Completed both the Reign of chaos and frozen throne campaigns last year. Still great:D The original Warcraft 3 has gotten 1920x1080p patch fixing the resolution for modern computers as well
I still remember being 7 years old and always excited every time I went to my uncle's place, where he would let me play his Warcraft 2 game. He introduced me to the whole genre and I was overjoyed 5 years later when Warcraft 3 launched and I got it that same x-mas. Being that young and falling in love with all those characters gives me ridiculous nostalgia and is still my all time favorite game.
Well, it is finally here... And I am regretting that I did not play it BEFORE Reforged. I actually never finished the campaigns in the original WC3, and now Blizzard forces everyone to play through the buggy and problem-ridden Reforged - I have the Classic keys, but fuck me I guess. Guess I have to pirate the game off some torrent site, it is unbelievably scummy that Blizz won't let owners of the original play anything else but Reforged now, when in some senses the old version beats the new hands down. Oh, and I did preorder reforged. Regretting it already.

I remember going into a cybercafe and saw WC3 icon for the first time. I clicked it and then the opening cinematic played. "We never paid any heed to the ancient prophecies.." That first line gave goosebumps. I feel in love with the game at that very moment lol.
So sadly true. I guess they were testing the waters of the RPG genre with Reforged. And since it is not doing that swimmingly, they will determine RPG genre is dead - instead of the actual case, which is were they to do it properly people would play the fuck out of it. I still feel the Warcraft 3 Humans campaign is the best singleplayer RTS campaign I've ever played.I feel it does so well with the story, the level design, and the pacing of unit unlocks and difficulty.
For some reason it seems to me the orc vs human cinematic has less "power" to it in reformed than in the original. The fight doesn't feel as brutal and the orc scream doesn't sound as beastly as before. Just my impressions atleast,the cimematics where quite important in creating the atmosphere of the game so I have to be critical there. As far as the original game goes, there's a mission in the night elf campaign where you sneak past demon patrols while also avoiding getting involved in battles between Orcs, Humans and Undead. And at the the end you fight some Satyrs and corrupted Ents. It seemed crazy at the time and was one of my favourite moments.
Intersting - I actually feel the opposite! Feels more visceral in the reforged one, especially with the Infernal. They've said that the other cinematics are more remasters based on the originals more than full recreations, so interested to see what they look like in comparison. May hold more of the original feel you're looking for!

Only the opening cinematic was remastered, all the other ones will just look and sound way way better, won't be as god damn blurry anymore which is fucking huge imo. ALL cinemaics already look great, but the opening one was by far imo the one that looked the worst, I'm glad that got the remaster. What I am curious about is the illidian vs Arthas battle, is that going to be a proper cinematic or just them two hitting each other in third person and then one collapses lol?
Strangely, I've never been sold on RTS that used single model systems ( I grew up on Battle for Middle Earth, Total War, Dawn of War 2) for their armies. It just never had the scale that such a game should evoke to me.
I feel like RTS games like Warcraft 3 allow for better control over your units and thus the battle. But I can see how some separation of control is part of the appeal of some of the games you listed. Large Warcraft 3 battles also look very grand to me as you have each of the units fighting in melee or groups of ranged units in a pretty great spectacle. (Unfortunately this feels a bit lost to me in Starcraft 2)
I still own the game and expansion disc back my father bought it at release and I play it to this day, the campaigns along with melee games and especially all the custom maps that are so creative and sparked Mobas to exist make warcraft 3 an amazing experience, never one to get dull.
You should also do a video on the Warlords Battlecry series, especially Battlecry 3 and standalone mod The Protectors. They're also a hero-based RTS and were doing the hero mechanics earlier than Warcraft 3.
Yes these are my childhood games lol but the biggest gripe I had with these games is population limits, the older C&C games are the first game that I’ve encountered and played in a total war fashion.
If Reforged has a similar unit control to Starcraft 2's, maybe it can support a higher number of troops in a single battle. As far as I remembered, having 3 12 stacks was already pushing the amount of control you have over your units. And in a single battle between armies things get chaotic and you can't understand everything that's happening easily.
Sorry but i am gonna skip this vid. Everyone will play it, just like Classic WoW.. end of story. Outside of this TH-cam/Web and whatsoever area.. there is the real mass that is like: "Ah, i heard they're gonna re-release Warcraft 3, nice.. can't wait to spend all my money on that golden classic title"
You can still download the od wc3 from their classic games section on their site it will just need to confirm either your cd key or your account where you own reforged!
And Blizzard just killed it. No I'm ducking serious WC3 and all files have been removed from Battlenet, and the "remaster" is in such a poor state that this may have herald the end of the Warcraft RTS franchise.

Warcraft III will live for many years and still aged well when I become a grandpa lol. They put a lot of effort on this game, thinking that younger generations will play this game in modern times, it's that good.
Its a good game still, sadly what they wont tell you especially from the custom community is those updates that blizzard has put in have not been so quality of life, the game crashes a lot, there have been entire custom maps that haven't been able to function even dota 1 itself and battlenet at a stage was so dead people were convinced blizzard were making the updates to force people to buy reforged essentially. But the base game is still fine, I just feel that after owning it for many years I am getting less for my money when a custom map thats no longer being developed gets thanosed by a Blizzard update. Pray that reforged does help the game more than anything else.
That is unfortunate, can't speak to much of it as I haven't been involved in the community over a long time, but I agree I hope the Remaster stands up!
Probably someone already told you, but I can't find it in the comments. After you preorder Reforged you can go to your games in the BattleNet WEBSITE (not app), and download installer for Warcraft3. After installation it will show you a window with 2 options: - Enter CD key for those who bought game before Reforged announce - Login with B.Net account for those who bought it after Either way you will get to play original ROC/TFT.
Preordering reforged grants immediate access to the base game and TFT. Once you download the launcher you'll be able to "validate" the game one of two ways, by attaching it to your battle.net account (so it can verify you own reforge), or by inputting the proper CD-keys.

Warcraft 3 introduced the hero mechanics in order to be unique among RTS games. These days, RTS are few and far between whereas RPG elements are omnipresent which makes the old school, non-hero gameplay of Starcraft 2 unique. En taro Tassadar!
I got it from my pre-purchase. all of their retro games are listed under a weird page on their website. if you google classic wc3 download it will be the first one to pop up
whats a good custom campaign that explains the story of WCI and II without getting into the really annoying controls? Also anything for WC4 that doesn't go into the whole annoying mini quests.
FYI the original discs are good for F-all now, if you want to play multiplayer that is... I bought reforged for myself just to get a copy of WC3 and I used the original physical copies to install on my brothers PC, updated both games on battle.net, went to fire it up over LAN and they're not compatible, didn't realise they were two different patch versions. You cant update the original disc any further.
This game launched millions of gamers, and billions of $ in gaming, most of US started with it, DOTA, LOL, + other games started or copied ideas from Warcraft 3 customs maps, So you can say it may be the father/god of games :) Lets hope will have the controls and graphics for 2019+ so it can last at least 17 more :)
if u like more units go play starcraft then... remember warcraft 3 is micro based even if they gave us more units to control it will be better to be on the custom games like azeroth wars imo than melee ladder the pathing sometimes is bullshiet so i agree.
I may and may not buy it, depending in how the multiplayer browser works. Because one of the biggest pains when trying to play with friends was trying to find a server and both of you trying to find and join that said server. I dont not HOW many hours we wasted with that rutine. So a borwser and friendlist and that I can simply join a server via the friendlist would be nice.

Okay...…. serious question for those of you who have experience playing the original WOW and the 2019 one Very long time ago, I have bought what I thought was a full pack: battle chest pack(the one that has three pictures on the box which is the game, Burning Crusade expansion, and a strategy guide) also came with it two small boxes which are Cataclysm and Wrath of the Lich king. Now my question is.... what would you recommend ? do I start with the ones I have then the new 2019 one ? not sure what are the differences to be honest ? or just leave it and start with this new one ? To my is very clear why we don't get WC4, because WoW, cause they main story goes on on WoW and until they don't kill WoW the options they have are, making side stories leaving the main ones to be part of WoW or talk about a different one that may take place many years from the current lore (which I don't see happening) Besides the original idea for W3 was what we know now as WoW so in many ways... that also adds on it. Don't get me wrong I love RTS, W3 was a fine tune in gaming history but for W4 I understand why is a complex topic.
If warcraft 3 reforged is a success i dont see why they dont make expansions for it like they do for wow. Although admittedly the direct sequel to warcraft 3 is vanilla so we could have either 8 fleshed out factions (too many imo) or just 2 protagonist factions (Alliance & Horde) with 2 antagonist factions - Dark Iron Dwarves and Black Rock Orcs for example. If Total War Warhammer series is anything to go by blizz could copy their campaign dlcs idea and create specific story campaigns like the invasion of gilneas and make specific factions for it like a forsaken and Gilnean faction.
I don't give a fart about World of Warcraft, but I adore the RTS games it was based on. The competition with the Command and Conquer games urged both teams to get more creative and go for more variation and distinction between the factions. Oh yeah.Unit personality. The heroes get the fame, but your regular units get to spit out gems like "This… is… my boomstick!" "Judge me by my size, do you?" And a personal favorite: "Mortar Kombat!!!"
Controversial opinion: one of the things I loved about the original WC3 was that it had such a unique and vibrant art style. Maybe the graphics weren't the greatest, but the "look" of the world was one of the things that pulled me in, and still enjoy looking at. Plus, I'm lucky enough to have the original WC3 and Frozen Throne on my computer, STILL untouched by the Blizzard "update". The game itself has aged very well, certainly a lot better than other RTS's like the original Age of Empires (not AoE2, mind you! I still love playing that one.)
There are only 2 types of people in this world: - Those who haven't played WC3. - Those that did. When I was in the former camp, I avoided WC3 like the plague. Everyone hounded me to play it. Now I'm in the latter camp, all my NEW friends avoid me like the plague lol.
WC3 is worth it purely because of its plot, even if you hate RTS games. I jumped in blind after being fascinated by wow's background lore, and absolutely loved every minute of WC3!
Who wants some game like Warcraft 3? Try Spellforce 3: + Great story + RTS/RPG hybrid + Interesting world but - It has a few annoying bugs. Nothing game breaking tho. It has it's own Frozen Throne-like expansion - Harvest of Souls.
W3 Battlechest was the best $50 I ever spent. I love this game and I LOVE that editor. I too want W4 but there were some good points here that deep down I think most people know are true. WoW is doing too well that AB wouldn't dare risk dividing up that cash cow, so maybe AB need a new inspired fantasy franchise they can palm the RTS thirst off to.
@@Zade_95 For me it was mostly roleplay, TD's, hero survivals and more interesting maps like Toy Soldiers, Cruiser Command. Still, SotDRP, XRP and RoTRP were my childhood. Oh and Battleships/Battletanks
I am a huge rts fan, C&C RA 1 got me Into pc gaming but to be honest with you I never reay liked wc3, just played the campaign and thats it. Ofc we played a bunch of Enfos and TDs
I'm back on it to play Frozen Throne cause I never finished it and campaign mods and the original DOTA which is still the best moba cause you are invested in the characters, not like LOL or other moba

That's what I thought too, but reading some forums I saw a lot of people saying they did not get access and weren't aware when they would get it. Didn't quite feel like buying it myself yet to find out, but I'll update the description if you do when I do pick it up
Calling it a reskin is bit unfair imo, but I see your point. It's cool that the original will be compatible with Reforged though, so if you don't wanna buy it you can still play with those who do!

The most favorite race I love is the Naga, and I can't wait to see them remastered
Naga could easily have it's own faction in a new game (warcraft 4). Burning Legion and Undead should also be separate factions in a new game.
For something that was only used in the campaign levels, they sure put a lot of work in what is essentially a new race.

Its a good game still, sadly what they wont tell you especially from the custom community is those updates that blizzard has put in have not been so quality of life, the game crashes a lot, there have been entire custom maps that haven't been able to function even dota 1 itself and battlenet at a stage was so dead people were convinced blizzard were making the updates to force people to buy reforged essentially.
But the base game is still fine, I just feel that after owning it for many years I am getting less for my money when a custom map thats no longer being developed gets thanosed by a Blizzard update. Pray that reforged does help the game more than anything else.
Im just slightly confused with your comment here- Dota2 has nothing to do with Blizzard?

Pre-ordering Reforged does give you access to classic, but you have to download the client from your account. And at 30 bucks it's still a good deal.

Probably someone already told you, but I can't find it in the comments.
After you preorder Reforged you can go to your games in the BattleNet WEBSITE (not app), and download installer for Warcraft3. After installation it will show you a window with 2 options:
- Enter CD key for those who bought game before Reforged announce
- Login with B.Net account for those who bought it after
Either way you will get to play original ROC/TFT.
Preordering reforged grants immediate access to the base game and TFT. Once you download the launcher you'll be able to "validate" the game one of two ways, by attaching it to your battle.net account (so it can verify you own reforge), or by inputting the proper CD-keys.

And if you play all campaigns and watch closing video, you get the bonus campaigns. One of which I found better than the other main campaigns. Did I mention the editor that lets you change your NPCs and playable characters (and structures). Don't do this. I never would.

Oh man. I miss when the servers were insanely full. When you create a new game: Footman Wars Upgraded. And 11 others join within a second and you can start the game directly. Those were the times

Warcraft 3 introduced the hero mechanics in order to be unique among RTS games. These days, RTS are few and far between whereas RPG elements are omnipresent which makes the old school, non-hero gameplay of Starcraft 2 unique. En taro Tassadar!

whats a good custom campaign that explains the story of WCI and II without getting into the really annoying controls?

FYI the original discs are good for F-all now, if you want to play multiplayer that is... I bought reforged for myself just to get a copy of WC3 and I used the original physical copies to install on my brothers PC, updated both games on battle.net, went to fire it up over LAN and they're not compatible, didn't realise they were two different patch versions. You cant update the original disc any further.

This game launched millions of gamers, and billions of $ in gaming, most of US started with it, DOTA, LOL, + other games started or copied ideas from Warcraft 3 customs maps, So you can say it may be the father/god of games :) Lets hope will have the controls and graphics for 2019+ so it can last at least 17 more :)

Anyone else use one Warcraft code to install the game on several computers? It allowed me to play LAN matches with one copy and that was all I needed.

Only things I hate about this game are the pathing and 12 unit selection limit.
I think the 12 unit selection was a conscious decision, but it does get old sometimes :P
if u like more units go play starcraft then... remember warcraft 3 is micro based even if they gave us more units to control it will be better to be on the custom games like azeroth wars imo than melee ladder the pathing sometimes is bullshiet so i agree.
I may and may not buy it, depending in how the multiplayer browser works. Because one of the biggest pains when trying to play with friends was trying to find a server and both of you trying to find and join that said server. I dont not HOW many hours we wasted with that rutine.
So a borwser and friendlist and that I can simply join a server via the friendlist would be nice.

Hi. For anyone who’s played something like Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, and WOW, how similar are the 2 games? If played 100 hours on BOTW and I’ve loved it. Will I love WOW/Warcraft 3 as well?

Okay...…. serious question for those of you who have experience playing the original WOW and the 2019 one
Very long time ago, I have bought what I thought was a full pack: battle chest pack(the one that has three pictures on the box which is the game, Burning Crusade expansion, and a strategy guide) also came with it two small boxes which are Cataclysm and Wrath of the Lich king.
Now my question is.... what would you recommend ? do I start with the ones I have then the new 2019 one ? not sure what are the differences to be honest ? or just leave it and start with this new one ?

you have all the way to legion expac available to you now. Buy game time and start playing. You can also play classic with gametime.

To my is very clear why we don't get WC4, because WoW, cause they main story goes on on WoW and until they don't kill WoW the options they have are, making side stories leaving the main ones to be part of WoW or talk about a different one that may take place many years from the current lore (which I don't see happening) Besides the original idea for W3 was what we know now as WoW so in many ways... that also adds on it. Don't get me wrong I love RTS, W3 was a fine tune in gaming history but for W4 I understand why is a complex topic.

If warcraft 3 reforged is a success i dont see why they dont make expansions for it like they do for wow. Although admittedly the direct sequel to warcraft 3 is vanilla so we could have either 8 fleshed out factions (too many imo) or just 2 protagonist factions (Alliance & Horde) with 2 antagonist factions - Dark Iron Dwarves and Black Rock Orcs for example. If Total War Warhammer series is anything to go by blizz could copy their campaign dlcs idea and create specific story campaigns like the invasion of gilneas and make specific factions for it like a forsaken and Gilnean faction.

I don't give a fart about World of Warcraft, but I adore the RTS games it was based on.
The competition with the Command and Conquer games urged both teams to get more creative and go for more variation and distinction between the factions.
Oh yeah.Unit personality. The heroes get the fame, but your regular units get to spit out gems like "This… is… my boomstick!" "Judge me by my size, do you?"
And a personal favorite: "Mortar Kombat!!!"
Controversial opinion: one of the things I loved about the original WC3 was that it had such a unique and vibrant art style. Maybe the graphics weren't the greatest, but the "look" of the world was one of the things that pulled me in, and still enjoy looking at. Plus, I'm lucky enough to have the original WC3 and Frozen Throne on my computer, STILL untouched by the Blizzard "update". The game itself has aged very well, certainly a lot better than other RTS's like the original Age of Empires (not AoE2, mind you! I still love playing that one.)

When I was in the former camp, I avoided WC3 like the plague. Everyone hounded me to play it.
Now I'm in the latter camp, all my NEW friends avoid me like the plague lol.
WC3 is worth it purely because of its plot, even if you hate RTS games.

W3 Battlechest was the best $50 I ever spent. I love this game and I LOVE that editor. I too want W4 but there were some good points here that deep down I think most people know are true. WoW is doing too well that AB wouldn't dare risk dividing up that cash cow, so maybe AB need a new inspired fantasy franchise they can palm the RTS thirst off to.

@@Zade_95 For me it was mostly roleplay, TD's, hero survivals and more interesting maps like Toy Soldiers, Cruiser Command. Still, SotDRP, XRP and RoTRP were my childhood. Oh and Battleships/Battletanks

I am a huge rts fan, C&C RA 1 got me Into pc gaming but to be honest with you I never reay liked wc3, just played the campaign and thats it. Ofc we played a bunch of Enfos and TDs

That's what I thought too, but reading some forums I saw a lot of people saying they did not get access and weren't aware when they would get it. Didn't quite feel like buying it myself yet to find out, but I'll update the description if you do when I do pick it up

Calling it a reskin is bit unfair imo, but I see your point. It's cool that the original will be compatible with Reforged though, so if you don't wanna buy it you can still play with those who do!

@@C05597641 Reskin implies low effort, cash grab, etc. This is a full reworking/recreation of all art assets, new cutscenes, new sound, voices, back-end technical work, compatibility with modern systems, and probably a ton of other things I'm not aware of!
