Thank you so much for your recipe. My daughter and I made them and it's now a family tradition. Also...you're so right about not washing the mold! We washed it before using it the first time. Our Bunuelos did not come out ..they kept sticking to the mold. After watching your video again, we wiped the mold really good and they no longer got stuck! Thanks again!

Sift your flour when you add it in, it'll help reduce lumps before you sift it in the bowl.

I've seen these tools, didn't know they were used for "bunuelos." My grandmother made bunuelos by rolling out the dough, frying, and sprinkling with the cinnamon sugar. Will look for these Rosettes and will start a new tradition. Thank you, love your video.

Sorta...but not really, since churros are soft in the middle, and these are all crisp and very delicate. Also you could use sugar & cinnamon but often they are covered in powdered sugar or granulated sugar. Yum!

We have a similar recipe that we use in Kerala, and we call it 'Achappam'. We use rice flour and sesame seeds, we don't use cinnamon though. Also the mould we do wash it. but we put it in the oil that is put in the pan heating for a while and it works just fine :) Maybe you could try that?

  • @TheLoverRoy

Excellent video, thanks! The one thing I can report is that I did *not* wash the rosettes after buying (just wiped them down as indicated), and then part of the metal finish one of them (aluminum?), came off in the oil at the beginning and spoiled that batch of oil. SO, I'm wondering if it might be helpful to "clean" them in a separate small batch of hot oil first, and then wipe them down before putting them in your main batch of oil. I kept practicing in the spoiled batch, but the liquidized metal stayed in that batch of oil the whole time....

If you wash the mold, you wash away the patina that is formed with the hot oil, which is what makes it non-stick, the same happens with cast iron pans.
