Not to be that person, but I can honestly say that I love every song on Trench. Tyler and Josh have done an incredible job creating this album. I feel that every song is so unique and each one hits me in a different way. I just love it 💛||-//💛
In my opinion this was definitely better than Blurryface, if not their best album so far. I had high expectations for this album but it's even better than I thought it would be :)
Yesterday when I went buy Trench, in the store I've met 2 girls from the Clique (they also were buying the album) and one of them waved to me and smiled, I did the same :) Then when I was going out of the store (with our fresh treasure 😁) they talked to me. For someone else it could seem weird that I'm happy about that somebody has talked to me, but it was my first time I've met some Clique members. That was amazing. Stay Alive, frens ||-//
I love Trench as a whole. Chlorine, Morph, Levitate, Legend, and Pet Cheetah are some of my favorites. The last bit of Neon Gravestones hits me hard everytime, just thinking about my grandparents. The same thing happens with Legend, which reminds me sooooo much of Vessel in the best way. I wanted more screams from Tyler, but i'm fine without it. Cut my Lip, The Hype, and Leave the City were okay. Jumpsuit, NATN, Smithereens, and Bandito were great. Neon Gravestones is gorgeous in every aspect. My Blood could be popular, even though it's an okay track imo. It's probably their second best album, with Vessel remaining my top (hehe) pick.
Whatever you get out of it is good for you, not trying to take that away from you. However, those lyrics are not meant to be remembering your elders or people who have passed. The song is about his own potential suic!de. It's kind of like his internal thought about what if he did it. When he says that at the end about grandparents or someone of age he means these people obviously had struggles in life also but they kept at it to get to the age they are, and to celebrate that and celebrate life.
All I've allowed myself to watch on youtube for the past day was the trench album... it was a day well-spent 😂 On top of that, nice job getting this together after the struggles on the livestream 🌼
i will not tolerate any cut my lip slander it’s a beautiful song with an amazing meaning and even tyler said it was one of his favorites on the album I LOVE IT
I like Trench a lot, but it hasn't reached the level of any of the other albums yet, I suppose I just gotta keep listening and connecting. Haha. Great reaction, Jake! I'm interested to see what videos you have in store.
not sure if someone else has pointed this out already, but morph's lyrics has some sort of religious undertones. talks about afterlife and the like. it's so good.
I loved listening to this album with your perspective because I can tell you obviously grasp, not only the musicality, but the storyline and concepts and are able to make clear connections between them.
Still too soon to predict if Trench will meet the success of Blurryface, but in terms of music this album is far ahead of anything they put out in the past in every aspect. They kept the Twenty One Pilots sound but improved it into this very mature sound. There's musical brilliance in this, they truly undone themselves. All of the songs are different from each other, but somehow they managed to keep all of them tied together, so it sounds as a proper album. And the production is just amazing, from the main instrumental parts to all those little details. I feel like that they finally found out what they really want to do with their music....or more like they finally found out how to do it. Because that was my biggest problem with their previous albums. There were songs that really followed their vision of the sound, but then there were songs which just fell flat, because they didn't know how to execute it well. But now with this album they truly knew what they were doing and it paid off, because there's not a song I didn't love. Yes, love. For the first time I can say, that I love every song from TOP album. It became easily one of my favourite albums.
That’s one of my three dance moves, agh if I ever see you in person I’m giving you a hug you just make me smile so much. Couldn’t wait for your reaction.
I loved hearing everything you had to say about these songs. I listened to them on their youtube a few days about and I've been bopping to the new songs, but then I remembered you'd review them! I was excited to see the views you had on each song and what you thought of them, cause I could compare my thoughts with yours and develop more of a picture of the album. Thanks for noticing some things I hadn't haha. I can't wait to see some individual videos about each song or their meanings! It's the beginning of an Era. Love your videos dude
Neon gravestones is about how when famous people commit suicide and people start to talk and love them more after their gone instead of after they are gone and according to the song Tyler was saying that it shouldn't be praised
I think its more about how mental issue affects those who really have it. That others should not fantasize having it. And to people who really have it to be strong. To see what's beyond and that they deserve to be alive. That there is sadness and depression is like wanting to live but your brain just wants to end everything.
Vessels is what what brought me to this tøp. Blurry Face honestly made me liked the band more, I was worried that Blurry Face was TOO big of an album to kinda make the next album not all that good, but honestly, this album exceeded my expectations. It did what it had to do. Lot of bands usually come short right after making a big hit album, but tøp pulled it off.
I got to your review of chloring at the end and i wanted to scream that JOSH IS SINGING WITH TYLER!!! this is the first album (that i know of) that Josh sings a few times in it. This is why Chlorine is one of my faves!
Funny. Cut My Lip was the first song I listened to (aside from the singles). I REALLY love that one so much. It's probably my favorite off the album and most listened to so far. Meanwhile smithereens is probably my least liked. Nothing against Smithereens I just can't get into it as much.
I feel like it’s my duty to comment this everyone since no one else has seemed to notice. But the last chord in Leave the City is also the last chord in Truce..
14:30 Reminds me of Goner so much and I was literally dying when I first listened cuz I clean forgot about the song and didn't know what it reminded me of.
Oh and Smithereens is about Jenna and Legend is about Tyler's grandpa (rip), so he was singing about people in those, making em sound like love songs, which one kinda was.
Twenty One pilots arent' just a band to me. there lyrics help me through so much. one day i was thinking about ending it all i had all i need... and then me and my parents went to wall mart and i was just finding out about Twenty One Pilots. and i had some money to blow so i went to the CD isle and i vessel caught my eye. i bought it and took it home. i was writing my suicide note wile listening to it then, Truce came on. and ill never forget this. When he said "Stay Alive, Stay Alive for me" i felt like he was speaking to me and i ripped up the note and started crying. You may not understand and i don't either, but i had a sudden change of mind. its my favorite song by them. and now i always say Stay Alive to everyone and at the end of my videos man. They saved my life, Ill forever be a part of the clique. ll-// Love you all never take your life, cause people care about you i promise i love you all. I hope my story can help some of you. Stay Alive.
I remember listening to this album in my dorm room’s closet for the first time. Experiencing new music from them is such an experience I needed my own space with no distractions in total darkness as dramatic as that is. The last minute of chlorine hit me so hard I just had tears streaming down my face. Hard to believe this album will be two years old in October, time flies by too fast.
Pet cheetah is almost writers block and the pet cheetah is him because his studio is his basement and u can feel the beat rise and he just attacks the mic. That’s what I think it is about. Also if you listen to the lyrics in the begining it makes sense
Also. Cut My Lip is very classic twenty øne pilots sound. Cause it have all direction they add in this song. Instrumental, vocals, production and Transition, it's all mix up together.
Is it just me, or do albums end with sad songs? For instance: Vessel; Truce. Trench; Leave the City. *why do they have to make us cry at the end of the album*
I can confidently say I love every single song in this album and that goes for every other album they have made . It doesn’t matter what song comes on I don’t think I’ve ever skipped a tøp song .
I fucking love all the new songs!!! My favorites are Morph, Chlorine, Neon Gravestones, The Hype, Cut My Lip, Bandito, and Pet Cheetah. Smithereens, Legend, and Leave the City are the only ones that didn't really hit me so hard. They are still good and I still like them, just not as much as the others. And of course, love all the singles!!! Edit: Actually, Legend and Leave the City have really grown on me. So now my only least favorite on the album is Smithereens.

What I love is that half of the album goes by and you don't realize because they do the transitioning so well! The whole album is beautiful
