Let’s not forget, in 1983 Martin was in contention for winning the British Formula 3 championship, only to got beaten in the last round by another driver who Martin fought against the whole season. And that driver, he’s called Ayrton Senna.

Aw man, I'm already dreading the day when Martin decides to hang up his mic and headset. I started watching and learning about F1 over ten years ago with Martin and Crofty as my guides. He's definitely made my childhood with his commentary.
As soon as he said “we’re forbidden to overtake the safety car” I was like… 🙄 A safety car for 2 ex. F1 drivers? Not to mention their Le Mans experience and sports cars too… Martin can drive… take the stabilisers off him!
@@Andy_ATB that is simply not true and irrelevant. during touristshfafen or however you spell it, ANYONE can go absolutely BALLS OUT with their car, they simply can't overtake from the right, only the left. So that wouldn't be an issue at all over here.
Make a doco series. Send Martin around the world to as many tracks as possible doing this. Even when the safety car was slowing down he made it interesting.
At 14:14 when he said "And you so quickly learn this track.." yet there's me who's spent 4 years on racing sims & I still haven't mastered the track enough to set a single incident-free flying lap.
Martin Brindle is great. I can listen to him all day long. Enormous talent! I would love a ride along with him anywhere. Even around my neighborhood. As long as he gives commentary!
Great to watch Martin enjoying himself in a somewhat capable car. It'd be even better if you could sync the audio to the video. This segment was like watching F1 channel highlights where the sound is consistently super delayed.
I’d watch Martin read the bible to be honest! A man capable of conveying the technical aspects of vehicle dynamics to a layman of the street. Humble enough to bring us on board and watch the talent of a man never crowned for his brilliance. Martin, I salute you sir, you are a living legend!
Always cool to see Martin riding around but how about syncing the audio with the road? shifts don't match and when he says I'm turning left he is going right???
Loved to watch the whole video, thanks for uploading this. Could listen to Martin Brundle all day long. (Unfortunately A/V sync is not ok, though, by a few seconds)
Racing around it now seems nerfed, a no noise section? Is that in effect all the time? Hope the safety car was only out for an earlier incident in the day as that's a shame to not be able to go out flat out through the entire track.
wonder what would this video be like if the late great Sabine Schmidt were driving the pace car or even one of the cars showcased here... I miss her...
Appreciate the video being put up but I'm really struggling to watch it with the audio being so out of sync. All the gear shifts are out of place etc. Really frustrating. Its possible its a TH-cam issue so I will go with that and hope that it didn't get put up like this.
Crazy isn't it? Pretty sure it's just down to bad editing. Frustrating that a professional TV broadcasting channel is making videos that are worse than the average youtubers videos. Love the Martin Brundle content and would like to see more of it, but this video is weird.
@@00Donkey00 Yeah I didn't want to point the finger at the editing but I think you are right. Still got it. Set the world speed record for a production car too. The XJ220 remains the fastest Jaguar ever produced and when launched in 1992 and, at 213mph, had the highest maximum speed of any production car
When we were young I did cast the odd thought after how Martin's (and my own generation) would feature as 'Grandads' and now we are starting to know. I do fear Martin has lost some of his characteristic feistiness in this piece - it happens to us all - and is nothing to be ashamed of and is no loss of dignity and happens to us all over the fullness of our lifetimes. This piece is still way more interesting than watching Max Verstappen win the umpteenth F1 race this year. It says a lot about the integrity and the prestige of F1 that the formula cannot find a consistent berth in either France of Germany these days. We do know that the 'commercial rights holders' continue to 'rack' the category to within an inch of a track owner's financial destitution and yet there is still no getting away from the fact that the Germans and the French make some of the best motorsport machinery on the face of the planet and they are both 'off the scale' in terms of motor sport heritage and it is a crying shame. Of course, Martin is a 'winner' from F1 whilst as the father of two amongst us and, these days, we all know and love Alex, who has a public persona, for the insightful motor racing pundit he now is and has become. Guys like Jim Clark are the losers from F1 as he never did live to get to settle down on that farm in Scotland and raise a family.
man, could you really not have done a better job with the onboard camera view on street?! that is so sad. how are people to get an impression of this amazing track?!
Audio is so badly out of sync you can tell from the onboard shots showing the gear changes on the HUD happen a second after the sound is plugged in. The revs and gear changes are just all wrong.
