Quit, - while you were ahead! Nice Going! (I can just see her, crying into her pillow every night now, ..."That Bastard! -That Album was Supposed to be Mine!!"😭)😁
I guess it comes down to personal taste and for me, The Chauffeur is the best song, by the best pop group, ever recorded. Beautiful, perfect. Bravo boys, from a fellow Brummie.
i first heard this song 2 days ago and i was like wow who sings this is it some one new how refreshing , then i found out it was duran duran i watched the video and both video and song was perfection , i was shoked that it was an 80s tune because it sounds timeless , so glad i found this song its fabulous 👍
Not only that but I think this was done in the early 80s... possibly even recorded or wrote in the late 70s!!!(I could be wrong on that.) But yea... GENIUS!!!! WAY WAY WAAAAAAAY ahead of it's time and SUPER TIMELESS!!!!! That pipe wind instrument he plays, if I'm not mistaken, is the oldest instrument known to man. So I mean... super timeless in every possible sense. Ahead of it's time and also having something from the earliest time man had instruments(if I'm not mistaken.)
I was 17 when I discovered this song back in 2007, it haunted me then and still does now. I can never explain how it makes me feel but got to be my favourite DD track 🥰
Classic like a good wine mattures with age.. love DD espically Simon iv been alife long fan from 1980 seen them in Dublin absloutley brilliant. So glad there opening up the commonwealth games cant wait.
I was a Duranie and always will be. These guys can really PERFORM. They were never just overly produced, slick synthesized 80s run of the mill crap. Their stage performances were always on par with any studio recording they made. Just awesome...not many singers or bands can touch them.
This song is one of many reasons DD are giants in the New Wave genre. In fact it might have been the moment this band broke out of its Boy Band reputation. "Oh, they are better than we thought," the critics seemed to say. This is appreciated by even the snobbiest pop music connoisseurs. The use of this song in Greenberg (2010) was a brilliant bit of writing.
Particularily like this because it's got the helmet newton inspired video projected on the background that went with the song which normally you cannot watch or post unless you say you are over 18 with Perry Lister dancing as The Chauffeur topless. Formerly Billy Idol's girlfriend and New Romantic/Hot Gossip dancer.
I purchased this album when I first heard songs on a University of Miami radio station and then got the first album after that. Its so many permutations to listening these album .
Super nice true 1980 classic pop band, had their posters all over my room back in the days, Nick is my favorite. Remember them in 1985 Valby hallen DK first live show WOOW, "ladies and gentleman welcome to Duran Duraaaaaaaaaaan".....It was/is magic. Thanks for sharing.
I became a fan when my sister's friend brought back "Carnival" from across the pond after spending a summer there! If you love the Chauffeur, you'll also love "The Man Who Stole a Leopard." Have: Duran Duran Rio Seven and the Ragged Tiger Live from Madison Square Garden (bootleg radio recording) Notorious Strange Behavior Astronaut Paper Gods Medazzaland Come Undone Pop Trash and two more titles I forget.
This song pulls all kindsa emotions out of me❤...Mmmm Sing Blue Silver.....this sound is so mysterious (like me). Definitely one of my faves by D2, that and the bass from New Religion & Rio. Le Sigh.......🤗😎
Came here looking for a live version of this song so I could see what the "flute" instrument is, also expecting that no way a live performance could sound as good as the studio track for such a complicated "synthy" song. I was wrong. They nailed it live.
Every true DD fan cannot but love this song.
My favourite and Anyone out there, then careless memory.
It has been my top favourite since it was released.
.
😮b yub
I think it was my favorite....
Bought this album 1982 for my girlfriend ....girl is gone but the lp is mine.
Her loss.
You have chosen wisely... 😏
Nice work, most of us have a similar story... some did not get to keep the lp.
Quit, - while you were ahead! Nice Going!
(I can just see her, crying into her pillow every night now, ..."That Bastard! -That Album was Supposed to be Mine!!"😭)😁
ahahahahaha
This the the "Stairway to Heaven" for Duran Duran.
For me this is on another level
@@mrbungle3310 a much higher level than SWTH
I just love the fact that Simon plays the ocarina himself instead of it being a backing track. Must click replay now, this is so brilliant.
Beautiful song! I am a huge Duran Duran fan. The Chauffeur gets me everytime. It's mysterious and enchanting. Classic...timeless. Love these guys.
Hi there, I'm a Duranie from Asia. Would you kindly enlighten the meaning of the lyrics of this D.D. classic please? Best regards.
Simon voice is still just as good as it ever. Been a fan since Planet Earth
God where has time gone?
I guess it comes down to personal taste and for me, The Chauffeur is the best song, by the best pop group, ever recorded.
Beautiful, perfect. Bravo boys, from a fellow Brummie.
I'm inclined to agree with U
This is going to be my funeral song, as the curtain closes, the congregation will here Simon's glorious voice sing me off to my final sleep.
Best band in World History
The Toltec 👏👏👏👏
☻🎸🙋🏿♂️👏👏👏🏆
Agreed
Masterpiece
The best. Love the darker tone that has a hint of Depeche Mode to start and then evolves into a mix of so many influences.

I fell in love with The Chauffeur when I was about ten. That was nearly 40 years ago, and it’s still my favorite song.
I've been listening for 26 years and I am never disappointed!!

I can never get tired of hearing this classic...
Haunting, immortal masterpiece.

Such a hypnotizing song. You guys performed it magically. Still one of my favorite bands of all time.
Best band in World History🎸🎸🎸
Fell in love with the song all over again.
One of my favourite tunes from DD! 5 stars! Rule in 2020!
2019 and I still love this song...
I think this is the definitive version of this great song.
Christ what an album then and now
Only two words; great, love! And the flute... awwwhhf..
+Tuula Orre-Aava It's an ocarina, not a flute ;-)
@@crrispys3035 Actually an ocarina is a kind of flute!
Nice, but the live 1984 is without contest the best version, amazing and exceptional, "Sing blue silver" is incredible. I still listen it regularly.
Could listen to this song over and over... classic track.
Simon LeBon - Best pop lyricist to date.
Yes!!!
Jedyny mi znany utwór w muzyce pop, gdzie główna partia jest grana na okarynie. Ostatnie półtorej minuty jest genialne, panowie wiedza co robią.
Canzone favolosa....Da brividi❤
