I can't wait to see the Overlord movie hopefully soon but what a way to leave viewers off with this fantastic season 4 finale! What did everyone think about the season overall?
Overall I think that they made a good call to make the last arc longer. It was more important than the dwarf and empire arcs. I personally don't think they can adapt 2 volumes of the LN into a movie but we'll see what happens.
I think it'll end up the same as Overlord always has been anime fans will enjoy it, many LN readers will say too much was cut, and then we wait for the next season. the cycle will probably continue as per usual but hopefully both sides will come out happy.
Season 4 is great and they really made a right call of "postponing" the The Paladin of the Holy Kingdom Arc and turning it into a movie instead. Without spoiling anything, the horror and anguish on the The Paladin of the Holy Kingdom Arc, in my own opinion, is way worse compared to the The Witch of the Falling Kingdom Arc. Hence, this is a good progression before the movie coz the The Witch of the Falling Kingdom Arc is a culmination of what is cooking up on the previous volumes. I admit, there are lots of cut off contents, but I guess it can work as an allure to pull more people on reading the LN for more meat and details. I do hope the sales of this season and the upcoming movie will be enough to make a grand season finale of Overlord anime which will have its 10th year anniversary 3 years from now. Imagine, 10 freaking years, we are witnessing the greatness of Ainz, even longer for WN and LN readers. I am happy to become a part of this.
The worst part is that climb still thinks the girl is good. Hé isn't thinking "she is crazy" but "It's my fault I must protect her for eternity since I failed".
Renner is the biggest yandere i have ever seen, even in animes dedicated to yanderes. she literally sold EVERYTHING she owned just to live for eternity with Climb. And she said she just merely only needed to sell off her kingdom, meaning if she had more she would've gave it away no hesitation, that is just mind blowing honestly. Pure dedication but also patience, she is top yandere in my book that's for sure. Showing how far she is willing to go to get what she wants. Can't wait to see the movie when it comes out and I bet season 5 will happen
Overlord is a money maker season 5 100% will happen just a matter if they make season 5 a couple LN volumes and also do a season 6 or if they take 4 novels for one last season. Author said vol 18 will be the last and 17-18 will be longer than normal so there is potential for 2 more seasons but most likely it'll be season 5 and then we're done imo
@@AHBrandonReviews yeah its money maker and people are hungry for more overlord content. The author had to split volumes 17 in to 2 parts since he ended up writing so much. Since there are many plot threads that need to be wraped up. Would not be surprised if he decides to write a sequel or prequel after he finishes the curent books
@actionvids35 I read the reason the novels are ending was because he started getting burnt out on Overlord so I suspect he will pull an Isayama and do something completely different whether that's open a spa like isyama or a completely different kind of story to regroup after the long time writing of the Overlord story
@@AHBrandonReviews He expected to finish this by volume 18 (I think it used to be 16). However, every time he writes one volume after volume 11 it ends up being around 2 volumes instead. Volumes 12-13 where supposed to be one volume. Volumes 15-16 were also supposed to be one volume. By this metric, volume 18 will become volume 18-19 and this will end by volume 20 or something. No wonder he is a bit burned out.

But because the writes so much and its such detail he feels burnout and needs a rest. Perhaps after a good rest and break he will come back to write something more
This episode and this entire season really has felt pretty different. I’m not sure why but I’ve felt more engaged with the lore and the world than I ever did with seasons past. Maybe it’s because this has felt like an “earned” ending. As shown in the flashbacks during Renner’s honestly brilliant song and dance number, it felt as though we’ve always been building to this in the background and to see it come to fruition, just feels satisfying.
that's probably what it is, even though for a while we've known she had been pulling the strings behind all the other royals the flashback really ties together what has made this season and the ones prior so good is how well thought out it truly was for so long.
@@AHBrandonReviews it’s why, while I feel really bad for Climb who’s now forever trapped in this abusive relationship and will probably lose his mind, I can’t find myself to be mad at Renner. Yes she’s a monster, a manipulator and we’ve seen how far she’ll go to get what she wants but I just find it impressive. I think because we’ve known her true nature for a while, I can set that aside and just look at her feats. She is insanely smart, enough to impress Albedo and Demiurge, which by all rights should be impossible for a human. And as Albedo said herself, they used like 90% of Renners plans to take down the kingdom, which is crazy. In the end, while I feel for climb, I kind of respected her for working so hard towards Her happy ending

@@starlad2703 Well she is an impressive character and one done extremely well and should be taken as one of the examples for a great female character. Taking that aside if you combine the things from the novels it was not that surprising, since she was an incredible genius born into a royal family and part of the struggle for power since childhood. Adding to her being an underdog, most likely faced with all kind of scorn, fear, loathing and jealousy not to mention because she is female and because of that the least likely to inherit the throne and most likely to be sold off as a bride to some noble or other countries royals. It makes her twisted and evil character feel natural and logical... Climb was her everything and she sacrificed everything and everyone to stay with him for all eternity. And in Climbs case he always did say that everything he does is to repay her kindness to him and also his love for her so while bittersweet it's still something he wished for, so he might have some struggles but unless his character completely changes he will be loyal to Renner even if he realizes her true self.
For someone that just said that Ainz doing his BBEG act was pointless, coming up with a whole Disney song and dance is quite contradictory. But it was still awesome to see!
The final bit with the ruined capital really shows that El Nix's decision to turn the empire into a vassal state was probably the smartest move in his entire life.
I love the Mare scenes! Telling Climb to run because he was going to destroy that place first was adorable lol. And man, the budget really went into Renner's singing. It's funny because people were asking what the point was of turning her into a demon because "she already was one" and the best response was "now her looks match her personality". That Albedo scene at the end was freaking perfect. Also man, the king got the rawest of deals throughout the entire series.
The king was an ineffective, oblivious fool; a puppet sitting on a throne of corruption and suffering, propped up by nobles who exploited the citizens of the nation in the worst possible way. Ultimately, he was brought down by one of those idiot nobles that he either could not or would not rein in. The fact that his downfall came at the hands of his own evil daughter is very fitting; he couldn't even see the darkness that had crept into his own family. He got what he deserved. It's the citizens who deserves better, since they had no say in his rule.
idk man. the king was benevolent and just but that was about it. in any other story a king like that would get a happy ending but he was more concerned with being a good man than a good leader and it cost him literally everything.
The funny thing is that Mare wasn't supposed to run into Climb at all. He was just indecisive in how to destroy the warehouse section (were Climb was) and he just casually saw Climb and panicked that he would have probably killed him if he had just started blasting earlier. That's why he was looking so relieved when Climb ran away.

Two great scenes in this episode. 1) the Disney like the song that Renner spontaneously sings; and 2) Ainz's speech, where life is unfair and I am the death. Gotta rewatch that.
It was something Ainz just wanted to do just "for him" but it actually carried more weight for Albedo, Demiurge and Renner and he just doesn't even know that (as usual).
@@supmugi9 For Albedo and Demiurge demonstrated that Ainz is willing to grace Renner with her presence and by extension, declare that "Renner is a valuable asset to Nazarik and I'm willing to accept doing something below me to get her on our ranks". And by doing the whole "Hero against the Demon Lord" schtick, made sure that Climb thought that EVERYTHING that happened was just Ainz's whole scheme and painted Renner as the "poor" victim of circumstances, cementing her everlasting loyalty to her.
They didn't show Mare levelling everything, pumping himself up with little peptalks while turning the city into a blender and turning everyone into juice. They also didn't show Albedo planting forests of villagers. Still it was amazing.
I knew when reading the part about the villagers that it wouldn't be in the anime, because it was too gruesome, even for overlord. I remember I got chills just reading the description
Man, I feel so bad for Climb the way he was set up to believe everything, leaving his humanity to become a demon for someone who only sees him as her own play toy and he won't be able to be freed from it for who knows how many centuries.
Cute seeing the monsters cheering with Mare. Climb you did well against Ainz and now you're eternally with your beloved princess. Nice that they recapped how this played out from the princess's POV. Philip getting his last dessert, but at least his last moment is with Albedo.
I love how Ainz took the essence of shonen, and said what Madara said. “Wake up to reality.” And threw that boy across the room like a dust rag. I was cackling as it happened.
Some Notes from this episode (correct me if im wrong): 1. Mare given the job to annihilate and destroy the kingdom and Climb didnt get killed by him because of agreement between Renner and Sorcerer Kingdom and he afraid that he can't klll everyone that he should kill 2. The agreement start from Demiurge meet Renner in Season 2 3. The reason Renner selling out her kingdom is simple, she just want to spend time with Climb forever (doing sex and make him like a toy/loyal dog) 4. Aura trying to take back the Goat artifact from season 2 5. When Climb running with Renner, Renner she doesn't tired at all running while holding a heavy sword. This scene we can conclude Renner starting to turn into demon (Demon Imp) 6. The red orb in Ainz stomach is World Class Item and in the previous episode when you look at Fake Ainz (Pandora's Actor) there's no red orb on his stomach, that's the reason why he cant get through PDL's barrier 7. In the throne room the one who kill the King is Renner 8. In the throne room Climb looking at Albedo and Demiurge smiling, the reason they smile because both of them think Climb is so foolish 9. Albedo handpick Noble who swore loyalty to Sorcererous Kingdom, that's why there's Marquis Raeven and some noble 10. Yes, Lord Philip is dead and being tortured by Albedo by being impaled from rectum to mouth with other people (well, think of it like making a tree with a bunch of people) 11. 90% of this planned by Renner from season 2. Renner has stat lvl 5 Genius and lvl 4 Actrees and lvl 1 Imp 12. Renner actually didnt want to fully show her capabilities, but because Ainz come into the throne room to join her little play, she must show her full capabilities as to not dissappoint Ainz just like what Albedo said to her in Nazarick (she didn't expect AT ALL) The Movie will be about Holy Kingdom vs Jaldabaoth arc. This one truly scary especially New Sword that will appear in this movie And Light Novel almost end (i think the authour said it will end in volume 18) and this episode actually adaptation from volume 14, so after this for Season will be adapted from volume 15 and 16 (Half-Elf God Kin) and so on.
Also since they knew Raeven was the most competent noble, they blackmailed him for loyalty and had him pick all the competent nobles to save. Albedo was not the one who picked.
Very good I got all that except number 4 I forgot about the failure goat item given to Demiurge by Ainz... Also It's hard to say when the light novel will end Maruyama been saying he wants to end the novel for years... but just can't seem to do so.. For example in end Voulme 14 he says just 3 more volumes and now he says just 2 more volumes... Although volumes 15/16 can be thought of as one long volume broken up into 2 pieces... ( I also feel they are the weakest in the series and not strong enough to stand as complete volumes... unlike the holy kingdom and man in the kingdom arc... as nothing really happens til the last chapters of each..volumes..)
The most fascinating to me is Renner being a Disney Princess, and the plan was shown while she does the singing. Making everything is connected, as Albedo said how 90% was Renner's plan. Fantastic wrapped up episode.
Man Climb has lost everyone he really cared for. Brain, Gazef, his kingdom. He basically just has the princess. One thing I want to see is him interact with Sebas, now that they both work for Nazarick
So in the LN we what happened to Philip... he was dragged out by albedo where he saw a forest but instead of trees it was impaled humans... spears piercing their corpses through their mouths... a pretty horrific scene...
I notice the moment the king offers his daughter hands to Climb, Renner was surprised, you can see it in her eyes. For a moment, she actually fears that might be a convincing offer that will derail her planned stage play to turn evil
Just finished the watching this episode, felt very satisfying end for the season and this plot. Loved how the king tried to order Climb to take the princess away but she said that he was hers and won't listen to the king. Wonder if she actually going to have the patience to "share" her first time with Climb. In a twisted but well deserving way, both got the loves of their lives for eternity.
F for our boy Climb Also the name of the final Arc of season 4 (this Arc) is "The Witch of the falling Kingdom" I think you can guess who is the witch Also Renner was actually quite scared of Ainz She was originally planning to "slack off" and not show her full potential so that when her Position in Nazerick is questioned or if she ever wanted to be promoted she'd show her full potential But she threw that idea out of the Window after Ainz personally joined her theatrical play She believes that Ainz saw through her plan and that he joined the play to make her understand that he knows about all of it, and that any lack of effort will be punishable by a fate worse than death Also she believed that he also joined the Play to make Albedo harsher on her (because her master and the man she loves saw so much potential within Renner to the point where he was willing to humiliate himself and act like the Jester/Clown) Renner now considers Ainz to be the scariest entity in Nazerick,a being who prefers to use his intellect and cunning over simply using his overwhelming power,she believes that her only hope is to truly prove her usefulness to such a supreme being to achieve her dream So she'll instead try to give her all to Nazerick from the start While our Boy Ainz was actually very scared of Renner for obvious reasons (a being with a similar level of intellect to Albedo, Demiurge and Pandora's actor A being who isn't naturally loyal to him) If anyone will ever find out that he's only smart at PVP strategies and Basic business,it would be her So he hopes to stay away as far as possible from her Poor Philip will suffer through Albedo's torture experiments Also in LN he actually tried to punch albedo in the face but Broke his hand instead ( he shouldn't have tried to punch the tankiest close Quarters combat Specialist in Nazerick,Even our boy Demiurge felt pain when he tried to punch Albedo's abs) I will be happily Waiting for the Holy kingdom Movie ( Currently the most fucked up and longest arc in overlord) Can't wait to see the Demon emperor Jaldabaoth's Armies visiting the holy Kingdom, maybe he'll even get a holy weapon
yeah it was disappointing, we didn't get to see millions of people crying as they get crush by destroyed building in their homes, people running out of their house getting gnarl by demon dogs.
I was most impressed by the sound direction on this particular episode. It really managed to give the feel of people treading over familiar grounds that were now strangely alien. Everything felt empty and that emptiness had a strange distant sense of horror to it. Even having read the lite novel, the sound direction for this episode just gave it a whole new feel that still managed to blow me away even knowing the events as they were going to happen. I also want to say I'm impressed with it given I have some real crisis situation experiences, and that sense of familiar wrogness managed to capture a very relatable feeling that echoed the way war and horrific situations actually feel in real life. My own difficult experiences are far enough behind me that I can just appreciate the episode for what it is, but if my experiences were a little more fresh then this episode would be triggering painful flash-backs for me.
This season was everything I hoped it would be and tied up most loose ends quite tidily. I was happy with how the characters where handled, and glad to see Phillip finally get his, though I am actually rather shocked that someone for the Kingdom didn't just outright kill him before the forces of Nazarick invaded. Now I'll have to re-watch the whole series to tide me over until whenever the movie comes out!
Princess Renner is literally a Disney Princess. Wish granted by a supernatural being after proving herself for literally a long period of hard work and loyalty? ✅ Power of obsession (please read this as love) prevails? ✅ Being with her loved one forever and ever? ✅ Music and dance sequence? ✅ This is the Disney Princess every yandere out there will identify with. As a fan of crazy b*tches, her story is literally why I put him on the same pedestal as Satou from Happy Sugar Life. P.S. I am really happy Philip got what he deserve.
I know it's a fuck up song with those lyrics but damn the animation and Renner's looks was just astonishing in that scene. Ainz literally told Climb he was not the main character xD. Anyone else thought up Charles from Code Geass and Johan from Monster with Ainz speech about equality and death? It was epic.
interesting enough. it feels like Climb had a hero's journey. he was a nobody, became somebody thanks of Renner, improved his skills through several advisors and adventures, confronted the evil lord and the end of his journey is to be forever with his beloved princess. since we saw him for the first time, he was the typical hero. and, if we don't take into account the fact that he loses against the evil lord and is reincarnated to be a puppy of a twisted disney princess, he is a hero until the very end. he even gets to see his mentor die and inherits, from him, the sword he uses on the final battle against the evil lord. we all know this disney tale is a bit twisted since the main character is the evil lord and the princess is even darker but, other than that, Climb is the hero and get's the hero's reward. marry the princess and be happy forever, probably, in a literal sense.

This could be the best episode of the show. This season was amazing and knowing that a movie is coming I'm so happy. Renner is crazy, but clearly perfect for Nazarick
At the time of ending it was written 'The End Begins " it i think symbolises that s5 will cover the final part of overlord or a hint that Nazarick will fall.
Mare's little pep talk at the beginning of the episode was bizarrely cute. I wish we could have seen him actually destroy some of the city though. This was a great way to wrap up season 4. I can't wait for the movie. 👍🏾💀

The end of Overlord season 4 has made me very hyped for the end of the story and the movie 🔥 The Princess Renner is definitely one of my favourite characters in this show. She's crazy as hell and darker than black 🖤 As for my opinion about this season Overlord, I really liked it !
Another small detail. At the end credits with Ainz on the throne of rubble you can see some of the royal items parked up on top. Looks like the location of them got leaked (by Renner no doubt). It was unclear in the LN if Ainz retrieved those items but it looks like the Anime cleared that up a bit. :D
When Renner thanked Albedo. "Thank you for providing the poison for the food" if that still went over your head. When was the last time Renner provided "Food"? The orphanage! She needed to do it to lower her karma down since it was a requisite to have low karma to turn into a demon. So you bet Climb will do something similar too!
The final episode felt to me so deflating in a good way. We knew Ainz was going to win. No doubt. But I expected a blood bath. The Guardians relishing in the destruction of innocent human lives. The usual cathartic violence of overlord. But instead, this felt more like a duty. Everyone just "did what they had to do". And seeing Climb getting so close to killing Ainz and knowing this was all just a farce...it made me feel so defeated. And I think the last scene with Ainz showed what I mean. Ainz isn't happy or sad. Elated or tense. This was just business. Did it benefit Nazarick? Good. Glad to have it gotten over with. I find him sitting on a throne made of rubble so remarkably fitting for such a sad ending. Because this is what Overlord is. Up until this point, it was a "Generic evil overlord story in a fantasy setting but told from the villain's POV". I think this and the lizardmen are the only times the perspectives flip and I love it!
Huh... i'd like to think that the moment Renner rescued Climb (with his puppy eyes glued to her), is the moment that Renner wanted Climb and was already planning to sell out EVERYTHING for her goal 😭
I'm just hoping they will release a full version of renners song. Cause that was pretty chilling and fire. But generally I liked this season a whole lot. A bit too talkative early on for me, but some of the action scenes and some moments redeemed that for me.

Overlord has been one of my favorite anime to date. And I started with the original Gundam and Tekkaman Blade etc back in the day. I love the perspective of it. The story telling (especially in the light novels) is excellent. But yea. That should sum up my thoughts for this episode
Renner is definitely the most twisted individual in the New World. The NPCs are twisted but they were designed to be that way, while Renner is just a monster naturally. All things considered though in a world where most people are going to be killed or worse (like tortured alive), Renner took her opportunity and ran with it. Overlord is not a happy world. Renner took the path to her own happiness and worked for it. She earned it. So now she has an eternity of doing fun times with her pet. Nobody in this series is a happier person than Renner. She won.
Princess renner can be in a Disney movie with that singing performance and the camera went around like that. If you mess with ainz, they will ainz ooal gone
Just watched, that was fkin awesome. Ainz got to play into his RP villain role, Renner going full anti-Disney princess(with a musical? what the hell), just lovely.
Philip, I said you have no idea how much you fucked up, well we now don't know what kind of unspeakable horrors Albedo will submit to you. Hoo boy, when even Philip's dad just asked Albedo to make sure he suffers greatly for dooming the Kingdom and its people before he too died just makes me feel that sometimes history hinges on the actions of the dumbest mofos when it really shouldn't.
A lot of people are talking Renner, but honestly, I loved the scene where she sang and the animation of the dance. Why? Because it gave me the same shivers of when I heard "Come Sweet Death" End of Evangelion. And in a good way.

No other Nazarick denizens would betray their family and kingdom to accomplish their goals, but Renner GLEEFULLY created the plan to put an entire kingdom and all of its people to the sword in exchange for eternal youth (and an eternally youthful, entirely subservient lover). The denizens of Nazarick are working towards a common cause. Princess Renner is just selfish.

Climb is lowkey the luckiest guy in the entire Re-Estize Kingdom. Renner's psychotic yandere tendancies are the only reason this man lived where others did not. She was so obsessed over being with him that she sold out everyone to make that happen. So when I say lucky, I mean it in the sense that his survival was assured whereas everyone else's was forfeit, even if he'll never know that.
Renner was amazing. And I couldn't help but chuckle at Mare at the start. Like dude, you're probably the second most powerful floor guardian. No need to doubt yourself like that.
Hanzos cheering on Mare was cute as hell. Also: I don't know if this was intentional or not, but you can see that after Demiurge give his order, Climb prostrates himself because of it - Renner *doesn't.* It's around 8:07 mark. The last scene, with Ainz sitting on his throne of rubble? The scepter and the crown are above his head, meaning that even hiding the kingdoms treasures was orchestrated by SK. While not everything went according to the plan, Ainz&co made absolute best of the situation and played the entire Re-estize like a damn fiddle. The brute strength of the SK is a sight to behold, but what's truly frightening is the scale of their clandestine operations. And we'll see more of that in the movie. Which I'm looking forward to, since we'll see best waifu Calca and that absolutely nothing bad happens to her... 😭 And Neia. Neia is a good girl.
What Happen to Philip. Was Albedo had a Garden filled with Corpses. Just picture the scene of 300 where they gather all around the tree filled with bodies but a forest with some of them still alive with agony

They rushed through a bunch of scenes I wish they had taken their time with but otherwise it was a good season. In the LN, Albedo forces Philip outside where she shows him all the servants and villagers impaled on spikes and reveal that she's taking him to the torturer to be used to test experimental torture techniques. Wish they had done more of that. They could've cut out some of those flashback scenes to make room for it. But the creepy song and dance by the Princess was awesome.
I already considered Renner crazy but this is just too fucking much,absolutely love her character and this season as a whole was amazing. Renner has definitely shot up to the top of one of the most well established characters in a show and one of my favorites!

Renner is the biggest yandere i have ever seen, even in animes dedicated to yanderes. she literally sold EVERYTHING she owned just to live for eternity with Climb. And she said she just merely only needed to sell off her kingdom, meaning if she had more she would've gave it away no hesitation, that is just mind blowing honestly. Pure dedication but also patience, she is top yandere in my book that's for sure. Showing how far she is willing to go to get what she wants. Can't wait to see the movie when it comes out and I bet season 5 will happen
Overlord is a money maker season 5 100% will happen just a matter if they make season 5 a couple LN volumes and also do a season 6 or if they take 4 novels for one last season. Author said vol 18 will be the last and 17-18 will be longer than normal so there is potential for 2 more seasons but most likely it'll be season 5 and then we're done imo

Since there are many plot threads that need to be wraped up. Would not be surprised if he decides to write a sequel or prequel after he finishes the curent books
@actionvids35 I read the reason the novels are ending was because he started getting burnt out on Overlord so I suspect he will pull an Isayama and do something completely different whether that's open a spa like isyama or a completely different kind of story to regroup after the long time writing of the Overlord story

He expected to finish this by volume 18 (I think it used to be 16). However, every time he writes one volume after volume 11 it ends up being around 2 volumes instead.
Volumes 12-13 where supposed to be one volume. Volumes 15-16 were also supposed to be one volume.
By this metric, volume 18 will become volume 18-19 and this will end by volume 20 or something. No wonder he is a bit burned out.

This episode and this entire season really has felt pretty different. I’m not sure why but I’ve felt more engaged with the lore and the world than I ever did with seasons past. Maybe it’s because this has felt like an “earned” ending. As shown in the flashbacks during Renner’s honestly brilliant song and dance number, it felt as though we’ve always been building to this in the background and to see it come to fruition, just feels satisfying.
that's probably what it is, even though for a while we've known she had been pulling the strings behind all the other royals the flashback really ties together what has made this season and the ones prior so good is how well thought out it truly was for so long.

Yes she’s a monster, a manipulator and we’ve seen how far she’ll go to get what she wants but I just find it impressive. I think because we’ve known her true nature for a while, I can set that aside and just look at her feats. She is insanely smart, enough to impress Albedo and Demiurge, which by all rights should be impossible for a human. And as Albedo said herself, they used like 90% of Renners plans to take down the kingdom, which is crazy. In the end, while I feel for climb, I kind of respected her for working so hard towards Her happy ending

@@starlad2703 Well she is an impressive character and one done extremely well and should be taken as one of the examples for a great female character. Taking that aside if you combine the things from the novels it was not that surprising, since she was an incredible genius born into a royal family and part of the struggle for power since childhood. Adding to her being an underdog, most likely faced with all kind of scorn, fear, loathing and jealousy not to mention because she is female and because of that the least likely to inherit the throne and most likely to be sold off as a bride to some noble or other countries royals. It makes her twisted and evil character feel natural and logical... Climb was her everything and she sacrificed everything and everyone to stay with him for all eternity. And in Climbs case he always did say that everything he does is to repay her kindness to him and also his love for her so while bittersweet it's still something he wished for, so he might have some struggles but unless his character completely changes he will be loyal to Renner even if he realizes her true self.
Did not expect that song in the end but it fits her character. That shot of Ainz siting at remains of the kingdom was badass.

I love the Mare scenes! Telling Climb to run because he was going to destroy that place first was adorable lol. And man, the budget really went into Renner's singing. It's funny because people were asking what the point was of turning her into a demon because "she already was one" and the best response was "now her looks match her personality".
That Albedo scene at the end was freaking perfect.
Also man, the king got the rawest of deals throughout the entire series.
The king was an ineffective, oblivious fool; a puppet sitting on a throne of corruption and suffering, propped up by nobles who exploited the citizens of the nation in the worst possible way. Ultimately, he was brought down by one of those idiot nobles that he either could not or would not rein in.
The fact that his downfall came at the hands of his own evil daughter is very fitting; he couldn't even see the darkness that had crept into his own family.
He got what he deserved. It's the citizens who deserves better, since they had no say in his rule.
idk man. the king was benevolent and just but that was about it. in any other story a king like that would get a happy ending but he was more concerned with being a good man than a good leader and it cost him literally everything.
The funny thing is that Mare wasn't supposed to run into Climb at all. He was just indecisive in how to destroy the warehouse section (were Climb was) and he just casually saw Climb and panicked that he would have probably killed him if he had just started blasting earlier. That's why he was looking so relieved when Climb ran away.

Two great scenes in this episode. 1) the Disney like the song that Renner spontaneously sings; and 2) Ainz's speech, where life is unfair and I am the death. Gotta rewatch that.
I was laughing 🤣🤣so hard when Ainz decided to role play as the evil demon lord to Climb. Perfect scene it was so self aware.
It was something Ainz just wanted to do just "for him" but it actually carried more weight for Albedo, Demiurge and Renner and he just doesn't even know that (as usual).

@@supmugi9 For Albedo and Demiurge demonstrated that Ainz is willing to grace Renner with her presence and by extension, declare that "Renner is a valuable asset to Nazarik and I'm willing to accept doing something below me to get her on our ranks". And by doing the whole "Hero against the Demon Lord" schtick, made sure that Climb thought that EVERYTHING that happened was just Ainz's whole scheme and painted Renner as the "poor" victim of circumstances, cementing her everlasting loyalty to her.
The Hanzos silently cheering with Mare made this my new favorite episode of the show.
They didn't show Mare levelling everything, pumping himself up with little peptalks while turning the city into a blender and turning everyone into juice. They also didn't show Albedo planting forests of villagers. Still it was amazing.

Also It's hard to say when the light novel will end Maruyama been saying he wants to end the novel for years... but just can't seem to do so.. For example in end Voulme 14 he says just 3 more volumes and now he says just 2 more volumes...
Although volumes 15/16 can be thought of as one long volume broken up into 2 pieces... ( I also feel they are the weakest in the series and not strong enough to stand as complete volumes... unlike the holy kingdom and man in the kingdom arc... as nothing really happens til the last chapters of each..volumes..)
The most fascinating to me is Renner being a Disney Princess, and the plan was shown while she does the singing. Making everything is connected, as Albedo said how 90% was Renner's plan.

I notice the moment the king offers his daughter hands to Climb, Renner was surprised, you can see it in her eyes. For a moment, she actually fears that might be a convincing offer that will derail her planned stage play to turn evil
Just finished the watching this episode, felt very satisfying end for the season and this plot. Loved how the king tried to order Climb to take the princess away but she said that he was hers and won't listen to the king. Wonder if she actually going to have the patience to "share" her first time with Climb. In a twisted but well deserving way, both got the loves of their lives for eternity.

She believes that Ainz saw through her plan and that he joined the play to make her understand that he knows about all of it, and that any lack of effort will be punishable by a fate worse than death
Also she believed that he also joined the Play to make Albedo harsher on her (because her master and the man she loves saw so much potential within Renner to the point where he was willing to humiliate himself and act like the Jester/Clown)
Renner now considers Ainz to be the scariest entity in Nazerick,a being who prefers to use his intellect and cunning over simply using his overwhelming power,she believes that her only hope is to truly prove her usefulness to such a supreme being to achieve her dream
So she'll instead try to give her all to Nazerick from the start

It's kinda shame that we didn't see Mare destroy the city
yeah it was disappointing, we didn't get to see millions of people crying as they get crush by destroyed building in their homes, people running out of their house getting gnarl by demon dogs.
I was most impressed by the sound direction on this particular episode. It really managed to give the feel of people treading over familiar grounds that were now strangely alien. Everything felt empty and that emptiness had a strange distant sense of horror to it.
Even having read the lite novel, the sound direction for this episode just gave it a whole new feel that still managed to blow me away even knowing the events as they were going to happen.
I also want to say I'm impressed with it given I have some real crisis situation experiences, and that sense of familiar wrogness managed to capture a very relatable feeling that echoed the way war and horrific situations actually feel in real life. My own difficult experiences are far enough behind me that I can just appreciate the episode for what it is, but if my experiences were a little more fresh then this episode would be triggering painful flash-backs for me.
renner singing was such a nice addition, one of my favorite scenes in this show
This season was everything I hoped it would be and tied up most loose ends quite tidily. I was happy with how the characters where handled, and glad to see Phillip finally get his, though I am actually rather shocked that someone for the Kingdom didn't just outright kill him before the forces of Nazarick invaded. Now I'll have to re-watch the whole series to tide me over until whenever the movie comes out!

interesting enough. it feels like Climb had a hero's journey. he was a nobody, became somebody thanks of Renner, improved his skills through several advisors and adventures, confronted the evil lord and the end of his journey is to be forever with his beloved princess.
since we saw him for the first time, he was the typical hero. and, if we don't take into account the fact that he loses against the evil lord and is reincarnated to be a puppy of a twisted disney princess, he is a hero until the very end. he even gets to see his mentor die and inherits, from him, the sword he uses on the final battle against the evil lord.
we all know this disney tale is a bit twisted since the main character is the evil lord and the princess is even darker but, other than that, Climb is the hero and get's the hero's reward. marry the princess and be happy forever, probably, in a literal sense.

The season overall felt a bit rushed to me, but I still found it very satisfying. That ending song though...that was an awesome end.

Another small detail. At the end credits with Ainz on the throne of rubble you can see some of the royal items parked up on top. Looks like the location of them got leaked (by Renner no doubt). It was unclear in the LN if Ainz retrieved those items but it looks like the Anime cleared that up a bit. :D

I love it how Climb was the representation of the overused protagonist and got stomped by the actual protagonist.
When Renner thanked Albedo. "Thank you for providing the poison for the food" if that still went over your head. When was the last time Renner provided "Food"? The orphanage!
She needed to do it to lower her karma down since it was a requisite to have low karma to turn into a demon. So you bet Climb will do something similar too!

The final episode felt to me so deflating in a good way. We knew Ainz was going to win. No doubt. But I expected a blood bath. The Guardians relishing in the destruction of innocent human lives. The usual cathartic violence of overlord. But instead, this felt more like a duty. Everyone just "did what they had to do". And seeing Climb getting so close to killing Ainz and knowing this was all just a farce...it made me feel so defeated. And I think the last scene with Ainz showed what I mean. Ainz isn't happy or sad. Elated or tense. This was just business. Did it benefit Nazarick? Good. Glad to have it gotten over with. I find him sitting on a throne made of rubble so remarkably fitting for such a sad ending. Because this is what Overlord is. Up until this point, it was a "Generic evil overlord story in a fantasy setting but told from the villain's POV". I think this and the lizardmen are the only times the perspectives flip and I love it!

I'm just hoping they will release a full version of renners song. Cause that was pretty chilling and fire. But generally I liked this season a whole lot. A bit too talkative early on for me, but some of the action scenes and some moments redeemed that for me.

Overlord has been one of my favorite anime to date. And I started with the original Gundam and Tekkaman Blade etc back in the day. I love the perspective of it. The story telling (especially in the light novels) is excellent. But yea. That should sum up my thoughts for this episode
Renner is definitely the most twisted individual in the New World. The NPCs are twisted but they were designed to be that way, while Renner is just a monster naturally.
All things considered though in a world where most people are going to be killed or worse (like tortured alive), Renner took her opportunity and ran with it. Overlord is not a happy world. Renner took the path to her own happiness and worked for it. She earned it. So now she has an eternity of doing fun times with her pet. Nobody in this series is a happier person than Renner. She won.

A lot of people are talking Renner, but honestly, I loved the scene where she sang and the animation of the dance.

Because it gave me the same shivers of when I heard "Come Sweet Death" End of Evangelion. And in a good way.

No other Nazarick denizens would betray their family and kingdom to accomplish their goals, but Renner GLEEFULLY created the plan to put an entire kingdom and all of its people to the sword in exchange for eternal youth (and an eternally youthful, entirely subservient lover).
The denizens of Nazarick are working towards a common cause. Princess Renner is just selfish.

Climb is lowkey the luckiest guy in the entire Re-Estize Kingdom. Renner's psychotic yandere tendancies are the only reason this man lived where others did not. She was so obsessed over being with him that she sold out everyone to make that happen.
So when I say lucky, I mean it in the sense that his survival was assured whereas everyone else's was forfeit, even if he'll never know that.

Renner was amazing. And I couldn't help but chuckle at Mare at the start. Like dude, you're probably the second most powerful floor guardian. No need to doubt yourself like that.
Hanzos cheering on Mare was cute as hell. Also: I don't know if this was intentional or not, but you can see that after Demiurge give his order, Climb prostrates himself because of it - Renner *doesn't.* It's around 8:07 mark. The last scene, with Ainz sitting on his throne of rubble? The scepter and the crown are above his head, meaning that even hiding the kingdoms treasures was orchestrated by SK. While not everything went according to the plan, Ainz&co made absolute best of the situation and played the entire Re-estize like a damn fiddle.
The brute strength of the SK is a sight to behold, but what's truly frightening is the scale of their clandestine operations. And we'll see more of that in the movie. Which I'm looking forward to, since we'll see best waifu Calca and that absolutely nothing bad happens to her... 😭 And Neia. Neia is a good girl.
At this point nothing will surprise me except for Philip somehow cheating death while screwing over everyone else.

But we got a season 4 of Ple Ple Pleiades along side this season.
They rushed through a bunch of scenes I wish they had taken their time with but otherwise it was a good season. In the LN, Albedo forces Philip outside where she shows him all the servants and villagers impaled on spikes and reveal that she's taking him to the torturer to be used to test experimental torture techniques. Wish they had done more of that. They could've cut out some of those flashback scenes to make room for it. But the creepy song and dance by the Princess was awesome.
It was a beautiful ending of season 4 wow 🤩🔥👏👏
I already considered Renner crazy but this is just too fucking much,absolutely love her character and this season as a whole was amazing.
Renner has definitely shot up to the top of one of the most well established characters in a show and one of my favorites!
