When the locations you can be in are strictly tied to the quests, it helps to get into the story a lot more. It's more atmospheric, it creates a sense of travel, adventure, progress. When I first managed to get into Vyzima, after running under its walls for days of real time, it's the kind of emotion you never get in a game where you can run anywhere almost from the start. A side quest feels so much more meaningful when you've spent a few days in this village and completed 10 other quests and met half of its population and learned a lot about their lives than when this village is one of 20 on your map and you only came here for a quest and will never come back here again. Of course the third part has more content, it's bigger and more expensive, better made technically. But precisely because of its scale, it doesn't have the soulfulness that the first part had, and it doesn't resonate emotionally with me.

After all these years Witcher 1 has a unique vibe and maybe the best story. Chasing Salamandra and Azar Javed, Professor as well. Soundtrack was top notch. And every area had it's own art style. I love it more then W2 and 3

honestly i actually genuinely liked witcher 1. I know the graphics are weird but it was interesting and it had a good storyline. There are a few things I liked about Witcher 1 that I couldn’t get in the other games. IMO Witcher 2 was the weakest, it was a very quick game with a pretty uninteresting plot and not much that made it unique. Except for the hot woman who could turn into a dragon. She was fantastic.

The side quests were excellently written, and the illusion of choice was really strong, with consequences that literally locked entire quest lines. Sure it was a quick game, but the replay value is still there, especially with the various difficulty options.

The exponential growth they've had from 1 to 2 and from 2 to 3 was just astonishing, though. From one of the worst videogames ever to possibly the absolute best rpg out there, in less than 10 years. Gotta admire that.
The Czech voice acting has a different problem: the lines sound as if the actors didn't know what they were reacting to. Sometimes the tones of the voices sound so out of place it's hilarious.
I know that they recorded several versions of replies. This is great. But here I could not hear that (maybe because of many words between them?..) I'm not a native speaker. In fact, I largely improved my English listening while playing the Witcher! From the 1st to the 3rd part, and then Witcher 1 Adventures, Thronebreaker, etc.
They didn't care at all about voice acting for european rpg's in the early 2000's. It was the same with gothic, english voice acting was horrendous, while the german and polish voice acting in these games are a major reason why they're cult classics
About WITCHER 1 EE I explored that entire game and tried few essential mods to boost up graphics, etc. NPC had full day routines, secret caves, endless looting and monster paternal behaviors wow they really thought forward This game series they began to develop to W3 became second only to RDR2 CDPR - THEY WERE TRULY UNIQUE AND EXCEPTIONALLY GREAT AT WITCHER Small But Great Army of Developers and writers they had with proper directors Bravo CDPR I hope they do even way way better for Upcoming next Witcher (Witcher 4 or Ciri's story) project (I can't believe CDPR's second team made something called Cyberjunk 2077 and the entire thing was shit, still it is yet Keeps getting better with hiring the modders and patches very very slowly developing)
