I’ve had mine since November 2021 and this is my first Apple product. Everything is so seamless, but what I learnt to appreciate the most is the reliability I get when working across all apps in the system. From jumping from Netflix while I edit photos, to having TH-cam vids running in the background while I edit 4K footage on DaVinci resolve or Final Cut. It’s astonishing how much this laptop can handle. I’ve gotten to the point where I stopped caring what OS I use, both for computers and phones. Now I’m just using Apple devices all across the board just because it complements the creative workflow in my case. Of course when it comes to customization, I’m always trying to push the edge and get the most out of widgets on Apple (coming from fully decked out nova launcher setups on android and rainmeter setups on windows). I do wish there was a bit more personalization with Apple devices, but again, absolute powerhouse of a tool
@@necipdemirbuga7024 I’ve been able to run things just fine with 16gb of ram. But 32 might be necessary if you plan to do a lot of motion graphics and animation
I am kind of on the fence here too. I am a software developer and you can ask anyone that it is a headache to not work with Unix (meaning working on windows). Problem with working in Linux only is that some crucial windows apps can't be run. Problem with virtualization is that you lose some performance when virtualizing Linux on windows using WSL2 but I have managed to do that with GWSL and it seems to be kind of working.
I have the M1 Max 14”. It’s easily the best laptop I’ve ever owned. I won’t even consider the M2 Air or even the M2 Pro when it comes out. This machine is absolutely perfect. Edit: I just wish it came in gold.
I have both and use the M2 Air a lot more after the hype has worn off. Its form factory and battery life for everyday have me reaching for it a lot more. The 14" just lives in my office now at this point. The M2 Air still runs everything I throw at it including running Portal 2 and Civilization V using Crossover. I got a good deal on a 10c 16GB 512GB model on their refurbished store and absolutely love it.

I sold my M1 Pro 14 inch and got M2 air 16gb/1Tb and I'm so happy I've done it even though I wasn't sure it was the right move at first. The battery life feels like it's about 50% longer, the size and weight is so amazing and it looks awesome. I feel no difference in power it literally does everything, and in some cases it's even faster.

I recently retired my 11 year old Windows computer and got this Mac for $1,599, a steal. Couldn’t be happier. Anyone needing a laptop now should not wait for a significantly more expensive M2 whenever it releases and grab an M1 Pro now while these deals last. Don’t even consider an Air. The ports, the power (basically silent), the awesome speakers, and the incredible display are more than worth a marginally heavier (but also sturdier) machine. thank you so much ! I was having cold feet about this one and was confused which one to buy but this comment really addresses all my concerns and puts it to rest. Can't thank you enough !
I have the 16 M1 Pro and I honestly love it so much! I like having a bigger display, yes it's heavier but I am not usually carrying it around that much... anymore. I was going to class with it and it could be a pain to carry it in my bag on my back. The display and typing experience has been the best and I have had a bunch of different macs. I had a 2010 MBP which served me well for many years then had a 2016 Macbook (truly the worst mac I ever had) then had a 2018 mbp with butterfly keys and touch bar so this has been the best mac I have ever owned.
Even if it's expensive I think it's worth it. Now, I convinced my employer to get a 32gb/1TB for me but compared to how slow my previous work computer (Macbook Pro 2015), the time I have saved the last year have made this "investment" already worth it. What I like the most: + Handles heavy multitasking (10+ VM, Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Axure, Safar/Chrome with 50+ tabs) like a breeze + Connectivity - Just the fact that I can connect it to my two 4k displays at home makes it awesome + Silent - I have rarely noticed the fans while my colleague's PC sounds like vacuum cleaners all day in the office + Portability - This is my desktop and laptop in one machine and I can throw it into my backpack anytime and work from anywhere
I've just bought this Mac and I will say I have to agree with you. Although I havent even tried pushing it yet, just from set up I can tell this is an incredible piece of technology. Massive step up from the M1 Macbook Pro

Now I could say that the M1 is the best thing I could ever invest in and the amount of power it can deliver it’s just embarrassing.
Finally bit the bullet and upgraded from my 2015 Macbook Pro. This years black friday deal at Best Buy offered $400 off of regular msrp and on top of that I had an offer with Amex that allowed me to double my points with every dollar spent. In total with both promotions I was able to save roughly $500 off of regular msrp for the 14” MacBook Pro. Stoked to have it come in!

@@vegawrld5791 Not too sure if they’d have a bigger sale or not for Cyber Monday. I was also debating on holding off but decided to bite the bullet either way. Worse case scenario they could just offer the same deal if they don’t have a better one in my opinion.
I did the same thing but with a 2016 version, I saw the best buy black friday deals and I was able to save 500$ with a 16 inch 1TB macbook pro! I'm very excited for it to come in the mail later this week.
Same deal I got on a 1TB totally unbinned 14 inch at B & H Photo, and they gave me their credit card, to pay for it. Also, no tax. Sweet deal! I chose the silver, as it just looks cooler, to me. This thing is awesome. I have yet to hear the fans, and the battery lasts very well.

I'm considering buying a base 14 M1 Pro this week, and the reviews are kind of interesting. Some people say it's not as "resilient" as Apple claims, and others claim it's beyond expectations. For me, it'll primarily be a portable development machine, and from this point of view, it seems to be very positively covered. Any thoughts?
This model of MacBook is extremely powerful and can handle more than it needs. However, if you’re looking for a portable laptop I recommend getting the MacBook m2 air. Both are amazing in their own ways, but it totally depends on your needs. If you’re willing to spend the extra $500-800 for the m1 pro, then I say go for it. Good luck!
Unless you are a superpower user most people will be fine with the base model I updated mine to have more ram and storage and that's what I would do but M2 is not necessary for most people.
Should I upgrade from Macbook Pro M1 13-inch to 14-inch? I am a full stack web developer and sometimes my swap usage ramps up to 1tb+ per day because of limited 8gigs ram. Even after high swap and ram usage doesn’t cause any lags but still concerned and thinking of upgrade.
I’d say get the M1 let’s be real just like the m2 iPad it was very disappointing to watch them charge an extra 300$ just for 10-20% power which let’s be real which save you like 1-3 minutes? Not even worth it. I bought the M1 14 inch and I have no regrets especially after seeing the m2 iPad which I waited for, for months and I ended up getting the 12.9 inch to have dual setup monitors
I went with m1 pro 14 inch 32 gb ram although not max as the store couldn't offer me it here (we have no official apple store only third party stores) and totally not regretted it at all. I do UX and web development on my study as a multimedia design student and its been great!!! I had my old trusty 2015 macbook pro 13" but my issue was also only having 8 gb of ram, other wise it would have been just fine for this while running teams in the background :') but no... It runs so great mine on 32 gigs, but most around me has the base and they are so happy with it as well, no heat, no swaps so far from what i know. Another reason to go for it would totally also be as what HabashyGaming is saying. Last question would also be - do you need it now? would it it ease your flow if you went and got it now? if yes I would go with 14 and not wait for m2 pro as suggested as for one we also don't know what the production wait for those would be. M1 pros were delayed as well. Many still are in fact. edit: random typo
Depends if you like a bigger screen but realize the 16 is a bit heavier as well. I have the 16 and I love it because I tend to use my MacBook without it hooked up to my monitor more than anything. I carry it with me basically everywhere and yes it's heavier to me it's worth it because of that extra screen you get with it.
I use a 165hz monitor and I really don't notice that difference that much with my air because its not really about the hertz it depends on what people do with their laptops.
Hello Arthur. Nice video . Keep up the good work ! I was curious to know will a 16" screen be worth buying since it is more expensive than the 14" one. I am trying to save money. I plan to do photo editing on the MacBook pro. Thank you 👍
I use the M1 Pro MacBook Pro, man this is really a beast ❤🔥.. But currently after updating to the new macOS Ventura my battery is draining a bit faster than before.. Dis anyone face this issue? Kindly let me know if there is any fix.. Thanks
I have the same thing But for me its a bit worse I have only 5-6 hours And only watching videos or movies With half brightness Not even 4k sometimes And in safari If i do some video editing then its like 2-3 hours Not sure but i feel like apple is trying to kill this thing with updates
@@nickolukac I think they might solve it in the upcoming updates.. Try checking your battery health and the energy usage in Activity monitor. If any app draining more battery kill it.
I love this computer It is totally worth the money, when I bought it I didn't need all the power it offered but I wanted to future proof myself incase I needed it. I don't see a need in purchasing a new laptop for years to come. im not a professional video editor or anything like that where you might need that type of power year to year
I was in the same boat. Have had the base MBP 14 w/M1 Pro for 3 weeks now. Previously I was on the fence because the price difference… but now you can get it for $1599 new… and that made it a no brainer. The only reason to go with the M2 Air is if truly need the smaller form factor over every other aspect.
@@whatgaca It's not worth waiting. The only reason to upgrade would be if you throw 3D stuff all the time, or edit 8K videos consistently. I don't see the MBP 14" getting obsolete in the next 4-5 years, to be honest. Apart from RAM, I don't see anything else that would be insufficient. And if Apple is selling M2s with 8 gigs, I don't really think they will force users with 16 gigs to upgrade soon.
actually most people no need it even for 1600$ I returned it , and got 13 pro base and its more than enough for work. 14 heavy, heat a lot in perfomance, battery life 2-3 hr in performance
In March 2023, I’m looking to upgrade from a base 2017 intel MBP for Premiere Pro editing & this MacBook keeps getting recommended. It’s about £1300 resale in the UK but something like the M2 13” MBP is only £850. I know the 14” is crazy powerful but do I really need it for an extra £500/600$??
is the base model good enough for coding and heavy using, i.e. multiple windows(20+) and apps open at the same time? also is it true, that 1000GB is faster and better than 512 GB?
i'm wholly unimpressed with the battery life on my mac.. i've had it for a little over a year now and i get about 8 hours of battery and experience battery drain even when the mac is sleeping. compare this to my m1 macbook air which could last me 14 hours easy of all day use before needing another charge
I use the base 14 inch MacBook Pro for backend and data development. I really don‘t need more. At the beginning I had doubt regarding the 16MB ram. But this is really enough. I never experienced swap drive. And I use PyCharm, Postman und DataGrip at the same time. No problem. Really a great machine. I wouldn‘t wait for a M2 MacBook Pro.😊
I’m really curious about the base version, does it give the same experience as the upgraded versions give ? And is it still good for the hardcore work flows like editing music production and the rest of the professional stuff ?
I've had mine, 16 inch M1 Pro, and it's the best laptop I've ever had. Even better than my 2015 15 inch retina (dedicated graphics) the I still own. But the M1 Pro it´s just amazing. Five stars,

if you're using those apps, I'm sure that the battery will last much longer. I'm a teacher and I use this on the daily, and throughout the entire 7 hour day my battery will go from 100 to anywhere between 50-70% depending on how hard I push it and what I do. If you're going to be editing videos, or anything intensive your battery will probably max out at 5 hours. Just get the fast charging as well, and that'll help when you're on the go as you can go from 0-50 in 30 minutes as well.
Actually now, while answering your question, I have a rest of 35% battery with an expected duration of 5:32 h at 4.1 Watt. As you I primary using Safari for websurfin, YT, Music, etc. Sometimes DxO Photolab or Parallels with Windows 11 for my Affinity Photo (an older Win license). Very often last loading the battery was two days ago.. Correction: duration went up to 6:16 at still 35% :)
Yeah, I am not even sure I want to ever go back to Intel-based Macs or computers overall. And I'm speaking as a person who was initially against the transition. Nope, it was all a good idea.
I am so confused, bc. on some reviews, even 16 inch mbp m1 with 10c seems to be a total pain in the neck when it comes to blender 3d etc. but here I hear that even 8c cpu is sufficient.. could anyone please explain me how it is in reality?
I love apple products starts giving value to customers, at least for the base model. It is fast, and cheaper than the window laptop with the same specs, at least for the base model. This is great, as tech price should go down over time, not up. And I always hate the extremely high price of apple product, and now, they become good value. What a bold decision to suck you into the ecosystem, with the cheaper baseline device. Firstly, the iPhone SE, then you will jump to newer more expensive phone. Then it is the Mac mini/ Mac book air, Mac book pro 14, etc, etc. Baseline iPad, iPad Air, iPad Pro. Apple earn more by selling more products, while user can enjoy a lower price. It is a win win situation for now. Really hope Apple maintain the affordable choice of products for all the consumers.
Monterey new update and Ventura have now battery drain ( all apps closed, lid close ). Everyone trying to find out what's the cause. Apple remain clueless.
The dust a lot worse because when the laptop is plugged in, you can feel static on any metal part you rub, that static is increased if you have one part of your body touching something metal then the other rubbing the laptop, static pulls in dust therefore dusty macbook :)
laptops should not be used for heavy duty tasks to be honest that job is best on a desktop that also wont thermo over load like the laptops tend to do when doing heavey editing of videos and other tasks thart are best done on a desktop. i do think tho for lite duty editing a laptop is just fine but people want hipower lappys so they can have the best of both in one and it reallt is not the best of both when your laptop overheats alot when doing stuff thats more ment for a desktop system but to each their own

Is it recommendable to buy the Macbook Pro M1 14 or 16 inch today (nov 2022) ?
Depends if you like a bigger screen but realize the 16 is a bit heavier as well. I have the 16 and I love it because I tend to use my MacBook without it hooked up to my monitor more than anything. I carry it with me basically everywhere and yes it's heavier to me it's worth it because of that extra screen you get with it.
I use a 165hz monitor and I really don't notice that difference that much with my air because its not really about the hertz it depends on what people do with their laptops.
It’s not just that, refresh rate changes at times
Hello Arthur. Nice video . Keep up the good work ! I was curious to know will a 16" screen be worth buying since it is more expensive than the 14" one. I am trying to save money. I plan to do photo editing on the MacBook pro. Thank you 👍
I use the M1 Pro MacBook Pro, man this is really a beast ❤🔥.. But currently after updating to the new macOS Ventura my battery is draining a bit faster than before.. Dis anyone face this issue? Kindly let me know if there is any fix.. Thanks
How long does battery last
@@speedster4647 Earlier it used to be at least 12+ hours and now it's around 8-9 hours max.. No intensive tasks.
Can you downgrade back to an older OS on Macbooks?
I have the same thing
But for me its a bit worse
I have only 5-6 hours
And only watching videos or movies
With half brightness
Not even 4k sometimes
And in safari
If i do some video editing then its like 2-3 hours
Not sure but i feel like apple is trying to kill this thing with updates
@@nickolukac I think they might solve it in the upcoming updates.. Try checking your battery health and the energy usage in Activity monitor. If any app draining more battery kill it.
I love this computer It is totally worth the money, when I bought it I didn't need all the power it offered but I wanted to future proof myself incase I needed it. I don't see a need in purchasing a new laptop for years to come. im not a professional video editor or anything like that where you might need that type of power year to year
Thinking of buying this one instead of M2 Air. I'm more convinced now thanks!
M2 won't preform like a M1 Pro or Max chip
@@whatgaca when will come M2 Pro?
This over an Air any day
actually most people no need it even for 1600$ I returned it , and got 13 pro base and its more than enough for work.
Is it good for music production
perfect
is the base model good enough for coding and heavy using, i.e. multiple windows(20+) and apps open at the same time? also is it true, that 1000GB is faster and better than 512 GB?
The day autodesk makes all of their programs available for mac (such as revit) the world will be a better place... much better place
Your thoughts on working with unreal engine?does it feel laggy?
I don't understand why use cloud mounter instead of google drive official client?
i'm wholly unimpressed with the battery life on my mac.. i've had it for a little over a year now and i get about 8 hours of battery and experience battery drain even when the mac is sleeping. compare this to my m1 macbook air which could last me 14 hours easy of all day use before needing another charge
Xnapper? Cmd+shift+3 whole desktop, Cmd+Shift+4 Parts of the Desktop! Every screenshot is saved to the desktop!
And Cmd+shift+5 gives you even more options!
This mac is the best I have seen and ever have so fast and very good I love this computer
i want a macbook M1 pro 14inch one, or just wait apple release M2 Pro?
I use the base 14 inch MacBook Pro for backend and data development. I really don‘t need more. At the beginning I had doubt regarding the 16MB ram. But this is really enough. I never experienced swap drive. And I use PyCharm, Postman und DataGrip at the same time. No problem. Really a great machine. I wouldn‘t wait for a M2 MacBook Pro.😊
This is exactly the comment I was looking for . Thanks for your input!
Just bought an Apple refurbished model. Great piece of hardware!
Great video , good job
Screen shots? Cmd+shift+4 not good enough?
Hi, have you hd any issues regarding ssd external hard drive. Like the external hard drive operates a lot slower while connected. pease let me know.
Five stars,
Will buy it soon
Setapp is the best thing for Mac users. Really
Guys what is you experience on the battery ?
I mean for the minimal usa : google word, TH-cam, mails, notion...with 1 screen displayed ?
I'm planning to get this beast but I read many comments about the battery being bellow 5hours duration for this kind of work.
Note : for the harder work, I don't mind having to plug it, even all day long.
Thanks !!
if you're using those apps, I'm sure that the battery will last much longer.
I get around 9-10 hrs on battery life with light usage. I use M1 Pro 14 inch base model. Battery health is 100% after 8 months of usage.
4k60 possible on a base model? Here the base m1 13 inch pro gets hiccups on 1080 100fps
Do you use any protective hardshell case on your macbook?
What is your batt life ?
I think ill get one soon
I literally had a can of Coke in hand when he said to get a can of Coke 😅
Yeah, I am not even sure I want to ever go back to Intel-based Macs or computers overall.
And I'm speaking as a person who was initially against the transition. Nope, it was all a good idea.
I just need one for school and like one game tbh
I am so confused, bc. on some reviews, even 16 inch mbp m1 with 10c seems to be a total pain in the neck when it comes to blender 3d etc. but here I hear that even 8c cpu is sufficient.. could anyone please explain me how it is in reality?
Time stamps?
1 year?
Monterey new update and Ventura have now battery drain ( all apps closed, lid close ). Everyone trying to find out what's the cause. Apple remain clueless.
“Reasonable” price lol
shep?
1500 ? where, when ?
120Hz ... but with slow response time, you will now understand Ghost is real.
The dust a lot worse because when the laptop is plugged in, you can feel static on any metal part you rub, that static is increased if you have one part of your body touching something metal then the other rubbing the laptop, static pulls in dust therefore dusty macbook :)
laptops should not be used for heavy duty tasks to be honest that job is best on a desktop that also wont thermo over load like the laptops tend to do when doing heavey editing of videos and other tasks thart are best done on a desktop. i do think tho for lite duty editing a laptop is just fine but people want hipower lappys so they can have the best of both in one and it reallt is not the best of both when your laptop overheats alot when doing stuff thats more ment for a desktop system but to each their own
That's not what that saying means at all...
😂❤ you are adorable
1:44 Its not oled, its mini LED. The pixel is not "lit", its still LCD with backlight, just FYI btw.
a can of coke? haha
