The accident he had that badly damaged his left foot didn’t help...if you can’t feel the brake pedal properly of course you’re going to struggle to win a single seater race, especially in a field of drivers of that calibre. History says he was quick in his F3 and World Sportscar days.

Living proof that you don’t need to lead a lap to be an F1 legend.
Brundle, just like Johnny Herbert, was quiet a good driver whose career got heavily affected by a foot injury, but just like johnny he still managed to drive in f1 despite having issues with his feet..... That's what you call commitment and mental resilience... This is what you call go hard or home and he went hard and it paid off for him!! Well done, Martin!!
@@martenspitzner408 I don't know if he was quiet but he was a totally underated F1 driver. he was the only driver who could challenge Senna in F3.
@@martenspitzner408 Johnny was really quick in his days and luckily got a bit of that back later in F1. But neither were really bothering Senna or Schumi.
@@Cloxxki I think he was talking about Brundle. Who also managed to sometimes challenge Schumacher on his early Benetton years and the same with Häkkinen. Brundle was pretty good.

If you heard Sky Sports F1 coverage of Indy 500 2019, when Alex in the commentary booth, the resemblance of his voice to his father is uncanny!

Great piece!! Alex sounds so much like his dad, by that I mean the words he uses “my genetic material is still behind the wheel”. I have so much respect for Martin Brundle. Murray Walker was the voice of F1, but Martin is the voice now and a man who looks at the sport he loves with a critical and sensible perspective. They should let him into these rule making meetings and let him voice his opinion. F1 would already be a much better sport if they did. More like this please SKY! 👍🏻

Alex saying "I believe in you man" and patting his dad on the shoulder is an adorable bit of role reversal. This is a joy to watch!

Mr Brundle has always been a mega legend for me, just like Alesi, Berger, Coulthard, Massa, Barrichello, Webber, *Jos* Verstappen, and many other non-F1 champions. What other people say or think about them, I don't care. At all.

Aston Martin makes the most beautiful cars in the world. I'm not a fan of most British cars, but Aston is seriously on point for me. I would kill for a Vantage.

That radar system is really cool. I know modern high end road cars have something similar but nothing as accurate as the one here. Can't wait for the race tech to trickle down to road cars.
What an excellent wholesome father and son experience. I never was able to have anything close to that with my father unfortunately but I’m really happy seeing the two of you able to get on like you do and share something you are both passionate about. Never take it for granted and make as many moments as you can together like this.
Its great, a shame not that many former F1 drivers race anymore, GT cars have so much to offer when it comes to racing, even at a high age.
Done a few track days and man this makes me nervous. Having 20 guys on track and only a dozen corners to remember is hard enough.

This place is so slippery in the wet. The surface of several corners is 90% BMW M series tyre rubber.
Martin Brundle is a serious, serious driver. Not a messer by any stretch of the imagination.
I loved how annoying Martin was with not getting P1.

its amazing how much time has passed, i remember Martin racing F1 in my youth...
I hope we get to see this kind of thing again. I just watched this for the second time and its still so cool to see.
For any of those who may be wondering, the music used in the beginning intro is Outlands by Daft Punk, from their Tron: Legacy soundtrack.
You have to wonder how Martins F1 career might have gone if he had just once had a decent car. A genuinely nice bloke.
I think he was the only team mate who ever gave Schumacher a run for his money when he drove for Benetton. At the time nobody knew what kind of legacy Schumacher was going to leave. The fact that Briatorre always regretted replacing him with Patresse sums up both Brundle's tallent and luck as a driver.
That was more enjoyable than I'd expected it to be -- Martin and Alex Brundle have a very nice rapport.
Everyone watching this, this could be the first time seeing Alex racing. If your Intrested his Instagram offers so much more of an insight to what he does 🙌🏼

Sky is already in BREXIT mode with geo blocking.
No Geo-Locking on this as it’s not F1 content so they aren’t restricted by their broadcaster contract with FOM and Liberty Media. They only have to Geo-Lock F1 stuff because the F1 broadcast rights are held and operated by other companies in other countries.

Martin is a class guy.
A week or so on Assetto Corsa Simulator and Martin would have known the Nordscheife like the back of his hand, which would have improved his raceday times. I'm not saying a Sim is a substitute for the real thing because of course it isn't, But for getting familiar with the circuit itself its a great time and money saver and with the expensive motion rig set ups available(if you have the money) its getting pretty darn close with laser tracked courses etc.
Well he has run many laps on the Nordschleife else he wouldn't have gotten the Nordschleifen Permit which allows him to drive GT4 cars in the VLN.
They literally used Tron music in the opening

Nice one! One slight thing about "Nordschleife": German doesn't have silent vowels at the end of words. So the E at the end is always pronounced. You know, like the correct pronounciation of "Porsche".
