    Great job, and maybe you've figured this out by now, but you should use the "print and cut" feature in Lightburn to align the job. It can be a little tricky to figure out the first time, but it works great for projects like this. Lightburn should change the name IMHO from Print and Cut to "Large Job Alignment Tool" or something like that.

    Nice!
    For alignment you may want to add an initial step of cutting 2 reference points the size of some round magnets on the separation line. After the first cut, place the magnets into your reference wholes, remove and turn your material into the opposite reference point and finally burn the last half. Hopefully this would make an easy and fast reference.
    Thanks,
    Don

    Hi @That Mom with a Laser Watch the latest lightburn video. You can use watermarks to get nearly perfect results for oversized items (they also show passthrough doors, but you should be able to use your method also). I'm gonna try it soon (My laser is down at the moment, had to loan out my chiller) but I imagine you will be able to try it before I do. Awesome looking stuff though. -Rob

    Researching lasers now. I found your videos on the Aeon Lasers and I like a lot of what they have to offer. Do you think the add on camera would be helpful in getting perfect alignment after a piece flip? My one hesitation on the AEON compared to the Glowforge Pro is their pass through slot and software for unlimited length. With the Mira 7 workspace of 27x17, can I cut something 27x34? (doubling the depth of the workspace with a piece flip) Thank you for your videos, they are so helpful!

    • @ThatMomWithALaser
      @ThatMomWithALaser  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Erica. I don't think the camera is necessary. However, they are including it in a preorder special they are running. If you contact them with my link above, they will let you know the details of the special. The GF is a nice machine, just know that it is designed for hobby use so it is much slower than a Mira, which is more industrial. For example, to engrave 14 watchbands on a GF can take close to six hours. On a Mira, the same file would take about an hour. I do have a video on my access door which allows me to make larger items. th-cam.com/video/bdA6wiE7yss/w-d-xo.html

    • @ThatMomWithALaser

      @@imgay4jadewest there is no passthrough on the MIRAs. Instead, it’s an access door that opens on the front. I never use a camera and haven’t really needed one if that’s any help. ☺️

    • @ThatMomWithALaser
      @ThatMomWithALaser  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jennifer Jones it was a circle so I didn’t need to flip anything. I used the same half circle both times! For the monogram though I just rotated the second half of the image so that it would accurately meet up with the other half.

    Curiosity what you have inside Chinese laser so why didn’t you go with a glow Forge instead because it’s American made yes just laser that you have has a bigger build volume and yes it has a rotary but do you feel that without a vision camera it has giving you issues in focusing stuff and I would love to work with you in some way or fashion if we could collaborate with each other especially because you’re here in South Florida and congratulations and putting Amanda Acrilicks has a video she rocks she has great Acrilicks

      The Aeon is about 4 times faster than the glowforge, bigger, it does have a camera (optional accessory), doesn't need to be online ever, and is ultimately one of the best lasers for the price point. Comparing it to nearly any laser out there (like a Boss) is no contest...its closer to a Trotec in those regards, but priced like a boss, and Aeon's QC is done in the US.(Florida actually, so she is supporting Floridians)
      You're looking at her Ferrari and asking why she didn't go with a Pacer. :)
