter rims/tires and use one of those as a spare when going on road trips. We'll just toss the wheel in the back, just in case.
Great video! I just got mine, though I noticed you said the xle has a wireless charger. I have the same trim but there is no wireless charger, and my volume knob is on the driver side, and my infotainment screen is also the smaller size... I'm curious if you know anything about these differences or if your review is for the limited trim?
This video showcases the 12.3 inch multimedia package that is availabe for the prius XLE. Not sure about the wireless charger, it is on the passenger side of the center console so it might be hard to see from the drivers seat.
The 5th Gen Prius and the EQS are the smoothest things on the road. I always thought Toyota should have the Prius Classic (the styling that characterized previous iterations) and the new 5th Gen which looks more like what a teenager in the 80s in love with the CRX would have thought Honda would have made instead of things like the Insight.
They're a bit sparse on Tennessee dealerships. Might have to substitute it with a Camry or Corolla Hybrid, if I go that route. They're basically as fuel efficient as an early 2010s Prius.
I have had my 2024 Prius Prime for a month now. Excellent Car - EXCEPT if you use the TOYOTA APP on your phone you AGREE to Toyota uploading all your driving data, including the camera on your steering wheel and whatever the microphone records. Toyota can retain this data for in some cases up to 15 YEARS and share it with third parties, including law enforcement. NO THANKS! I Opted Out of it and the SOS button. My next step will probably be to disconnect the antenna or remove and bypass the Driver Monitoring Communication Module. My old 2009 Prius was an excellent car that minded its own business. Did I mention that Toyota is a World Economic Forum partner?
In EV Mode our new Prime can run up to 85Mph. Where we live, if you get caught at that speed they call a tow truck and pull your license until a judge has a conversation with you.
Ours sits in the garage, undriven and unloved. I am trying to get rid of it. Five months after purchase, we have yet to get the promised second key. That sums up the new and unimproved Prius (our 4th and last, by the way).
What does not having the second key fob have anything to do with driving it? They told you when you bought it you wouldn't get a second key fob for months. I bought my Prius Prime XSE Premium in September and I called and scheduled a service appointment for next week to get the second key fob. You have to take your car and fob so they can program the second key. I got a message through the Toyota app. You probably could have gotten your second key fob months ago and didn't know it.
Good for you. No, they did NOT tell us about the key until we paid for the car. (The dealer conveniently failed to put on the window sticker notice for consumers.) And, no, we cannot get a key by scheduling maintenance. And we are so inconvenienced by the inability of Toyota to provide a key for both of us that neither of us will even touch that car. @@mrxman581
I was supposed to pick up my second key today during the 15K tire rotation. It'll be coming in tomorrow. So I won't be getting it for a while because the dealer is a ways a way. But I love the car. So does everyone that sees it. I think it looks better than my 911. I don't know the issue you have with the car. Why the negative feel? Or are you just jostling for EV?
This car was not ready for prime time and should not have been released at all. Toyota's inability to provide 2 keys is just one sign it was not ready. It took us a full week to get a new TIRE for one that got cut when we hit a pothole. The bells and whistles on it sometimes work and often do not, or malfunction, or tell us we need to "subscribe" to talk to them. No thanks. And we are not going to get to 15K miles. At 6 months in, we have just 3800 miles on it. Wish I could sell it. @@miltonhayek2494

No issue here. I’m 5-11.5. Just lowered the steering wheel a bit and it was as all good.
Say it louder for the folks in the back! Sooooo tired of hearing that too. The steering wheel AND seat are adjustable.
