- FIRST EVER TIME ON A GOLF COURSE!? BEGINNER GOLFERS FIRST EVER HOLE! - We all have to start our golfing journey somewhere, for our man here this is the start of his journey to be a high handicap golfer, then hopefully turning his high handicap into a mid handicap and you never know, maybe even become a low handicap golfer in the future, but how do you get a handicap?. so many questions are asked when we start playing golf, what golf clubs should I buy? do beginners need fitted golf clubs? when should I get on a golf course? how much money should I spend on golf clubs as a beginner? should I have golf lessons? in this video we answer all of the above questions... lets do it, and lets do it now!
I played a round by myself when I was a beginner. When I got back to the house, where a number of family and friends were over for a meal, they asked me how did you do? I said 89. They said that was pretty good. My wife then felt the need to inform them I only played nine holes. This is NOT a joke. :)

Ok, I may be kind of a weirdo, but, I started playing golf January 2016 and did not play my first round until june 2016. My first 5 or 6 months was spent on the range trying to find a swing. Played my first 18 holes and shot a 108. Fast forward 3 years and 9 months, I am currently a 4.5 hcp. It needs to be said, EVERY day I do something golf related. If the course is shut down due to weather, I go to a simulator, or in my back yard chipping, or in my living room putting. Rain, sleet, or shine, if the course is open I am on it. Great video, cant wait to see how he gets on.
Sounds like me! Fast forward 8 yrs and I went from a 108 to a 110 tho....

My first round of golf, Cocoa Beach Country Club in Florida, 1997. I was 32 years old, shot 116 and fell in love with the game. I was a young Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy having a great time with my Mess mates, enjoying a few cold beverages, a lot of laughs, at my lack of game as well as theirs. They taught me to enjoy the walk, the friendship and camaraderie, and the story-telling after the round was second to none. Fishermen may own the tallest tales around, but golfers aren't very far behind at the 19th hole! Well done young man, welcome to the obsession!
Went out for my first time back in April, went into it thinking I was going to hate it. Friends talked me into it. To no surprise I did terrible, but the experience of enjoying your friends company and learning to get better together was enough to buy me in. Bought a a full set of used clubs and have gone twice a week since April. Confidence is up and my golf is so much better then when I first started!!!
Foxy will break 100! My first round I somehow pulled a par out on the second hole....took me about a year to do that again. The occasional good shots kept me coming back. Hope you're as hooked as I am Foxy. Best of luck.

Such a big help this video. Very self conscious about getting out and playing with experienced players but as my teacher once said, “you could come to me every day for 6 months but the first round will always be bad”. Looking forward to getting out now 😃
Great first hole by foxy and he couldn’t have had a better coach for it. I remember my first round, I spent about 9 months at the range getting a swing going before I went out on the course. I didn’t use any woods I used to use a 3 iron off the tee and I remember one hole on the back nine I flushed my 3 iron off the tee over a ditch in the fairway and from that moment onwards I was hooked
Started playing at 50.
Had lessons and then played a Par 3 course a few times.
Gravitated to a “proper” course.
Unbelievably parred my first ever hole , knocked in a ridiculous putt from about 60 feet !!!
Thought this game is easy , four hours later I was a gibbering wreck.

Best advice as a beginner I was given was play every hole as a six. When I broke 100 I then played each as a five.
There was always a positive out of every round.
Main thing is don’t beat yourself up and enjoy it.
My first golf hole I ever played ??, I remember the sound of ball hitting tree, ball splashing into water, Yelling "FORE" 6 times, multiple hits from the sand and then I heard the sound of the ball rattling in the bottom of the cup. From that point I was hooked, 40 plus years later I enjoy the game and have a 6 HCP. :). Don't ever give up young man !!
I don't remember much about my first round. I was 5 or 6 and that would have been around 1962 or 63. I remember my dad cutting down a 5 iron for me and not being allowed to hit from the tee box. Dad would hit his tee ball and where ever it wound up, he would throw down a ball for me and we would play from there. He told me that if I got in the hole before he did, he would get me an ice cream cone. I didn't get that ice cream cone for quite awhile. Miss you dad!
Great video!! We’ve all been there Foxy, been playing just over a year now and got my first official of 17, it takes time and is frustrating, but keep enjoying it and putting in the time and the scores will come. Having James by your side will help and bring you on loads!! Keep at it 💪💪
Keep going fella you're doing great. My first round was at batchwood gc in st.albans, I went round in 147 about 12 years ago, I'm a little bit better now......

My first round of 18 shot 134, still loved it! That was 3 years ago .I live in the UK and have young kids so really struggle to get out between Oct- March as courses so wet! on a good day I can shoot -mid 90s depending on the course. Dont have an official handicap but reckon it would be around 25 depending on the time of year. Love the game now and nothing better than a round of golf now for me, prefer to a few pints, and watching any sport live or on tv! Still have bad days where shoot a 110 but still love the game.
I took some lessons when I was about 7 years old but we stayed on the driving range and the practice greens. I am 34 now and just played my first round two days ago. I hit a few good shots and a lot of bad ones. I was a little nervous and embarrassed but the group of people I went with didn't say one word and they were so nice that I started to relax when my balls went in the trees and bushes even one up in the air and right back on the ground where it started I got less and less embarrassed. I ended up having so much fun that I bought a used set of clubs today and going for a full 18 tomorrow. He did great compared to my first time
Yes he will. My first was in 1973 at The WORCESTERSHIRE in Malvern Links. With Intersport irons Sam Seead 1,3,4,5 woods and Penfold Ace balls. I WAS 15. SHOT ABOUT 90. First handicap was 7 at Cleeve Hill, Cheltenham 2 years later with my Wilson Staff Blades.
First round age 18 in 1978 Caerleon Municipal course, now looked after by Celtic Manor!! I was a decent hockey player playing for Newport, thinking it would be easy. A set of 1960s blades with a hickory 2 wood. Stuffed it straight into a bush. Much to delight of mates and girl I was trying to impress........ 9 holes score in the 80s
Didn’t take the game up again for at least 20 years and then only charity rounds linked with work as a Bank Manager.
Finally took plunge and joined a club at 50 10 yrs ago. Have to say I love It even playing off 22. It’s played for fun now with mates around S Wales.

Played historic Brackenridge GC in San Antonio Texas. Played 9 holes shot 62!! That was 30 years ago and have been hooked ever since!!
Not sure he needed a buggy to get to that first shot! But can definitely relate, I'm nervous enough hitting a tee shot playing with mates, let alone to thousands of youtube viewers!

Remember my first round of golf as it was only about 18 months ago. On the 3rd hole I hit what is still my best ever shot. Par 3, 10 yards off the green to the right which I was happy with. Went to chip on, thinned it, hit the flag and dropped in for a birdie. All downhill since.
My first round was in March of this year. Shot a 115. And had golfers elbow so bad I couldn’t play for 3 more weeks. The inside of my elbow was purple for a week. Breaking 90 with regularity now. I’m sure he can break 100.
What a great place for your first round. Mine was at Southport Municipal. Bit different! Got my first ever par there too.
First ever round of golf I was about 11 or 12 and my dad got me a half set of lynx junior for my birthday, took me to Pontefract park (just a council run course) played absolutely awful as you can imagine, but, I hit a 4 iron off the deck for my second on a par 3, after a topped tee shot with a driver, and put it to about 4 ft, that was it then, hooked!! Unbelievable feeling
We couldn't afford to play at a golf course when we started all them years ago we would go over the school field and make up a few holes and play with any club and ball we could get hold of
35 years later still love the game socially and competitive and at a golf club 😊 once you get the bug your hooked no matter how frustrating it gets.
First round of golf was with my dad and I was probably 18. I did terrible and we let two different groups pass us. By the end of it, my dad gave me his old golf clubs so I would have something to learn to play with. He lives far from me so it's not like we can just play anytime.
I'm 26 now and I finally have dug those clubs out and have been just focusing on golf for the last couple weeks. Can't wait to go with him again and actually have a competitive match.
First round ever was a 133 about 11 years ago when my stepdad took me to the local course (Windmill Hill, Milton Keynes). I'd messed around at pitch and putts, and the odd go at the driving range but the course was a very demanding, tough experience
Picked the game up again this summer after not playing much at all in the last 8 years or so, and recently shot a career best 83 on a very windy inland links course (Cleeve Hill GC, Cheltenham). Fallen back in love with the game, and cant wait to go back home next season and show that home course who's boss!
Great first hole me Fox! I’d say a first hole without a lost ball...and mostly in the fairway is a huge success regardless of the score!

I wish I could remember my first hole! I do remember my first round, though! That’s mostly because my dad let me drive the cart a bit, though! I don’t actually remember a single shot from that day, though I do recall just missing plowing into a sand trap with the cart!
I was horrendous. I got a 7 on the last hole par 4 and thought that was fantastic and it brought me back. Enjoy Mr Fox

My first round I scrambled with a experienced golfer and was hooked. After a few rounds scrambling I started playing 9 hitting my own ball. Don’t wanna get too frustrated to start!
I've never golfed on a golf course before, i'm starting golfing lessons in september so we'll see! I am super excited though! Love watching these videos to learn as much as i can!
My first round was two months ago, the only thing I remember was the social part. And it was the first time I ever toughed a club. That was where I fell in love with the game and two months later I am almost breaking 100.

Yup I remember hitting 127 but having so much fun not even caring about my score just about being out with friends and having a few laughs, the score has drastically improved but the fun never ends!
I don’t remember my first ever. I was about 12. I stopped playing from 15 years old and started again 14 months ago at 32. I remember that first round and tee shot. It was at Tilgate Golf Course in Crawley. I shot a 98! Such a hard course and I’ve never shot under 90 there since lol and I’m off 11.3. I hit a 3 wood on the first and pured it down the middle. Walked off with a bogey. It was 32° heat and I played well. Probably only went to the range 2 times before hand. Once I played that round, I was hooked again.
I’ve been playing for half a month or two months and I already did 2 pars! It feels really good, I really like this sport.
I remember making one cardinal error on my debut. I parred a par 3 - over water as well. It made me set ridiculous expectations for myself. I also hit a lot of fresh air drives that day, and a lot of very chunky chunks.
Don't remember my 1st round, but I do remember how satisfying it was to hit some good shots for the 1st time.
I know how the young man feels after my first ever game I decided to go and have lessons he did OK with an 8. I lived in Cyprus for awhile and played this course a few times a good golf course.
Good effort Mr Fox you’ll definitely improve as you gain confidence with that good shot everyone plays in a round of golf.

It takes big stones to play your first hole ever and do it with a pro. Huge props to you. You'll settle in fine and be striking it well in no time.
I started playing in 1997 and scored a 109 on my first round and loved it. Got down to low 80's a couple years after. Fast forward to now and still in the high 80's to mid 90's. Need a lot more improvement.
I was about 6 or 7 years old and I teed my ball up on the fairway as well as the tee box. 😂
I was 9 yrs old and pretty much topped it down the fairway and 4 putted every green

First game of golf at crookhill park GC in conisbrough in 1997. Went round with a borrowed half set and scored 120. Got the bug and never looked back.

First time on the course about a month ago and it was fantastic....best shot...5 iron solid strike and about 180-190 yards just off the green....I don’t hit many good shots with irons 😀
Interesting, so as soon as a ‘target’ is in place Foxy tries to HIT the ball with too many tops because of that. Relax, ignore the target, the club is selected so just play it. Much harder said than done, but if you can get it early on then perhaps easier?

I grew up with a kids set and would just hit plastic practice balls in the yard. It wasn't until after high school that I actually went to a course. I played a full 18 hole par 3 course. I can't remember what i shot but I think I might have parred one hole and that was enough to get me to come back. I played the par 3 course many times before I finally went on a regular course and shot somewhere near 120 I think.
At the driving range I could never quite get any height on my driver. My first ever golf shot off the tee was a sky high slice that landed on top of the 8 story condo next to the fairway.
My first round of golf was when I was about 10. Never hit a golf ball before and it took several hours to play 9 holes. It was up near Skye, blowing a gale with horizontal rain!

Just shot my first round last week with a "vintage" incomplete set of clubs and a moldy leather bag older than I am, but I managed to shoot 102. First time on the course other than sneaking onto the ponds bass fishing
Stay patient and the rewards will come. Hard to stay patient in this day in age with how fast the internet gets us whatever we want so fast.. work on rhythm and solid contact. Short game and putting are crucial to help salvage a score. Distance and speed control. I walk all my putts off with comfortable steps for distance up to about 30 steps and it works for me.. I practice a stroke for every 5 steps.. example is like if its 12 steps slightly uphill, I'll think 15 in my head for a committed stroke. 10 steps downhill, I may think 5 or less depending on severity of slope.. idk.. I just know I rarely 3 putt. You're welcome to whoever this helps.
My first game was 9 holes last Saturday I was terrible. I only got 5 shots off the ground, but it was fun.
Did 18 on Sunday got more off the ground then not had a great time again.
Challenging stuff but I think I'm gonna stick with it!
I had been twice to the range, using an instructor both times. Then I played my first course. Remember it very well. Hit 146. A lesson later I played again the week after, and I hit 118.
My very first round of golf we were playing 4 man scramble best ball and we went to first tee I was first up never played before and totally missed the ball on my first attempt….groans from foursome behind us and right away my buddies stepped up said hey play thru if your gonna be asses about it! Had a great time got to use a few of my shots (short game not my drives lol).
Great course, got back from a holiday there a few months ago. It was my first round back after a few years out with injury, needed to par and birdie 17 and 18 to break 100 and managed it. Great way to return.
Looking forward to seeing if he makes it over the ravine!

I just started a few months ago and my first round was at a lower end course and I spent 99.9% of the round in the rough which was like 4” long but I still had an absolute blast
Just played my first 9 holes ever. Shot a 61 but had fun and did better than I thought I would. Need to improve with my driver(left hook) and my short game but looking forward to playing a lot more!

Good luck man, I'm 23 I just literally started 3 weeks ago. Not gonna lie it can be very intimidating when you start. I would definitely recommend going with an experience player if you can so you can watch and pick up tips. My score has improved every time. You just have to stay with it and not let the bad shots get to you
Played my first ever 18 yesterday (Friday)... it was a strugle (finished double par) but i had a blast with a good buddy! I can not wait to go out again, i would have played 36 if it didnt get dark.
Yes, I played a golf course with lots of water hazards. I lost all of the balls that I bought before I got to the 9th hole. I hit 1 good shot with a 9I. I thought “Hey, I think 🤔 I can do this....”. 20+ years later I’m still working on it. I’m now a 18 handicap.
Just shot a 10 over on a par 9. Had the time of my life and did amazing 2 pars too. Could have easily shaved 3 or four shots off too.
What I remember the most about my 1st round of golf. My golf range buddy insisted that we keep score. " We learned to golf together" He said we shot 126 and 124. The other thing I remember was looking for golf balls to finish our round.
Don't remember my first proper round, used to play up at St. Andrews when I was wee. Mostly just the balgove course till I was a little older. I think my first round on the Eden Course was at 10 or 11, then typcially played the new.
Had a few years out of golf but making a heroic return this year
First ever round was in Donegal playing a links course, drove the ball amazingly but everything else was terrible.. now I drive the ball terribly and everything else is average 😂
My first round of golf was today! I went out with a buddy of mine who is very good so I was nervous. Once I loosened up I had a lot of fun and started playing a bit better. Didn't keep score but I'd say I hit a 75 on 9 holes which I will take!
First, and last, round of golf was 6 years ago. I was in the army, but I was stationed at an air force base. Got drunk and pretty sure I'd give a wack and just pick up it up and move to the next hole. Just starting to get into golf and I'm hoping I can have a serious game soon

My first round was with my dad about 10 years ago. I shot a 98 on 18. Today I'm around a 5 hcp. If I never played baseball I'd probably be scratch but my baseball mind takes over everyone in a while and I get some wild looking swing lol

I went to holiday at a villa in the Aphrodite hills when I was about 15/16 I’m 22 now just getting into golf and hoping to come back here for a round or two

Lost his cherry on yt lol. I think I was 20 the first time I used a golf club and straight on a course with hire clubs. My mates were only a handful of games advanced so to say we were shite is an understatement. But we had so much fun laughing at air swings etc. That fluke hit that went straight and with air brings you back. Fun is still my priority but do take it a bit more seriously now, like trying not to laugh at someones bad tee shot, especially if I dont know them...

Just played my first ever and hit 124. Was happy with my driving (worst part of my game on the driving range) and let down by my approach and putting.
It was 25 mph winds, with 40 mph gusts so that didn't help
Just played my first round in 20 years, I hit some nice shots but also topped and failed to hit a lot too. Still enjoyed it and not put off. I'm looking forward to my next knock
I noticed that you guys are sharing clubs. My question is, are they tuned/set for him and his skill level? If not, wouldn't it help him more if they were, as opposed to clubs set for you?

I can remember my first hole, I was 13ish at an executive course called Derrydale. First hole was a 150 yd par 3 over a pond, I had rental clubs. Used an old wooden 3 wood hit it over the pond and the green, I think I got a 5 but I can’t quite remember
Yep, just went golfing for the first time ever today and that's about how it looked for me too ahahaha. I actually felt like I was so bad that I'm watching videos of other peoples first time golfing to make sure I wasn't the only one 😂
My first round played in Morocco on the champions course in Agadir I scored 36 over par using rental clubs, I hit some beautiful shots and made some awful shots whilst on the greens with the amazing 3 putts hahahaha, I did what I call a PGA shot when they skip the ball over the water and had it land on the green about 6 feet from the pin I was so buzzing then i did a 3 putt again lol
My first ever round of golf I had an abysmal experience dealing with cheapskate old people who paid for a no split group and then split up three times. They went in right after we did so we had to let so many people play through and sometime after that I had a group of 3 old geezers roll up on me and stand like 5 yards from me only to watch me take horrible shots and laugh at me. It was a horrible experience but I would like to go again where I’m not getting driven into left and right
