BigAL this is absolutely horrendous. Between the Civil Service and our MLAs they haven't got a single clue how this affects every single citizen in Northern Ireland in the online marketplace. I am disappointed the Equality Commission didn't come through. GB please turn-on Northern Ireland, we can get through this, btw, GB this is coming your direction as well.
I’ve been waiting for almost 2 weeks for an Alliance MLA to get back to me regarding duties being applied to my exports to Belgium and Germany; this means these countries aren’t adhering to the Windsor Framework but we are being held to it by the letter. In addition I’ve raised concerns regarding GPSR.
Alliance wanted the whole Protocol implemented to the fullest scale and they will vote this week that we stay in Europe with all these hurdles for Northern Ireland.
Thank you for creating this video, I will not be able to purchase my supplies for my Jewelry business I can’t even sell to customers in my own country. I’m devastated I can’t see away to stay in business. I will lose everything that took years to build.
GPSR has everything to do with the EU commission. They're the ones you need to petition to. Also N.I company's can enjoy both worlds actually as they can represent themselves in both EU and UK without needing an external company. The people who are going to suffer are actually the N.I customers because GB companies are just going to stop selling to N.I customers to avoid getting an EU rep.
Thank you for this, I’ve been reading and reading for days looking for this, I live in NI, I sell to UK, USA and NI customers only, and I def CAN represent myself can’t I? I sell on Etsy, and I sell prints, so I just make sure all the safety info is on this listing and on the packaging, and keep my own paperwork for 10 years. Please tell me I’m correct. Am I missing anything? X x x
I appreciate these might be basic questions, but they are ones I haven't easily found a clear answer to. I understand the impact GPSR has for GB sellers selling to NI and EU. Does the new regulation affect selling from NI to GB? To give a specific example, say I purchase a second-hand product in NI in January 2025 and wish to sell it on eBay, would I be required to upload the required GPSR documentation in order to sell it to GB and EU/NI? Secondly, with second-hand products I have no idea how you would evidence it was placed on EU market prior to 13/12/2024, so is the current general interpretation that we just won't be able to sell these goods online at all? Appreciate any help or guidance!
Hi easy answer firstly if you are private seller you are exempt and ni to gb is also exempt Secondly second hand goods are exempt if you can see evidence of its date of manufacture being 2001-2024 with eu ce approval anything before that date you are required to provide it but only if you are a business
@BigAl-Castle thanks so much for your reply! I am on the verge of setting up as a re-selling business, but obviously concerned of the repercussions of the new regulations. May hold off until things settle down. Thank you for all your amazing work with this and for sharing what you have learnt. Much appreciated.
A good few of the Wargaming miniature sellers in th UK are now just full on refusing to ship to here now. I have been asking at the post office about items i sell going there and they have NO CLUE.
It's ridiculous, I am mainly a clothing seller and It is so frustrating listing a pair of joggers knowing not one person cares a jot who the manufacturer is and their address. BTW when it asks for an EU responsible person it says that is optional so does it have to be completed?
@@BigAl-Castle Thanks when reading the blurb about it I thought that that you only needed to fill out the responsible person if the company was based outside of the EU and it asked then for the EU responsible person.
My son got a small package in from England this week. I noticed it had a custom declaration on the side of it with its contents listed, the price paid etc. To me this is shocking and we need to get this stopped.
GPSD and GPSR is nothing to do with the CE approval stamp. It doesn't require CE marking. Other regulations like LVD, EMC and ROHs etc require CE marking. Trading standards for some reason don't deal with product regulations (like they do on the mainland), the Health and Safety Exec apparently deals with it, that's why they are saying is a health and safety issue. But I agree the discrimination issue is nothing to do with that.
@@BigAl-Castle I not sure what you mean. GPSD/R are not CE marking directives/regulations. Each regulation has a scope, eg LVD doesn't apply to non-mains products (
This annoys me as even a simple buyer, I have a hobby where I like to collect merch and figures of my favourite game series from Japan, this stuff isn't sold locally here as the game series is bigger over there than it is here, but there is a fan base for it, so far Japanese sellers and proxy services don't seem to have turned us off thankfully, but I do worry about packages being seized. 😮💨
Hi Big ALliance, next Friday your party will vote for the continuation of the Windsor framework which will further bring misery to the sellers and buyers of this country.
Alliance don’t care. They’re too entrenched in playing the same puerile game they’ve been playing since the referendum. Mitigating damage from Brexit or even shielding us from EU red tape weakens their arguments.
Then all irish sellers have to comply. But GB DONT have to comply to sell to northern ireland or the eu thus are turning us off the thing is we cant buy from Ireland and we cant sell to ireland
@BigAl-Castle I'm on etsy and I'm told that I cannot sell to NI unless I comply. Unfortunately NI is encompassed within the UK shipping profile so I have to turn OFF UK entirely to be able to comply.
The ECNI aspect MAY be an indirect race discrimination issue as it excludes people in Northern Ireland. However, that's rather complex although the Burden of Proof Directive would place the onus on those refusing service to prove it wasn't. @@dansweeney4530 it would be hard to prove that any discrimination against citizens in N.I. was based on race as there are 1000's of mainland Brits and foreign nationals living in N.I. , these groups are also equally affected by these EU rules.

As far as I know this new GPSR legislation from the EU is targeted against Chinese exports to Europe. We in N.I. are unfortunately collateral damage. One of the aims of all this is restrict companies like Temu from flooding Europe with cheap goods . The EU claims that China is responsible for 50% of products imported into the EU which have been found to be unsafe.
