Not to get into his personal business, but I swear in other videos he said he was in his 40s in the 80s. The man just loves toys and it was something he was able to enjoy with his kids together!

I'm a personal fan of 1989 due to the short lived toy series 'Food Fighters' released by Mattel. They were sentient food soldiers; the good Kitchen Commandos and the evil Refrigerator Rejects. They were so creative with it, each character had their own little bios on the back of the packaging (not to mention the great artwork the packaging featured).
Look it up if you have never seen them. :)

OH SNAP! I'm a big fan of Micronauts. I vividly remember picking through Time Travelers on the store rack. We didn't have a lot of money when I was younger, so I KNOW they couldn't have been more than a few dollars then. I had several colors, and liked how they were translucent, and super articulated (even down to the little wrist).
At some point they wound up missing the white plastic feet or the silver chestpiece and such. Imagine my surprise a few years ago when I got on eBay, hoping to buy some... and I saw the prices. LOL!

That little Spacelink ship looks fantastic on it's own.
Many thing passed me by in 1986 as I was really into GI Joe, but I did get a few Starcom sets. They were a lot of fun and i was so amazed at what they could do without needing any batteries!
I had the Starmax Bomber and the Starwolf starfighter and I loved that you could either put it on the top or store it in the cargo area in the back. I remember pretending that the little pilot could hang out in the bigger ship while traveling and he could climb a ladder to his fighter and deploy for action. Today, I only have the Dash figure, but he's complete with his backpack and pistol. I had to get one as he was my favorite Starcom figure :)

As a life-long Transformers nut (well, as long as they've been around, anyway), I have to say it's 1984, but '86 was cool too.
I'd actually completely forgotten about Legions of Power, but I had a few of those, and they were brilliant fun.
And Starcom. How I loved Starcom. I didn't have any of them at the time, but I managed to pick up a bunch of later-series sets a few years later from a local cash-and-carry store (that place was a friggin' _goldmine,_ I tells ya...). Not only were the figures cool, and the magnetic and mechanised features absolutely _ingenious_ (I loved the airlock on one of the bases that only opened when there was a figure on the magnetic platform), but I _particularly_ loved how the little vehicles could fold up into pod forms for storage and transport. That play pattern still inspires me today.
I wish I still had those sets, but I think I lost them in a house move somewhere along the way... 😭
And the cartoon deserved way more recognition than it got. It was well-written, didn't talk down to kids at all, and the animation was _stunning._
By the by, at the beginning of the video, who's that little chonky translucent giraffe-dude with the square on his chest standing next to Triple Threat Snake? He looks like he _should_ be another Battle Beast, but I don't recognise the style...
    ...Merry Christmas, chief. o7

Love the video. Starcom was a favourite. You didn't mention that the magnets on the feet actually triggered hidden switches that did things in some of the toys. Absolute magic for a kid in the 80's.

Man, I've been trying to figure out what those little figures were. I only had a memory, but nothing to associate it with. Thanks for the video!

Those are pretty cool Crafman, my personal fave toys from 86 are battle beasts.
