    In this video, I’ve put the beard trimming on hold to let my beard grow out for a better demonstration on a future product review.
    That said, I’m switching things up and focusing on a product that I’m hoping many of you out in the GroomReviews community can share your experience and results. The Derma Roller.
    I was inspired to put this video together after a recent conversation with a friend who’s really struggling with his inability to grow a full beard.
    His facial hair is thin, he has a very patchy beard and it’s taking a toll on him. In addition, he’s taking beard growth supplements, but they’ve done nothing for him.
    He then asked me: Do you think I should use a Derma Roller?
    And my honest response was: What’s a Derma Roller?
    For many of you, you’ve known about microneedling and dermarolling for a while, but for me, this was off the radar.
    I’m not going to pretend like I’m an expert in dermarolling. Or, that I use the Derma Roller every day to grow a thicker beard or to keep my skin healthy.
    I honestly have not had a chance to test the Derma Roller more than a few times.
    That said, I feel we can all grow and learn from each other.
    To help everyone in the community struggling with a patchy beard or similar beard growth frustration, this is an opportunity for those with experience to share their honest results and make the community stronger.
    But, for those of you in the same boat as myself, let me explain what I’ve learned about the skincare technique of dermarolling, also known as microneedling.
    The Derma Roller is basically a rolling drum, lined with hundreds of tiny needles, attached to a handle that you roll across your skin.
    With dermarolling, these micro needles create tiny injury sites along the surface of the skin, prompting the body to kick into action to repair and heal. It does this with increased blood flow and circulation to the area, along with an increase in collagen (for strength) and elastin (for elasticity).
    Aside from hair regeneration, the derma roller is known for its skin rejuvenation benefits and overall improvement to skin health as a result of a dermarolling skincare routine.
    Now, some men claim using male pattern baldness solution Minoxidil in combination with a derma rolling regimen proves to deliver greater hair growth results.
    Not having used Minoxidil myself, I defer to the community to share their experience. However, I’ve read that Minoxidil should only be used after 24hrs have passed since dermarolling. (Please consult with a licensed professional before using to avoid any harmful side effects.)
    For hair regeneration and beard growth, experts recommend you stay within the 0.2mm and 0.5mm needle size range. At this size and smaller, the top layer of skin (epidermis) will still be penetrable to drive collagen, elastin and increased blood supply to the area.
    To avoid causing damage to your skin, use of a needle larger than 0.5mm is best for implementation in the care of a professional.
    Of note, there are several important things to remember when using the derma roller. These include, but aren't limited to the following:
    1.) To prevent infection, sterilize the roller head in an alcohol solution before and after derma rolling.
    2.) Wash your face with an antiseptic or antimicrobial cleanser to remove oil, dirt and impurities from your face or skin.
    3.) Apply gentle pressure on your skin, ensuring not to puncture the skin and draw blood.
    4.) Do not use the Derma Roller if you are currently having acne breakout.
    5.) Do not use the Derma Roller on your lips, eyes, sore and open wounds.
    6.) Do not use the Derma Roller if you are allergic to metal.
    7.) Do not share your Derma Roller with other people.
    As far as rolling directions, you can use the derma roller horizontally, vertically and diagonally or in a combination of your choosing. This can be done anywhere from 5 to 10 time on each area of the beard, working your way around your face.
    For beginners, a derma rolling routine of once per week is best until evaluating how your skin reacts to the derma roller. Once comfortable, microneedling twice per week is best in order to give the injury sites sufficient time to heal.

    Great video! Thanks so much for this! I really think its great how you are trying to help the community. I just have one question. Should you sterilize the Derma Roller after every pass so as not to spread dirt from one section of your face to another?

    • @GroomReviews
      @GroomReviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +122

      Hi, Ilovewicked23. You are most welcome! Thanks so much for the positive feedback and support of the channel. I greatly appreciate it! As this is a product that needs consistent use over time to demonstrate results, I know that tapping into the knowledge of those in the community that have more experience with the Derma Roller is a great asset to strengthen the community as a whole. To your question, it is recommended that you first wash your face with some kind of anitmicrobial cleanser to remove your oils and dirt from your face, so as not to spread around the face with the Derma Roller needles. The Derma Roller should be sterilized before using for roughly 5 to 10 minutes in an alcohol solution. You can then use it on your face to completion. Once finished, you should sterilize the Derma Roller again, before putting away. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching and being a member of the GroomReviews community! All the best!

      I’ve used minoxidil in the past and I did see results but I wasn’t consistent with it. And today I decided to give it another shot using the roller. And it’s funny you say that you use both after he said you “shouldn’t” use the roller and then apply minoxidil because it can cause side effects. I might for some people, let’s just hope it doesn’t for me. Let me know how your progress is going. I’m going to also use the roller maybe once or twice a week only. While applying minoxidil twice a day.

    Good review! I’m not into the beard look, I enjoy more of the stubble look when I’m not clean shaven for work. Based of your review of the Phillips Norelco Multigroon 7000 I picked one up and I love it! It’s awesome for a stubble look on the face but it is also perfect for the buzz cut look for my head! It’s been an all around powerhouse of a grooming tool! It feels very luxurious in the hands and is made extremely well! Keep putting out good reviews!

    Great video! I'm going to try a derma roller soon. I have been using minoxidil for almost 2.5 years and I have seen pretty good progress but more than 50% of my beard is still vellus or transitional and doesn't look very full as a result. If only those hairs would turn terminal I would have the beard of my dreams. I hope that the derma roller can help with that. If I remember I will make an update when I have used it for a while.

I will (try) come back to this comment every month or so and tell you guys my update.

    Use forever?: Yes
    If the patient has androgenetic alopecia (male balding and female thinning), he or she will need to use minoxidil forever. If minoxidil is stopped, the hair will return to the way it once was and progressively get worse. In fact, all treatments for androgenetic alopecia are the same - use is forever.

      Hi, Nikhil Nikhil. Thank you for your question. From feedback I have received from the community, results vary greatly per each individual. Factors include consistency, additional products incorporated with the derma roller, such as Minoxidil, and length of time the regimen has been carried out. Before entering into this process, it needs to be understood that this is a product that needs consistent use over time to demonstrate results. Several individuals have told me of their 9 month to years long journey incorporating Minoxidil that has helped yield results, while others have found the process difficult to maintain and gave up after a few months without the results they expected. All I can say is that results will vary by individual and if taking the journey, go in with an open mind and understanding of this. Hope this helps. Hey i have a .03mm derma roller and minoxidil and i have been derma rolling every second day and applying minoxidil twice a day. I use 1 mill of minoxidil all over my beard just to try and thicken the whole thing. There are areas that are thinner then others and i know you should only use 1ml of minoxidil at a time, should i be just applying it to the thin areas or is 1ml enough for the whole beard erea? Also can anyone who has been doing it for a while tell me how long it took for them to see results. Thanks heaps. ✌️

    Can you clean it with water even though your just using it for yourself ?

    • @GroomReviews
      @GroomReviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      Hi, Bismark. Thank you for your question. Keeping the device sterilized with an alcohol solution both before and after use is very important when using this device. This device is being rolled on your skin and creating micro puncture sites. Cleaning with water will not kill off any bacteria that could potentially be on the needles from use and you do not want to roll dirty needles back over the skin, causing potentially more irritation or a new skin issue. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and being part of the GroomReviews community! All the best!

      GroomReviews after you sterilize it with alcohol do you wipe it off with a a wash cloth ?

    • @GroomReviews
      @GroomReviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Hi, Bismark. After sterilizing in the alcohol solution, you should let the derma roller air dry on a clean paper towel. You don't want to wipe the needles, as you could add unwanted bacteria to them and/or snag pieces of the wash cloth while wiping. Hope this helps. All the best!

    • @BisToClutch
      @BisToClutch 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you ! And one more question. Before I get the derma roller fresh out the box. Do I still have to sterilize it?? And also after I start the process do I wash my face first

    • @GroomReviews
      @GroomReviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Hi, Bismark. Yes, soak the derma roller in the alcohol solution out of the box. This product has been through a manufacturing process and you want to ensure the needles are clean and sterilized to help prevent infection. It is also recommended that you first clean your face with some type of anti-microbial cleanser to remove oil and dirt from your face so you're not rubbing it all over when you are using the product. Hope this helps. All the best!

    Its been 2 months im using derma roller and i started to get some results (like soft facial hairs) can i clean shave now to get better results? Some of my friends are suggesting me that clean shave helps your beard to be thick and grow faster.

      Hi, Vishnu. From my research, 0.25mm to 0.5mm looks to be the consensus range to stay within when using at home on the beard. That said, it is not recommended to go above 0.5mm for personal use and a professional should be consulted. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and being part of the GroomReviews community. it honestly doesn't matter what products you use or what devices you use if you don't have the genetics you don't have the genetics maybe try a mustache instead or a gotee or just accept the fact you cant grow a beard

    For those using minoxidil, aren’t you worried about the like 2% chance of going infertile?

    • @ajaybachate7137
      @ajaybachate7137 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That mostly happens with finasteride bro..minoxidil is somewhat on the safer side also you are applying it and not taking it via some pill..even for finasteride applying will reduce this problem of infertility

    • @fodge5395
      @fodge5395 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's finnasteride. Minoxidil just promotes more blood flow to the area I believe.

    I have one and use minoxidil after it no heart rate issues. I usually do it at night and also use beard oil on after both. I’ve been growing for a couple of months I do notice it working slowly. It’s definitely a long haul project.

      Do not use minoxidil right after using derma roller because the roller creates pores and minoxidil can get into contact with the blood sometimes which one should avoid so give 24 hours of time before you use any beard oil after using Derma roller.
