In general, first class is usually not worth the money, because most travelers, including myself, want to book the cheapest possible ticket and save money. So a lot of times the people who are flying first class either redeemed points for an award seat or got upgraded due to status with the airline.

AA first class is very poor compared to other airlines

Yeah, first class is rated better on airlines such as Delta who is rated as having a better product and service.

Having just watched a review of Qatar First class, AA’s ‘first class’ is a bit of a joke in comparison
Yeah even some of Qatar's A320's have lie flat seats for their shorter flights throughout the Middle East.
