Hi boss, I so much appreciate the easy way you explain in details how to use this application, in fact I have benefited in all the 24 videos of this one bedroom house But I am having this difficulty creating a fascial concrete using profile according to the fascia and frieze setting on the application Can you please do a complete video on that, I will so much appreciate 🤜🤛🤜🤛
Very good your videos. I enjoy the way how you are explaining so that it easy to follow. I still have one problem in constructing roofs. I need to include build dormer. Are you planning to make a separate video or there is an easy way to explain?
Great stuff, really learning a lot. Could you do another video on the detail roof struts you talked about earlier on. If it needs to be done in archichad we don't mind...
If anyone is having issues doing the roof projection; don't use negative values for the rafter construction. Use the auto-calculate thickness offset. Then it will work
Thank You very much for Your course. It is a lot of help for me. I have to draw a 5 story house where the roof is covering a part of the 4th and the 5th story. In which story should I draw the root?
I did learn some on this video as well as a bit of refresh but what I am struggling with is two overlapping roofs with different plate heights and then an add on. Can't seem to find a video on that, maybe you can do a tutorial on that scenario...
hey you are really awsome teacher i am making 2 story house when finish the ground floor and moved to upper floor in the next tab the ground floor was not showing there just how it shows it in revit, also when i do the xref overlay nothing shows up on the next tab can you help me out with that
Hello brother, your videos are great, can you please make a video for three storage building with stair inside but show the step per order like : 01,02,03.....thank you.
I am designing a building that will have a poured concrete roof. The concrete will be supported by bar joists and steel sheeting and rebar. The concrete will contain 2 IN foam insulation placed above the steel sheeting. You designed the roof in the same drawing as the first floor. Since I need to include details beyond just a profile, do you suggest that I put it in a separate drawing? If so, should I XFREF the building into the drawing and then design the roof on the XREF?
Yes and yes. The view is what brings everything together. I think you have a pretty good understand of this thing. If you watch my 4 bedroom house timelapse video, you'll get a good idea.
Please how do I design a water tank sitting on the roof in AutoCAD Architecture? Do I make a slab on the floor area I want the tank to sit on, then raise concrete walls, just before drawing the roof, or...? Kindly respond. Thanks
Oh wow, you just discouraged me a bit when you said AutoCAD Architectural can’t do the actual framing. I use Chief Architect Premier and it does a good job except for frame overs when doing a reverse gable roof. It can’t generate valley plates. I was hoping AC could. Can Rivet? However I’ll continue watching cause “you the man” 😎
Nice... Revit can do almost anything, based on my understanding. I am not a heavy Revit user. You can manually make the roof framing in AC, but of course that's gonna take time. Thanks for watching again!
@@TDVision_U Being I’m not about to buy Revit... so in AutoCAD, when I see framing in layout, that was done with just cad lines arrayed along plate line? Also, I noticed you didn’t do a rafter seat cut (birds mouth) is that because it can’t be done in ACA or cause you just didn’t create it in the profile? Just trying to get a feel for what it can do when I get to cross sections. Thanks for your teaching. Ya have any openings in Jamaica for me. 40 yrs experience :)
😂 I would probably ask you the same thing. Most people want to leave Jamaica to pursue the American dream. You're a vet in the biz, hats off. So you can definitely do framing in AutoCAD. It's just that it cannot be automatically generated, like other BIM software. The birds mouth (or wall plate, as we call it in JM) can be modeled in 3D as well. I didn't do the birds mouth because of the level of detail I was modeling to. I would add those extra detail in the 2D elevation/section views. I'll probably do a video later on this.
@@TDVision_U Thanks Edward for the reply, yeah I’ve been using AC since it was first release back in 1982 I believe. I just started with AC Architecture recently just to keep up with the times. As many of the Architects I do work for use it. I go to their office and use there setup. So I need to stay well versed in it. Personally I use CA more for my work and for modeling and AC for actual cad work as I’m a lot faster in it than cad in CA. I wish one program would do all. I dabbled in Archicad for a trial period but at my age (69) to much of a learning curve. I’m semi retired and still do Cad cause I love doing it. Why I asked if there is room for me there. Ya know, new atmosphere. I get to Grand Cayman often cause I have a relative living there. Anyway, looking forward to following you with the four bedroom house. Cheers
Hi - going through all your tutorials here.... @16:54 you select the middle wall - I can not select it I can only select exterior walls... is there a trick to this?
I really appreciate these videos man. I do have a few questions though. - the exterior wall is brick, but the roof is modeled like its the top plate, wouldnt that cause a problem during building?
Thanks man. I'm not sure if I get your question... So the walls in this video are actually reinforced concrete block walls. I didn't not model a wall plate on top of the wall. However, the way the roof sits on the wall would be the same even with the wall plate. I hope that helped.
I get you...maybe that's how it's done in your country. So if you go to 1:41 in the video, you'll see a more detailed roof with the wall plate (see annotation under the eave). That 2"x4" board is the wall plate on which the rafters would birdsmouth on. That's how we do it in Jamaica. I didn't model the wall plate tho, since I only did a simplify version.
Hi!! I have different wall heights and different roof height, I'm having trouble using the command that extent the wall until the roof. There another way to do this?
Hey! The edit roof line command should work, like I did in the last part of this video. If you're trying to make the wall take the shape of a gable end roof, that's the best option. If it's towards the eave, then you can just give the wall a heigher base height.
Hello. This time I will have multiple questions. 1- copying the roof and creating new one with new fetures in here is like dublicate command in revit. So we keep original one and go on? 2-what is the purpose of "convert" command exactly? we use it in case of what? 3-I cancelled one of the roof part (after convert command we see four different masses) by mistake and did undo because I didnt know how to fix it as it was, without cancelling. So how can I add a missing mass of a roof in this respect?
1. Yes, you can copy one to the side and work on another design. Or you can have each design edition in another drawing/construct. 2. Converting the roof into roof slabs make it so that you can address each piece of the roof independently. More flexibility. 3. You could copy one from the other side of the roof and reshape/resize it. Or you can completely draw it from scratch using the ROOFSLABADD command. Thanks for your questions.

Create a regular roof slab/convert it/ delete all the faces except one/ change the slop to the angle you want/edit the vertex or corners to cover the building/then edit each edge - overhang, angle, etc... which is the part you'll have to figure out.
Good pace with clear instructions and great accent. Thank you.
