The coolest thing about Trench is how it manages to constantly build up a subtle atmosphere of dread. Every song feels there is something big and scary is hiding in the background, like how the bishops are always on Tylers back, constantly watching.
I honestly like that the album has so many genres and different songs yet every song on the album fits the theme perfectly. Even the album cover can be applied to every single song on there
Okay so I just came across this comment and you hit that on the head. I always tried to figure out what it was about this album that made it so unique. Like you listen to it and feel like you are in a specific setting. Like you feel there in the album, if that makes sense.

One thing I realized with Melon is that his reviews cater to a very specific type of sound, that being the punchy, more aggressive, more cutting edge type of sound that tries to be deep and hard hitting all the time, and if it is from a genre he doesn't like or understand, he will dismiss it easily. Examples at hand: he gave Sempiternal by Bring Me The Horizon a 4, for sounding too much like generic Metalcore and Hardcore. But Sempiternal in the Metalcore community is considered a masterpiece. Every BMTH fan calls it their favorite album of theirs or at least one of their best. But since Melon isn't a metalcore fan, he didn't like or try to enjoy it for what it was. Something similar can be said here about SAI. While it's obviously not a masterpiece in it's genre (does it even have a genre?), I personally give SAI a moderately strong 8, or at the very worst a very strong 7. It is a happy sounding, vibe inducing record that takes every popular sound in the 70s and 80s and gives them a modern flare, while also injecting the TOP aesthetic into it. It's hard not to enjoy what it does right, and it's easy to ignore the more tame and lightweight tracks because they never overstay their welcome. The longer tracks are exactly the very good ones, and the shorter tracks work great for a mood setter. Also, being an album made in one year during COVID, and released to give people hope and positivity, you can't simply ignore that it does what it tries to do very well. It is impossible to listen to Good Day and not be filled with smiley vibes. All in all, Melon is a cool guy, but he is incredibly biased, as is anyone with a well defined taste. @@clancy5600 yeah but a lot of ppl doesn't know maybe that's why Paul meany doesn't get much appreciation....but i have listened some of mutemaths songs...they are great as well...
Yes, he co-produced most songs on Trench. But keep in mind, Tyler produced Jumpsuit and My Blood himself. That shows how capable Tyler actually is of producing songs amazingly himself. Paul Meany wasn't involved in the songwriting process as far as I know, and the songwriting on Trench is amazing. I think Paul Meany acted as a mentor to Tyler, teaching him how to sound design synths and create cool effects. Before Trench, Tyler depended heavily on presets on Nexus or Logic Pro. Many people say that Paul Meany was the one who made Trench so great, but I think those people underestimate Tyler's abilites. I don't think Tyler is dependent on Paul to make a great album. Paul definitely elevated the production though. TOP's next album will go back to the ominous style of Trench, so I think TOP will bounce back from SAI which was a very underwhelming album.
I’m going to be honest with you, I’ve been listening to trench for almost 3 years and have not gotten bored from it, that’s a testament to how great it is

I never really saw Smithereens as out of place bc i think it goes back to the ending line of neon gravestones about celebrating the living. You have the first three tracks Jumpsuit, Levitate, Morph as an introduction to the world of Trench. Then you get this loving message of sorts addressed to his brother, paying respect to someone in tylers life. Chlorine is this kind of break that talks about him struggling with his song writing process. Then you get another song celebrating someone in tylers life: his wife. She's one of his biggest motivations for living and making music. Right after that it leads into Neon Gravestones which is about vialism and the core of the whole album, and you realize by the end of that song that Tyler has been fighting against vialism this whole time by choosing to celebrate the people in his life that he loves. After that you get The Hype, a kind of hopeful message to his fans (who are also important people in his life) telling them to not give into the hype of vialism. Nico and the Niners, Cut My Lip, Bandito, are three more songs taking you back into the world of Trench. There's one more break that talks about Tyler struggling with his song writing process in Pet Cheetah. Then there is one more song celebrating someone in Tyler's life in Legend and finally Leave the city to wrap up the whole album.

Tyler Joseph is just waaaaay more talanted, way more versatile, in EVERY Term, just look at the journey of this band and himself. The lyrics, the many sounds he has in his songs, the rhyme schemes, the aesthetics, HE Even created his own world and language within a year + reason why TOP makes songs very slowly throughout the years, its because Tyler puts very much effort in details. AND They get very little help from others. They are like their own thing, own new music genre. Sounds a little fanboy`ish? No i don't think so. It`s just the way it is . Sorry for the long paragraph shit xd
I know it's just so incredible
@@Hazardlv I wouldn't say it's the best in music history, even if it's good. Many bands/artists have made concept albums with the same amount of detail.
You haven't listened to a lot of albums then. Trench is a good album, even a great one I'd say; but one of the best? No way
Bradley represents the TØP insider reaction to the album.
Fanthony Antano represents the TØP outsider reaction to the album.
Who are you?
when you record the Trench Re-reaction before the scaled and icy reaction
and then upload the scaled and icy reaction first
"i hope scaled and icy doesn't make me think how good trench was"
It's been so cool to see your slow progression into loving tøp, even copping the merch
plot twist: brad is the distorted voice in all of the twenty one pilots song (that includes the distorted voices ofc)
Please do the Storyteller Performance and the Mutemath Collaboration. Could be a new step in your character development!
Brad, we love you!!!! And yes Trench is flawless. No matter how much I relisten, it still hits the same
Hey man I just discovered your channel a few days ago but I gotta say, I really love your content. Especially the TØP stuff!
Okay but Neon Gravestones is ALWAYS a listen for me.
So GOOOOOOD always gives me chills
also i know you learned a lot about the lore and i’m not into them anymore but do you think they’re gonna make a new album and the recent one was just a decoy or nah?
They pretty much confirmed they will
Yes they will. The next album probably goes really hard
Tyler has started one
I wouldn’t call this a decoy album, but Tyler’s already writing the new album.
scaled and icy is an “in between album” according to tyler
There is actually an interview where Tyler talks about Ned and says pretty much exactly what Tina said
jumpsuit never ages I swear its the perfect opener
Radiohead cures everything
Oh yeah This is my favourite TH-cam channel by far, love to Brad Tina and your dog :)

twenty one pilots is one of those bands that you have to see live. their concerts are so incredible and they do such a good job of connecting songs from different albums and making the songs an experience. especially for the bandito tour. the entire trench album feels different when heard live.
it´s always good to go back to the times where we were happy
"It's not funny"
"...it's a little funny"
definitely funny
god damn man, I used to be a twenty one pilots fan and listened to them almost exclusively for like 5-6 years and listened to trench and scaled and icy on their release days, now I don't listen to them at all and am a massive radiohead & strokes fan but I forgot how amazing this album is
"Just listened to a moon shaped pool"
plays nude
ah yes brad my fellow radiohead enjoyer
Brad is just running a Twenty One Pilots stan account now and I’m all for it
That string of 5 songs from Jumpsuit to Chlorine is a 10/10.
Who wants a “The Black Parade” re-react? 👀
That would be amazing
YES PLEASE
I really do, but im scared it'd shrink on him 😭
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
Tyler‘s screams here hit so different without the weird vocal effects from previous albums
I LOVE HEARING TINA IN THE BACKGROUND, SHE’S SO SWEET :))
Please I’m laughing in college watching this video Brad is so funny and Tina being there just makes the video funnier
