    Suzanne is definitely a prodigy, you are lucky to have her. This is a brilliant and out of the box idea
    And she picked such a great destination, I loved Puerto Rico when I visited in 2009. Old San Juan is certainly a beautiful area of the city. But the El Yunque forest is even better

    I did this for my wife for her Fiftieth birthday. I got her through check-in, security and passport control by having her stand back while I explained what was going on. It wasn't until we arrived at the gate that she was going to Naples, Italy. She loves pizza so I took her to the restaurant where pizza was invented. Superb!

    • @JTV13
      @JTV13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pizza was actually invented by an Italian guy in Texas. At least that’s was what I heard.

      @@JTV13 I’d check that again. It was Raffaele Esposito in Naples (not the one in Florida) in the 1880s. Ike Sewel of San Antonio, Texas came up with the Deep Pan variety in the 1920s and Chicago claimed it later.

    What a fun adventure! I would love someone to do this with me! When I non-rev (my Son is a Pilot for Delta) it is sometimes like not knowing exactly where you’re going. One time I was in Minneapolis and needed to make it back to SLC for work by the next morning. My Son worked his magic. He said “I can get you to SLC by midnight BUT you have to go through JFK.” Looking at a map, you know it’s the complete opposite direction from SLC but I made it home by midnight and in First Class✈️😊✈️

    Jeb, well... Glad Suzanne got you to come to "my neck of the woods" (live in the Metro Area). At least you've enjoyed this "island hopping" experience together.
    Oh, and the City of San Juan was founded EXACTLY 500 YEARS AGO, in 1521. What Juan Ponce de León* founded in 1508 was Caparra, the first European settlement in the Island, like 3-4 mi SW of the Island of San Juan Bautista (where the cruise ships arrive / leave). The Spanish escaped from the mangroves and its' diseases there and went to "the Rock" at the north of the Bay. The ruins of the original "Casa del Rey" (the King's House) stand on PR-2 in the Villa Caparra sector of Guaynabo city.
    More tidbits as the series goes along...
    * after that he went to die near JAX in FL trying to find "The Fountain of Youth"; problem was it was here in Puerto Rico: "Los Baños de Coamo" natural mineral waters at Coamo, a ~ 90 minute car trip due SW from the SJU airport on the PR-52 Luis Ferré Expressway.

    Of course I would love a surprise trip! Because I’m always under a heavy workload and I would always love some time to just break loose and enjoy some time off. Also, the train at the Atlanta airport gives me great memories. For the past two years, I connected flights to my Christian music camp at Atlanta. I would fly either United or Delta. But this year I am flying to Dallas Lovefield to make my connection instead of Atlanta. I’m flying Southwest this year. I guess bye-bye Atlanta. I will miss you Atlanta.

    I wonder why Suzanne chose Delta connecting in Atlanta, when you could have flown to the same destination directly from Charlotte on American or from Raleigh-Durham on Jet Blue?
    Maybe the extra flight added to the intrigue. Or maybe she wanted to keep the driving portion of the trip as minimal as possible... but even if you live IN Greensboro you can't be more than 90 minutes drive from either of them.

    • @lvthud
      @lvthud 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope, EYW Key West is the shortest at 4800 feet, Orange County is 5700 feet. The take offs are interesting because of the thrust being rolled back shortly after take off for noise abatement reasons. I have a feeling I have been on a flight with Jeb out of there, but yes, it's worth doing, especially if you can find a route with a 757 or a 767 going a short distance.

    I was actually looking at the Amtrak Chieftan last night thinking of a quick trip. It's because of your video that I found out about it.
    I saw there's a Chieftain stop with in 15 miles of my Arizona vacation home. I never knew that. However a 2.5 hour drive to where I can pick it up in Colorado.

    A wrap is not a sandwich it is a burrito with sandwich fillings instead of your burrito fillings

    To answer the question at the beginning, YES, I would let someone do this to me, but only if it's a person that REALLY knows my likes (and dislikes) when it comes to traveling.

    I knew it lol! I just flew back from Puerto Rico last month into Atlanta on Delta’s A330-300 in Delta One....did not like the way the seats were arranged...couldn’t even get a good engine view..

    I'm surprised Puerto Rico still doesn't require a Passport to get there. I know with it becoming a state in the future for the United States of America after being a territory still. If you go to some of our other Territories being American Samoa, Guam (especially getting through Tokyo, Japan for a layover), and/or The Northern Mariana Islands. They'll appreciate seeing it after you fill out a visitor card and get through customs.

    Have you ever made the error where you have a dyslexic moment and say, "Hello Jeb Getters, I'm Get Srooks" or at least said "Jeb Setters"? Now that would be absolutely hilarious and deeply appreciated for me on my end for sure! Quality blooper and comedy platinum! That said, knowing me, I most definitely would do that from time to time in your position there!

    Didn’t Noel Philips’ missus do this for him using low cost airlines? He ended up in Katmandu. I suspect, however, that Noel wasn’t totally ignorant of what was ahead of him before he set off.

    I plan trips all the time and I have a huge surprise for my wife. It is our 10th anniversary and my 50th birthday so I'm planning a big surprise for wife. Not telling her where just gonna tell her to pack for the tropics. Due to covid might have to wait until 2022 but already have it all set. I am superb at making itineraries.

    Granted, I'd be picky about who I'd allow to do something like this for me (what? I'm usually the planner of the trips), but I'd at least consider it

    I once was booked on a trip blind, but got overbooked. After that, they said it was Auckland (my dream vacation)..
