- Today we change the fuel filter on the 2nd Gen Dodge Ram cummins 12 valve. We talk about why we keep the old dodge around and some of the things we plan to do to it. We also show you some of the work involved in changing a fuel filter on an older diesel. 1994 Dodge Diesel
Little secret!!! Take the master cylinder off... 2 nuts and let it swing to the side. Tons of room now.
I'm the same as you! Not only are newer vehicles more expensive...when they do break (which is often on new diesels) that's much more expensive too. We have a 1990 Dodge d250 and 1993 Dodge w350 to work the farm. I wouldn't trade them for a new one if they offered one to me. haha Thanks for the video...love watching old trucks like mine get love.
New 2021 cost my uncle 77k. That's why I prefer these older cummins myself haha. Thanks for the video!
Yeah new vehicles are insanely pricey for sure, plus I love old stuff its more fun
Thanks for your video. I have a filter to change and this is a straight forward information to help me to start my project.
Glad you found it helpful
Thank you for showing how it’s done I appreciate itb
No problem, Glad it helped
Nothing wrong with keeping the old truck thank you!
We do enjoy the old truck and we also enjoy the ability to work on it for sure
Very helpful, gave me all the info i needed!
Glad we could help
Great job explaining looking forward to following your project thanks for the info
We have a lot of fun working on the old dodge, it has a ton of sentimental value also so its win win for us
I have a 3/4 1994 Dodge Ram we used for the farm. My dad gave it to me after he bought himself a new one later. After dealing with these newer cars I really appreciate these old vehicles. At least I’m able to halfway upkeep them😂
Yes this is why we are stacking up parts for the dodge as we find them, We plan to keep the old cummins running for many many more years
I’ve got a 94 3500 dually I’ve had since 97. About 220,000 miles. “Old Reliable”. Can’t see replacing it for $70-80,000 so I might as well choose the path you are on and fix the old girl up.
You can do a lot of fixing for the cost of a payment on a new truck, that's for sure!
My son spent almost $100K. Still under warranty and thank GOD it's being worked on at the dealers more than he drives it. I have a 1998 12 valve vehicle has 144k miles but the engine has only 21K miles. Didn't have a parameter got hot and blew number six cyl replaced with newly rebuilt long block. Basically new. It's a 4X4 and still gets 18 MPG. Not bad for a one ton dully .
I have nearly same exact truck except mine is a dully. :) Thank you for posting!
Glad it helped
If u said in the vid I missed it but what’s the part number for the wix fuel filter please and thank you
You're so lucky that it has the old first gen style filter, the second gen filter is a goddamn nightmare to change in comparison. I thought they changed it in 94 but guess they didn't do it right away.
Yeah, I had planned to relocate it as it was hard to access but with the hydro boost upgrade its pretty easy to get at
thanks for your info. I am looking for a bench seat to replace the two capt. seats...
Keep me posted on what you find, I am also thinking of a new seat just not sure what. Maybe a newer Dodge I need to look around
Bad ass clip thank you & will be subscribing boss
Thank You
Nice video. I just purchased a 94 3500 and am going to put her in storage soon, should I just bleed off the water before I store it?
1998 12v 2500 runs great
You have to love these 12 valves, the simplicity and power is amazing
Very helpful, only wish you had taken the camera down so we could see the plunger.
Go under the truck, very easy to see from the bottom looking up. 👌
Watced this vid 6 times trying to get my courage up! lol I c a sticker on yr motor 096 I have 143AB wonder what the difference is?
Good question, I can only assume it has something to do with build day or plant or something?
Does anyone know what thread size and pitch the drain valve is
On the filter itself? I switched to a filter with no hole in the bottom and it filters to a smaller micron. I will try and get the wix number later
I ended up using a WIX 33397 in place of the original spin on fuel filter
300000 it's just broke in
Watch the rest of the videos. We broke it in and out lol. It has a brand new Industrial Injection 12V in it now
Why keep it?! It is a TWELVE VALVE CUMMINS!!!!! DUUUUUH HAHA People who question you wanting to keep an old truck like that, don’t know shit. And FYI: if you have a 97 or 98 12 valve, those have a drop in filter NOT A filter like this one that just screws on like an oil filter.
We are stockpiling parts, Plan to keep this thing going as long as possible. Would like to think its the last truck I own lol
