Thanks myiazaki
@Lorenzo I think it's called the Blasphemous Blade for exactly that reason. Rykard is being blasphemous while using it because it is Holy and he is not. Or maybe the blade is being Blasphemous for allowing him to use it.
we really need a Demon’s Scar equivalent. So weird that all the Dark Souls 2 DNA that was spliced into this game; only to forget/omit catalyst weapons, arguably the coolest thing introduced fir spellswords/paladins builds.
@@michalnowacki1489 Honestly was surprised they animated Loretta's Sickle used to cast; the White Robe Sorcerers using their sword to cast multiple spells, and then just give them both generic ashes of war. Honestly; ashes of war are a whole other can of worms (from availability, to some literally being worse or better versions of each other), but the weapons that looked like they would be used for casting should've just got a "cast sorcery" or "cast incantation" ash of war.
@@en20drayt87 Honestly; the magma blade was something I wanted to like, but kinda just found underwhelming. Between its rarity, and its only ok ash of war; I just feel like it was not worth the effort I put in to get it. At least with the Demon's Scar; having access to a whole list of Pyromancies to cast with it was always going to make it more interesting. Even if you had to literally wait til the end of the freaking game to get it.
Magma Blade is the weapon equivalent although I do agree that is a downgrade to not have weapon catalysts and trick weapons in this game. Hopefully DLC provides.
If you don't have the Blasphemous Blade, the Gragoyle's Blackblade is a decent substitute. The ash of war is similar except it has shorter reach and deals holy instead of fire damage. The ash of war also has some extra ticking damage afterwards similar to how Black Flame has.
Erdsteel dagger is quite fun to use with a basically pure faith build + parries. Add 2 dex with prophet class then stack faith. Faith buffs physical and holy(or fire). Starts out weak but gets really strong with backstabs/ripostes + black flame incantations for ranged. Powerful hybrid caster/backstabbing type, with a weight load for good armor. DW with black knife for more shenanigans, since they share similar stat requirements.
I think basic infusible weapons that have notable good faith scaling should've been included. I like Iron Greatsword and Curved Great Club as great examples which do really good in their weapon class with Flame Art or Sacred infusion. Also I greatly prefer Blade of Gold dagger over the black knife one especially since you can drink the holy physick to boost it. It hits like a truck and has a knock back effect. People also are less sure of it due to the different animation (even though the timing is the same). Every. Single. Faith. User. Should. Equip. Cipher. Pata. It weighs literally nothing and is one of the best shield counter and mixup weapons around. If you see someone relying heavy on melee attacks in pvp just swap to Cipher Pata and space it so you're just outside an attack, and when they whiff that's your queue to do the Pata charge art. Then do it a second time for a highly probable second hit and if you hit two that's very likely to be well above 1000 damage. It even has a very good lunging running attack . Great move.
Inseprable sword adds flat 80 holy dmg to an atta k which is very imo. Its range is also a nice niche. Fantastic at heal interruptions and punishes for pvp
It can be pretty good in PVP as well, find a particular move that your enemy likes to do, and use your AoW to trade into it. I've killed countless RoB spammers like this.
my first playthrough of ER I was going to be a faith spellcaster, but then I found Blasphemous Blade and realized its ash of war is better than most of them so I just used that. Also briefly experimented with Coded Sword powerstanced with Golden Epitaph but it did not compete
Maybe somebody can help me out here. The blade of death reduces maximum HP for a short time. This doesn't matter in duels because you're not supposed to heal. It doesn't matter against bosses, because they don't heal (except for that one that we will not name here). I'm not sure of this point, but it seems if you have a lower Max HP, then procs like bleed are going to do less damage because they're percentage-based. So what is the benefit to reducing someone's maximum HP, especially if it's only over a limited amount of time. (I love the damage over time effect that the black blade gives, but that's not what I'm talking about.)
omenkiller youwy. seems i've been sleeping on the winged scythe. is it's moveset good one-handed (with seal or shield in the other), or is there no point to using it without two hands?
How does the Cipher Pata compare to the coded sword? It weighs nothing and needs 30 faith so I'm planning on using it since you can get it at the start of the game.
@@davidfrancisco3502 I was more thinking about dps and range. I know that the Cipher's ash of war used to miss a lot and I heard they fixed it, and claw weapons like the cipher swing much faster so I was wondering how they compared.
Cipher will probably do more DPS because it's dual wielded and very fast, but the range is pretty limited, and two Coded Swords in NG+ are going to outclass Cipher Pata by quite a bit. In addition, the scaling of both is ideal for very high Faith stats, most often for builds invested heavily in casting, and a dual wield close range fist weapon will not be ideal for that type of build. Both are very cool weapons, but Coded Sword is superior of those two.
Since the Pata Weighs nothing, you could always carry a Coded Sword and swap to the Pata when the faster move-set or Ash of War are more desirable. Without carrying another Faith-scaling sword or getting a buddy to drop another Coded Sword for you, you'll be missing out on the ability to dual wield. Two-handing the Pata could be a nice substitute until you get your second sword. That said, I'd say the Dual Straight Sword move-set is generally superior to either of the Pata's move-sets, but the Pata's faster, forward lunging AoW is typically better against most bosses, enemy players, & lone enemies. On my Faith build, I've got the endurance to keep a Flame-Art Godskin Stitcher and Pata in my main hand slots, while carrying a seal and a single extra tool I swap around a lot, like a crossbow, shield, whip, or other light-weight item like a torch in my off-hand slots to give myself as many options as possible during PvE & PvP alike.
Incorrect. The inseparable Sword has an effect of dealing extra damage to the undead and killing them permanently even if the buff isn't active. Not something you get infusing other greatswords.
It has a B in STR and D in Faith. It's mostly a STR weapon. However, you could put a strong weapon buff on it with a decent Faith stat. I don't think it's going to be in the top 10, though. If Maliketh's Black Blade, Inquisitor's Girandole, Sacred Relic Sword, Golden Halberd, Giant's Red Braid, Magma Blade, Tree Spear, and Inseparable Sword didn't make it, I don't see the Troll's Hammer making it in over all of those.
It's actually pretty terrible, no reach and fire split damage which is the worst. All you have to do is equip a focus boosting talisman and you'll beat any chump using it.
It really is. If you really want to annoy people use elden stars as soon as you’re in distance to lock on and run up to them and use it’s AOW. That alone procs a lot of madness and 1-2 hits later they’re done. I usually switch between a seal and fingerprint shield in my left hand if need be but I usually end pvp fights super fast with the spear alone.
hey HEY! The inseparable sword has better swagger than the banished sword. Its a much better weapon ok? The banished knight sword looks both fatherless and homeless.
I'm a fan of the Inseparable Sword, but the best is definitely the weapon chosen #1 on this list. Just about everyone knows what that would be before watching the video. It's not even close.
The vykes scales much better with dex and I would not consider it a faith weapon for PvP purposes. The coded sword is the best pure faith/ss for PvP. Should've been 1 since I think it's the best overall, since Blasphemous blade is subpar for PvP.
