Well, now you have to play Mafia 2 in Czech! Fun Fact: the Czech voice actor for Joe in that game also does the Czech dubbing for Homer Simpson, so it allows for some pretty funny edits on TH-cam
Interesting, in the original Mafia in French Luigi's voice actor is the same as the voice actor for Homer Simpson
Voice actors for Paulie, Sam and Frank (props to him, he is really old now) are actually the same ones as in the original as well :-)
There are more: Pepé, Little Tony, Bobby, Billy, Doctor, detective Norman, etc.

Tommy is also same voice actor.. But hes now older now and his voice change much more then paulie and sam .. So for someone who dont speak czech its confusing

Frank's czech VA was in all Mafia games well exept Mafia 3 since it doesn't have czech dubbing
More VAs were in all three games but it's interesting that many Czechs don't know it, but it's true they sound differently and have different (smaller) characters.
You should listen original Czech Paulie, because he was so much different that the English one (English voice actors didn't hear Czech version and they did it in their own way) and Petr Rychlý now tried to bring back this old Paulie sometimes and I think it works perfectly. New Luke's Paulie, some old manners (they also changed line about lunapark because of the lenght, the original Czech line was longer, and Paulie here talks about "prdel na sračky" because it's more legendary than "zasranej lunapark", they had to cut it because of English lip-sync...), also with some creative translations and and absolutely Petr Rychlý's performance. For years my opinion was that the best Czech VA in Mafia series is Vlastimil Zavřel, voice actor of Joe in Mafia II. Until September 23 - Rychlý overcame himself and I got the best Paulie.

Salier is different then in original, not sounding bad, but Molčík was the master. His original Salieri in begining of that mission after Sarah (can't remember its name) is pure gold.
Vinnie is different actor than in original. Not great, not terrible, but I have to admit, I don't like new Vinnie in either language to be honest.
Ralph is different actor than original, but sound so similar. Well original might be little better.
Paulie is the same actor as original and sounds a lot like original. So I belive new English voice actor might been trying to immitate original Czech Paulie, not the other way.
Sarah is different than in original. I like her more, Linda Rybová sounded too chldish for me in original.
This time main language is English, czech is secondary. Face expressions are english for all languages, because of motion captue of american actors. So lip sinc is bad for czech dhis time.
In original they were both same level, but English actors recorded in US by some hired studio pure translation of original scripts, Czech were recorded (later or simuntaniously) in Ilussion Softworks studio and made a lot of improvising under the supervision of the developers. So the myde some changes and sometime even aditions to original texts.
But in DE they also for a lot of times improvising. There was a lot of small differences between what they said and subtitles. But no aditions this time.
Czech version was finished in February 2002 (they recorded it in MC Studio Prague with Jakub Saic because he had many experience with voice acting for videogames, one year later also Vietcong was recorded there), when they started putting voice lines into the game, Vávra went to New York for English recording. So the Czech is first original English the second one (but without knowing the Czech one).

This Paulie sounds like if 2K forced the voice actor to be less silly and less him. The orginial Paulie is just better.
Also Ralph stutters less and differentely compared to original. I think that they wanted another voice actors but didnt want to piss the fans so they hirex the original VA and forced then to be less like them. Also lot of legendary lines just disappeared and they are not funny now. Just some generic translated insults.

The Czech version of dabing sounds like copying the english one because the cutscenes are made for english. If we want to fit in the lipsing, we need to copy your laugh, make sentences just to fit in. BTW: Google Marek Vašut - Czech Tommy.

Aby to vypadalo dobře, musí se čeština trefovat do počtu slabik, což je občas nepřirozený. Nikde jsem nikdy neřekl že čeština není samostatný jazyk nebo je nějak podřízená angličtině.
Paulie, even though he is voiced by the same man (Petr Rychlý) like in the original, sounds to me (i'm Czech) worse than in the original. And in the original, he was at his best in mission Radši si zvykej, in the beginning (you should really try to listen to it).
And Vincenzo in czech in the original is a lot better than in the remake

What? You dont like Paulies voice? Hes an absolute legend for Czechs. By the way Paulie has the same voice actor like in the original game as well. But its kinda dissapointing you didnt hear Sam in the remake. Sam has the best Czech voice acting in my opinion. (Also the same voice actor like in the original Mafia :D )
Fun fact, every front characters in original Mafia (without Tom) is his model is modeled how they voice actors looks in real. (czech actors)
When you said that czech sounds a bit like russian, you were right. Almost all slavic languages sound really similar, like czech, russian, slovakian, polish, ukrarian etc.
Fun fact: Billy, one of those gangsters in the mission Sarah is the same actor as Eddie's voice actor from Mafia 2.

You should hear the dialogue between Tommy and the Whore in Czech in that mission Saint and the sinner. That was bloody amazing

But while roaming around in the story chapter Fair Play, at the main entrance of the farm outside the city, the one you visit in the one of the story missions, there's the main entrance Bridge right to enter the farm, there's a small creek of water right there right, so simply walk along the right side of the bridge passing through the creek, and walk through the bushes that are there, and you should be inside.

Well, comparing Mafia to Cyberpunk is little unfair.
If I got it right the lipsync tech was firstly available only on paper, CD Projekt Red helped make it practical. So, critizing Mafia devs for something they couldn't use is ridiculous. To facial animations and lipsync in general, It was developed in English speaking country with goal to make it more "global", so I totally understand that it has lipsync in English and not Czech. I can be dissapointed by it, but it is expected. Czech dabing was made like at the end of development (last months before release, according to VAs). That really didn't help at all to the issue you had with it, Roxy.
And want to add that Mafia Remaster was probably in development much shorter time (expecting like 2-4 years tops) than Cyberpunk 2077. Teaser trailer for that is from 2013 and still not finished... god I'm old. :D
Nice video comparison, tho. I was enjoying original Mafia when you started to play it and was afraid of the Remaster, I don't like it too much when I comparing it to the original version. Graphics are on top, but that story telling is kinda ruined in my eyes, some jokes are missing and some points of the story are gone too, that was the magic souce behind it. That unexperienced people was able to make it and tell the story by themselves. Now they have hundreds people working on it with specifics how to do the job, the "innocence" of the original is lost, Remaster is different game with relatively same story, just different story telling.

lip sync is only for english...2002 game has czech lip sync
Original game had automatic lip-sync for every language. Nowadays are all languages made this way. Well, ok, Cyberpunk is different story.
Czech version feels kinda like its been translated via google translator back and forth. Lip synch is really bad and writing is kinda wierd, like wooden, nobody speaks like that especially in case of Tommy. Saliery and Frank are good, but Paulie is still definitely the best, idk why but he still sound like there is true lunetic deep inside his head hiding behind jokes and charisma, just like in original, i dont believe english version has that in any form. Czech original is at completely different level at least in my opinion bcs every character voice and personality was unique

The Czech version is SOOOOOO aggressive. The English version says "cake-eater," the Czech one straight up says "fker." It's quite wow. They even drop a C-bomb in the first scene where Sam and Paulie get in the taxi. It's insane how vulgar it is. The scene with Ralphie also has a different tone. The line "we ain't nothing alike" is changed to "No fking way." People have no idea. :-D
In general, I get hate from my Czech brethren for preferring both original and the definitive versions in English. Better acting altogether. They could swear a bit more, though.
Actually, Czech is more then mix of French and Russian mix of German and Russian, since we have lot of german words and we are Slavs

I am from the Czech Republic and to be honest when I played Mafia:Definitive edition I had to play it in english, I don't think the czech voice actors really captured the essence of the characters. It all felt a little out of place. Then again I consume almost no form of media in czech now, becouse I just like english voice actors more then czech ones. (Didn't play the original btw)

Well Czech is Slavic language so it´s like Russian but Russian is lot different from Czech, closes to Czech is Slovakian language (as we say in Czech: Naši Slovenští bratia :D (Our Slovakian brothers), most best thing about Czech is that we have lot of swear words more than any other language (in english it´s mostly F*ck, but in Czech is loooot more K*rva, P*ča and more and more :D ) about French... there is almost nothing close to French and French is also completly different language family (or maybe I am just weird :D ). Mafia 1 Original has better and different words in Czech as Dan Vávra sad in one of interviews: Czech version is better from english one :D in voice overs, also Tommy is voice by Marek Vašut (same as in original one) Pauli also same one (Petr Rychlý), Sam also same (Luděk Čtvrtník) but Don Salieri has different one not because Antonín Molčík didn´t wanted to do it... but unfortunately he is dead :( so there is no way to do it differently. But for us Czech is finaly one game in Czech Voice overs after looooong time... even KC:D didn´t have it and that is Czech game from Czech :D...(well now there will be mod for it but still :D )
I'm czech and I don't like the czech dubbing. I don't think it fits well here. But from what I know, Tommy (Marek Vašut) and Paulie (Petr Rychlý) have the same actor as the original and they sound good in my opinion and Paulie sounds a lot like the original but it may not fit the new Paulie.
I don't like Sarah's voice I don't think it fits well and feels forced at least to me, so english is better here. Also the original czech Sarah wouldn't fit this new badass Sarah, she was more gentle.
Salieri doesn't sound bad but the original is better, Frank sound the same as the original.
Vincenzo sound weird and I don't like it. Ralph doesn't sound bad but I don't believe his stutter, the english is better but the original czech the most.
I prefer the original in czech but the DE is better in english in my opinion but that may be because czech was the main language in the original but DE is primarily made in english.
Also the Lip sync not matching up is really annoying.
