Drive a Ghibli for five years now. It has been flawless. Wish I could have said that of the Audi’s (camshaft issues, timing belt tensioners , gear box etc…)I drove, would have saved me a lot of money….
me too in 2014 I bought a 2018 one, so far not 1 single thing apart regular maintenance. We can not complain, such long absence of issues in nowaday cars became a rarity.
I want to buy a Maserati ghibli between 2014-2016... What should I pay attention to when buying? Is there much difference between diesel and gasoline? I want gasoline but I'm also considering diesel... What do you think about this? Thank you
@@serkantektas5135 Make sure it doesn’t have a lot of miles on it. 2014-2016 was a long time ago and plenty of time to abuse a vehicle. Although a vehicle can be abused with barely any miles on it as well. If it had more than three owners I would avoid it, there’s a reason no one was holding onto it for long. People keep cars they enjoy for a while. Another thing, if you can get a hold of the service records see if anything major has broken and been fixed. This may sound odd, but hear me out, if nothing big has broken on it yet and it has over 100k miles, don’t buy it. Because it’s coming. That major repair. For the years you want, try to stay under maybe 75k miles. That way if it was taken care of well you’ll get a nice amount of driving out of it before you have to spend any big bucks on fixing anything. As far as diesel vs gas, I didn’t even know they had a diesel engine for the Ghibli. I had an A8L TDi and it was one of the best engines I’ve ever owned, so if a diesel is offered then you should get it.
First of all if you’re doing well financially you’d NEVER finance this car you’d lease it. Second, expensive cars come with expensive parts. Hence, why maintenance and repairs are so expensive. Third make sure the car has been properly maintained throughout its life. If you take care of your car then it’ll take care of you. It’s not a “Maserati isn’t reliable” issue, it’s a maintain your car issue.
Lease is a lot more expensive than purchasing especially the older models like 2016. In my area you can outright buy them for 17k while lease is almost 1k a month
Facts. I pay all the service that are recommended for my 2017 Ghibli. Just hit 70k and the next service is due at 75k and that will be just a bit over 2k Maserati recommends spark plugs at 75k so do the whole 75k service, that’s $2,100 (oil change, spark plugs, brake fluid, engine air filters, and A/C filter)
I strongly disagree. Just because a brand says their "luxury" does not make them luxury. Maintenance on a maserati is more than maintenance on my rolls. Maseratis are too needy. Maseratis are not expensive though so I disagree with your "expensive cars come with expensive parts" comment. You can buy a 3 year old Maserati Ghibli with 25K miles for 28K and lower in my area. That is not "expensive" imo.
Unlike a lot of people that are going to flood the comments section to repeat what Doug Demuro said years ago, i actually own one of these, and I enjoy it. My only advice is to get a warranty in the event something does fail. Otherwise, drive it and enjoy it. The Ghibli gets a bad rap, but honestly, they are good cars when taken care of and maintained properly. Alot of people buy these cars used because they're cheap and they want that trident badge but then they can't afford to maintain them. Lack of maintenance leads to the car becoming a headache and constantly breaking. Then they blame it on the car and maserati. They are not cheap to run but nowhere near as bad as the media likes to portray them. I have a 15 SQ4 with over 63k miles, and it's running strong. I do have the Maserati extended warranty in my back pocket in the event that something does wrong. Good luck with yours.
@vancelawhorn I have the Maserati extra10 warranty. It covers the drivetrain for unlimited mileage. You are able to purchase it every year up to 10 years. For example, if your car is a 2017, you can purchase the extra10 every year or in a lump sum of multiple years up to 2027. You can purchase it from any Maserati dealer. They do inspect the car and do a compression test to make the car is healthy before selling it to you.
Genuine filters can be bought for $35... don't know where you are going to get yours... sounds like you're going to the dealer. Aftermarket filters can be gotten for under $20.
Are you talking about aftermarket for Ferrari engines or... aftermarket for kia? Genuine question, im not really opposed to an 80$ filter if its a once a year oil change, which is whats recommended for full synthetic, which it would be...
The price of the oil filters makes more sense when you consider that they are comprised of virgin silk from the illusive "Yikes" spider, and hand-woven by fairies on "Sucker" island.
I have a 2014 Ghibli which I bought in 2017, best car I have ever had and driven, and I have had a lot. Yes servicing is expensive but aside from servicing all I've had done in 7 years is a new battery, one rear light cluster and tyres when required. If you buy an expensive car have as much as you've paid for it in the bank as spare cash, don't spend everything you have buying a car!
1: Oil changes are a luxury, do it yourself for less than 50% of the cost. 2: Bass at lower levels? Get an actually good sound system? Most cars dont have good factory radios. =T 3: Buttons from a dodge? You mean... a Chrysler vehicle has Chrysler vehicle parts? NO WAY!?
I have a 2017 Maserati Ghibli…..I had mine for five years and have 59,061 miles on it. I don’t drive it much, and I must agree with about about this car. They aren’t worth buying for real. You’re paying a lot because they’re made by the same people that makes Ferrari. Maserati, do not hold any value
5 year owner here. Knock on wood, it’s been much better than I expected. Only minor issues. Actually, so far more reliable than a Porsche Cayman and a couple of Mercedes SUVs.
Had a Ghibli 2020 for 2yrs never had a problem with it…I was constantly getting comments about how fabulous it was….Sad to see it go but life goes on…But I will never forget it..
As a maserati ghibli owner, and I agree with things that you have said but with the newer generation most issues have been addressed, but the winter on the summer tire thing is hilarious and thats true.
You should have realized that the parts price is the same or not more than ferrari parts..usually its a ferrari maserati dealer and labor rates are over 200 per hr...why did you think this was cheap to own? Go buy a hyundai if you want cheap...i have a levante with 37k on it and i figure ive put 6000 or 7000 into it to drive that far..i consider that normal for a vehicle of this calibre.
People talk about reliability but he didn’t mention any of that. People who buy these take care of them so what’s better? This one with regular maintenance or an Audi, Mercedes with little maintenance?
Bro if you have all season tires on an all wheel drive car that's obviously not what you want to slide around turns; of course the friction is going to catch. Or if you drive like a grandma n then try to hit a corner right without having tires used to hitting those angles. This car is amazing. Like dogs its the owner that needs training.
I have been watching Ghibli videos all day because I have been trying to get an idea of the perception before I sell mine. I have a 2014 SQ4 which I have had since 2016 and have a little under 90k miles on the clock, and had barely over 20k at the time I bought it. Maybe I got lucky, really really lucky, because I have had had NONE of the issues I see nearly every video mentioning and complaining about. I’m not even gonna sell mine I don’t think. I feel like I got a unicorn. I saw someone say they can’t get their Bluetooth to connect to their phone, mine connects every time, multiple devices at once. The only two things I agree with, one of which is not a complaint, and that is the buttons are cheap but I don’t really mind, at the time I got it I had never watched any videos on it so I didn’t have any expectations either way. Second, which is a complaint, is it doesn’t immediately shoot forward when I mash the gas. It feels like it builds for a second and then takes off, unless I’m up to speed already like on the freeway or something. I can’t speak on the cost of parts because I haven’t had any breakdowns yet. I know it’s coming, but so far so good. Oil changes are expensive compared to other luxury cars like Bimmers and Benzes, but I would suggest not even considering buying an exotic car, no matter how inexpensive it is, if the cost of maintenance scares you. You don’t need to have it done at a certified dealer tho, it’s not that complicated. You can spend maybe 150 on the oil and filter and then have a garage that is familiar with high end cars do the labor for around 300. Instead of 500 to 600 at the dealership. And you don’t have to get oil changes every few thousand miles. I have let mine go like 8 or 9 thousand miles between oil changes.
Yeah, honestly the only reason you need to get oil changes often is if you don't tol off your oil often. People buy a European car,and never take care of it and expect it to perform like a Japanese car, it's ridiculous. There's nothing wrong with your European car, it's just not a Japanese car, you actually have to take care of it. They aren't made to be bulletproof. And honestly why would you not do your own oil change lol, it's really not that bad.
Here’s the deal. Maserati are great cars. Problem is they are the entry level super car. Its budget buy. So yes parts and oil changes cost more. New buyers don’t get this so they never keep up with the vehicle. Hence 2nd hand owners end up with a car not taken care of. Get the warranty your fine. Worst car I owned was an Audi A6.

This guy said the the awd system is trash 😂, if you dont like to drive fast you shouldve just get an audi, maserati awd system is one of the best awd on the market for sport driving.
Technically it’s Chrysler crap they put in these, not Dodge. Personally, I would never own a Maserati…they are simply too unreliable and too expensive to maintain. That’s why the majority of these cars are leased. All but one model of Maserati’s lose between 50-67% of their value within the first 5 years. That is why you can pick one of these up so cheap. I’ve seen too many people wanting to look cool, rather then drive a reliable car with low maintenance costs. I’ll stick with my Lexus, but good luck to you and your wallet.
My Friend, You Are Awesome! yes... anyone can hate this car... but..... dat exhaust note tho... *drool*
So how do you fix the wheel rumble problem?
Get Michelin energy green dot and it will ride like silk guaranteed
Get winter tires.
Winter tires in the summer???
These guy is a clown !! Not credible !!
lol my guy was definitely in his dream feelings 😂
Ahhh yes, the cliche facepalm thumbnail.
I can tell you that these comments are quite superficial, I thought there was a real issue with them and its not.
La più bella auto lì parcheggiata indovina qual è?
3:22 looks like my 2019 Charger. Those buttons are straight outta dodge. 😬😬
if they put that body and interior on a toyota/ volvo platform, so the thing was reliable, they would have a winner.....but its not...
Thank you for this. Saved me a lot of money bro.
The Ghibli is a fantastic car.
How much for insurance?
I have no Problem
I don't have that problem they sound system sucks tho
Technically it’s Chrysler crap they put in these, not Dodge.
Personally, I would never own a Maserati…they are simply too unreliable and too expensive to maintain. That’s why the majority of these cars are leased. All but one model of Maserati’s lose between 50-67% of their value within the first 5 years. That is why you can pick one of these up so cheap.
I’ve seen too many people wanting to look cool, rather then drive a reliable car with low maintenance costs.
I’ll stick with my Lexus, but good luck to you and your wallet.
😂😂 one of the best channels on youtube
🐐
Well this is just a bad review lol. Sounds pretty mainstreamed for click bait. Wouldn’t watch any of your other vids 👎🏼
My Friend, You Are Awesome! Like You, I have Always loved the “Brand” with its rich and storied 3:59 History…From what You are saying and what I have read online, FIAT (I believe the Parent Company) is Drifting into its “Acronym”-“Fix It Again Tony.” Thank You for Helping Us “Car Lovers” Avoid so much “Heartach!” 🙏🙏🙏
Should have bought an AMG .
It's Italian. It's part of Italian quality
Such a funny video I can rrally tell how much this car has frustrated you but at the same time you keep it lol like a bad ex girlfriend that's a psycho but still hot.
I would never buy a 4WD car. And why are you hanging out with people who own Dodges?
bramptn boy baahgee?
Thanks bro😂😂
SAIS TU ROULER AU MOINS ?
Even the 2023 designs are bs
1. That piece on top of clock is ugly.
2. Sunroof still small same old 2014 style or older
3. Same old door handles that stick out too long on exterior.
4. Same old fat GMC keys
5. Cup holders still can’t hold regular size cups.
6. MPG same
7. Horsepower same
8. Dashboard design same
9. Exhaust sound still weak
10. Audio system still weak
11. Shifting gear knob still too large
12. Mirrors still don’t fold
13. Technology Innovation still weak
14. Overall no major redesign.
If mazerati wants more sales and respect then they should earn it by building a better quality brand. Redesign it.
My mallu bro, got ripped off. Not worth all that money.
Maserati has never made a reliable car in history!
Looks like he needs an old 90s Merc which is what he looks like he belongs in
Get educated about high-performance cars. You obviously do not KNOW well about Maserati's...
This is your dream car? Wtf mine is a Countach brah 😑
I bought my 2017 in a very weak moment April 2024 and regretted the hell out of it. A month later I decided to sell it so I figured what the F let's find out what this thing can do. Got her up to 130 with no problem and she was hungry for more (hit sixth gear at 120). Smooth as silk but I came off the gas for fear of an HP possibly up ahead. Still have the car.
2024 !!!
