The bridge sections need to be removed to clear the channel and that's what they are doing.
with only one welding crew this will take a very long time ... why not have 10 crews ???

There is a lot of stored energy in that steel. If you cut the wrong place it could act like a giant spring and cause more damage or injuries to the Iron Workers.

The explosives are out of stock, and the Ukrainians can't get them. Excellent technicians can accurately cut steel beams with linear explosion. But Baltimore lacks such technicians, and there are many competent craftsmen who use welding torches to cut.
Maybe a tug can drag parts of the bridge away maybe several tugs do you think they’d have welders all over this anyway I guess they have to be careful can’t just cut and have stuff fall on them
