This video is a true hidden gem. I have been golfing for years, but listening to you explain the basics in very broad terms to someone that knows nothing about golf forces you to remind yourself of the fundamentals. Too often you can become dizzy from instruction thinking about angles, checkpoints, and forces of power, forgetting the key concepts.
I have been playing for 6months and had a lesson, nothing was working, i could swing the club but it was forced and very tense, this lesson has changed my golf, im so thankful you uploaded this video, everything has clicked with my swing, and im on my way to break 100 legitimately, no breakfeast shots etc, playing by the book this year as my golfing goal. Thank you so much and what a wonderful game it has now become to play!!!! 😊🙌🇦🇺
just making contact with the ball for your first time is an awesome achievement. I took my girlfriend golfing the other day for the first time. she never once missed the ball. I was super proud of her. Golf is hard.
His swing plane is so pure for never playing and he is already turning his wrists over at impact. That's crazy for a beginner to have that feel. He could be very good if he sticks with it. Great lesson and great foundation!!
I am thinking to start golfing and this video is an excellent introduction..I see how important is to take the right lessons from a professional who can actually convey his knowledge. Thank you!
Great comment! I really hope you will start playing golf. You will enjoy it very much! And getting a good golf pro is indeed a very good start! Have fun!
If you want to see something truly amazing, check out Ron Sissons ( a Canadian PGA Pro) giving lessons to beginners and experienced golfers. The before and After is truly remarkable, and the fact that he takes absolute beginners in one hour from terrible to striping the ball is something to see.
This video actually improved my swing greatly! Thank you and Jos for this. I'm very glad Jos did this because that's not an easy thing to be filmed and shown to everyone. Thank you guys so much.
Great tips! I'm trying to get into golf and never knowing where to actually start. Only extra thing I would have said to him is something that was said to me when I first wanted to learn how to swing, which is to keep my head down and eye on the ball for much longer than I think I need to. I tend to want to see where it's going to go more than keeping my eyes down to ensure solid contact.
I actually liked this video. From absolutely beginner - to still a beginner, but we all saw that slight improvement. He needs to be congratulated. He's done well, so hopefully he improves! My first lesson? June 2021. I'm a newbie as you know, and I have played golf before (roughly once a year) - but you'd call me a 'weekend hacker' (like 40-50+ handicap or even more - and didn't care to do much better). Once my Comp Tennis days were over (earlier this year I decided, sadly) I decided to take up Golf. Fast forward 8 lessons in and my SW-7I shots are extraordinarily consistent (with the odd shank here and there, obviously). Point is, in this three month turn around with lessons and practice, i know when I hit a bad shot, I know when it doesn't feel right, I know when my tempo is off etc etc. I have high hopes for the future, and so do i for this guy learning and improving Golf. Fantastic - and well done to you for being patient. A trait I know that is part and parcel of teaching. Well done. Dann.

this is so good. the lesson on generating speed by being loose and letting the club fall is exactly what I've been trying to teach my girlfriend who is also a total beginner. I will show her this video as you are clearly a much better teacher than me ! 😂
I just wanted to say thank you! Your instruction has improved my ball striking and overall golf game. You are a treasure and if you ever find yourself in Birmingham, AL, drinks, golf and dinner are on me!
This was entertaining to watch! I forgot what my first lesson looked like, what a hard game! Keep posting videos like this and any other tips that you have. I still struggle with balance! At the takeaway I pull my body forward and force myself onto the balls of my feet.
I went for a lesson today on chipping and the 3 points I have to work on I at this point in time are struggling to grasp That is with years of playing Surprisingly this guy despite being inundated with info is picking things up so well Amazing to watch that he can take on board so much when I am struggling with 3 things which are not really that hard all things considered
OK now I feel more relatable. Having watched all the utubers saying they are hitting 80s within 1 year of starting the game makes me feel I am retarded.
Where did you find this dude? I thought he was from the special squad when I saw him hit the first few balls. I hope he manages to stop flipping his right foot when he swings the club...
Do you remember your first golf lesson? In what year was that?
A long long time ago!
2014
2021
I am about to have my first golf lesson. Should I go out and buy an inexpensive complete set? Or just a few clubs?
Hi Lisa, no no I don’t think that’s a good idea, I would wait until your teacher tells you what is the best in length and shaft flex 💪

Thank you for your kind words daddar15!
I should really stop forcing everything at once. Thank you :D
I learned a lot from this too..thank you

So happy I found this. I’ve got my first ever golf lesson next week
And did it go well??
This is by far the best video you have made Tom,, probably the most honest video by a TH-cam teacher, well done 👍
Thank you for the compliment Michael! I appreciate this.
@@Weplaygolf you deserve it,, tired of watching you tube teachers turning 18 handicappers into single figure golfers in 10 minutes,
I used your nice comment at the end of our newest video:

Great teacher, I wish I could have him as a teacher!
If you come to Belgium, you can book a lesson!

Thank you very much TexNano!
This is like watching someone get thier first Fortnite win, start of a lifelong addiction

Yes, there is a lot of information to process in a first golf lesson.
Nice!!
Just subbed,super impressed!
Thank you for that!
First swing: 1:35
Last swing: 29:15
original content from Tom! Nice one!
Thank you nTo!
From Indonesia : nice tutorial, I have been follow you my favorite coach, when you come to Indonesia again?
Thank you Untung! No plans yet, but who knows. We're looking always for nice places to record new videos! On which Island do you live?
@@Weplaygolf I hope you to visit my country again, thank you
God I hope my golf instructor is this patient
It's my first day, Im looking like this guy. The journey begins 😈
OK now I feel more relatable. Having watched all the utubers saying they are hitting 80s within 1 year of starting the game makes me feel I am retarded.
This really does sum up how complicated and rediculous golf is.
Weak ass comment
This makes the swing so complicated for me
This guy a hockey player?
No, he’s a professional jockey, jumping. No balls involved…
This bloke has confused me
I get hes a beginner but my god he's terrible 🤣🤣. Arms like noodles
That’ll be $200
very bad idea to start with a 7 iron....
Where did you find this dude? I thought he was from the special squad when I saw him hit the first few balls. I hope he manages to stop flipping his right foot when he swings the club...
Why so mean? Probably because he is an Olympic equestrian athlete and they use a lot of legs and feet to control the horse.
Very wordy hard to follow.
So talented!! I'm getting better and better by using Golf Kinetics :) You should try it too!
This is a good video but this is cap… like a lie… hes swung a club before…
