Lol i remember getting VR missions in 2000 before the rents actually let me get Metal Gear Solid. By the time I got to play MGS I was breezing through the enemies from all the training I got through VR missions.
it would not let me play special missions until i put the original game disc in first.. i assume it did this for everyone? even though it was a training game lol

Mystery Level 10 used to scare me shit out of me when I was a kid. Because of the eerie sound effect when a clue's been spotted and a dead man in a room, I stayed uncomfortable throughout the whole mission. Tension is real.
I'd like to think if I saw that it would've blown my mind as a kid but I probably would've thought, wtf all that for an image hahah.. it's cool how VR is referenced a lot in mgs2 though

I recall that the whole reason this was selling was because of it advertising that you could play as "the Ninja". At least, that was the reason where I lived. It doesn't say that he only has 3 missions and you need to unlock his missions in the first place. Damn good playthrough.
Considering how short the original game is outside of story and cutscenes and how little gameplay there was. This REALLY should have been inside the disc to give players more game time to play more with the mechanics.
in Jepan it was. MGS Integral had Disc 3 which is this. if you bought the UK version of this game, you'll find the disc is printed as Disc 3. not sure if intentional or Konami lazy and just used the Integral disc design.
That PSG1 shooting was Excellent Snake. 10 year old me that loved this game back when it came out would have been impressed. I always grabbed the diazepam.
I just imagine: "VR Sneaking Suit" and you are whisked away into another reality. Sure wish we had the funds and technology to make it a reality. Maybe Sony will do it one day?
The easiest way to beat that mission is to shoot the large enemy on the left once as long you don't shoot another missile at either 1 the 2 soldiers will start arguing with each other eventually falling to their death
@@cloudvii8756 mine was the fucking final Puzzle Mission. and theres a hidden trick on the Final Variety mission. it allows the two giants to fight each other with only one getting hurt by a few stingers
Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions is by far some of the most fun I've ever had with Metal Gear Solid 1. I love using the weapons to dick around with the guards.
Well they do seem to respond to c4s famas bullets grenades claymores Nikita missiles and stinger missiles I know in advanced mode grenade advanced mode stinger 1 minute grenade and 1 minute stinger I just throw grenades or shoot stinger missiles in the opposite direction until snake dies
It's really too bad these didn't get remade with The Twin Snakes. I like the gamecube version, but not having the VR Missions is a huge blow to the remake.

In the manual of Metal Gear 2 on msx it is said that Solid Snake worked for the CIA for 6 month in the 90s before leaving because of the hierarchy (Which isn't surprising considering Kojima's love for detective stories) I like to think of the Mystery missions as the vr training sessions he could have gone through back then to test his deduction skills before becoming an agent

I would play metal gear solid saga when Im in the mood. As I get older then story meaning keeps changing and I learn something new. Even for metal gear solid 2. I was around 5 years old man. And Thanks to vr training on mgs 2 and mgs 1. My search and destroy skills on cod are God like. I always go back to vr training for training for all shooting games.

I managed to play Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions for the first time on my PS4. It's challenging, but addictive. The puzzle, sneaking, and socom levels definitely broke my brain. A strategy guide is highly recommended.
The halcyon days of automatic target tracking to male up for the shortcoming of the PS1 processing limitations. I miss it all. The kids are so spoiled now with their uber next gen stuff. There was just something so romantic about these old games and the user unfriendliness that i sincerely miss. Thank you for posting this video. Lota of good memories with me and my friends all sitting there with a case of mountain dew, a stack of frozen pizzas, and all the weekend all nighter passing the controller around to see who got the time trial bragging rights!

Can not agree at all. mgs5 has the most disappointing story as it doesn't seem like it goes anywhere and alot of it seems like filler in the series but it also has plenty of positive as well like art direction, graphics, some level of humor, and easily the best stealth action gameplay in the series. It’s narrative is massively flawed but damn there’s still a lot to be obtained from it. I can understand why people don't like it though.

Didn't remember much else of the game, this video is legit. I sucked ass at it back in the day. I remember watching someone beat the first disc boss (wasn't it sniper wolf?) and then instinctively presses the power button after switching discs... can't make that shit up hahaha!
yeah i did that on another game called Heart of Darkness or something like that and we lost so much progress, xD we didnt want to start over again before like 1 month later haha, (back then many people didnt have memory cards or they usually bugged out and deleted your saves)
Always found it funny the spin off game that had almost nothing to do with the overall story was made canon and arguably one of the most important games going forward in the lore. Without this game Raiden would have never gained the skill required to save Snake at the end of 4 and if that wouldn't have happened than Snake obviously would have never made it to the server room to shut the Patriots AI down. In short without the training Raiden got doing these missions. The Patriots would still be running the world in MG Verse. Kinda crazy to think about.

If you like playing the PC 🖥 version then yes but if you like playing the ps1 version like me then it's a different story

Huh, I just played through the 2D games and noticed that they updated some of the music tracks from them and resued them for the VR missions. Neat!
