I know I’m subscribed to him but he hasn’t uploaded anything in years and I don’t remember his name… do you know who he is? Edit: Considering you do it later… why didn’t you turn 180° before going back up at 1:18? Wouldn’t that move you forward since getting up puts you closer to where your feet are? You use that a bit later to get past lasers quickly…
There are several different Japanese gamers who have done VR Missions time attacks on TH-cam. I'm not sure which one you're talking about. As for the movement at 1:18 - when you crawl out from vents or narrow spaces, you're forced into the same direction for several seconds. By the time you reach the first frame you're able to get up, it would be slower to spin around.
The first TAS I've ever watched was a MGS TAS by theenglishman. That was like 6+ years ago. I've come full circle now! "Good work. You're as good as they said!"
I loved the trick with punching air, then switching an item and it hits a guy ahha. Nice grenade tricks too. Very amusing to also see super fast gun shooting.
I started replaying this game today, I only completed Sneaking mode but I'm surprised that most of the TAS tricks works fair enough with some degree of player improvisation.
This game was pretty underrated. I remember buying it new in (03/04’) simply to play as the ninja. Took awhile to earn that option but the levels were still fun and quite expansive to my surprise! It teaches you techniques/approaches possibly overlooked even if you completed mgs1 numerous times. I remember being let down to see there were only 3 levels with the ninja when unlocked(why??) It would’ve been cool to play the other combat/stealth missions with him as well, minus the weapons/mystery categories of course(I mean his face is on the freaking cover). But either way I remember playing this quite a bit back in the day and it took awhile to complete. You killed this !!! It was very fun to watch
I know the last input is at 1:36:51 but after that point and the "Confidential" screen, why did they left the video play for like 7 minutes? Is it because of the animated Backgrounds?
Hargey _ Some missions require restarts to manipulate the RNG seed for ideal enemy positions. There were also other missions where I just happened to get perfect RNG without manipulation. As for Mystery 9, the gimmick was that the criminal has such poor eyesight that he could mistake Solid Snake for Liquid Snake. I do a restart to manipulate the guard's position, but even if you know which enemy it is, the game won't let you complete the mission until you've hit two event flags: putting on the mask, and getting the nearsighted enemy to salute you. It happens very quickly, but at 1:08:57 you can faintly hear a brief rustling sound effect which is the start of the animation of the guard saluting.
Mystery 4, 6, 8 and 9 have random perps in the lineup position, while Mystery 7 also has a random set of guard patrols with different footprint trails. The first three Mystery missions are not randomized as they're basically glorified tutorials meant to teach you more about the category's gimmick than anything else.
The TAS loads from a savefile that already has the Practice Mode missions completed, which was done for the sake of making the run infinitely more entertaining.
