This track is dope as ever and JT just owns the solid funk that drives the tune. I love that they song the double layers of different lyrics together even live. It’s a wonderful embellishment I’ve always loved about this song.
I love this song, one of their best. Sadly they didn’t perform it when I saw them live 3 weeks ago but luckily I’ve seen them sing it live at concerts before.
Been a fan since '81 and this has always been one of my favorites. John is the most underrated bassist ever. Nick is a genius; Simon has a one-of-a-kind voice. Roger is amazing too!
It’s an incredibly complicated song to have structured this early in their career - just awesome, and the song that made me pick up a bass, that was 40 years ago and we’ve had some wild nights since then!
@@gmansi I'd say because a lot of it is "against the grain" - John's heavily syncopated, pumping bass riff, Andy's metal-meets-funk guitar, Simon's close-to-rapping ("searching for the undeniable truth that a man is just a fool" - can anyone sum it all up better?), Nick's Keys in "duel" with the bass, and everything on Roger's solid carpet. "Complex" may be more fitting, perhaps. But Khanada was also pretty complex; and the My Own Way "Night version" is also pretty cool.
