    need some sort of protector for the teeth at the end of the axel if you damage those you wont be able to line them back in the axel housing grooves that fit on the teeth

    I custom made my own tool as well to replace the bearings on my 4runner how ever I went with a more sophisticated built I went to my local junkyard took a grinder with me cut off half of the rear end axle and made my custom off of that it’s amazing!!!!!!!!!

    Your 1st project would have worked perfectly with more patience. I work with pullers all the time at my job. The one thing I have learned is never, never, never use a impact on a puller!! You will strip the threads. What I would have done since you have Mig welder is get a good size steel rod or bolt and weld a T-handle to the puller bolt. Also make sure the puller bolt is a hardened bolt with fine thread. Also support the brake plate so the axle hub can push through freely somehow. I thought you had a good idea!!! Oh and before I forget always use shaft saver spacers between the puller bolt and axle end!!

      The hydraulic press option is better if it is available.

    I bit the bullet and bought the tools to pull axle bearings. And I bought a new rear axle bearing for my truck. And replaced the bearing. Therefore leaving me with the old bearing that I’m going to weld a pipe on it and have another puller. Then I’ll probably sell the one I bought.it is a universal puller for many bolt patterns.

    • @WhatAmIGonnaGet
      @WhatAmIGonnaGet 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@J_Whitley987 I think I got a 2" standard pipe, and found some flanges laying around in a scrap yard. Look like kind of standard stuff. In case anyone wanted to throw something together. We have lathe, were able to touch it up - but I do not remember actually needing it. The holes in the existing flanges were over-sized on what I found, so it worked.
