I'm still thankful to Jim, way back in 2011 I was almost scammed out of 8000 USD. Apparently I was headhunted by a well off family in the UK as an aupair (I believed it cause they've claimed they were working with the legit company that I've registered with). After two weeks of talking with the "agency" and just about to have the money, I got an email from Jim telling me that he picked this up, oh how disappointed I was cos it was my life's dream at some point, but also amazed that someone would do something like that for a total stranger. You're still my hero up until today Jim 😶😶😶 ❤!!!
Jim: "If you're looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money... but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you."
Yeah, it seems like a weird mix to me as well: on one hand what they're doing is kinda technical, but I guess it's also specific and straightforward enough that it's not more complex than most basic office jobs.

Jim, that’s amazing work. You really were able to make an impact in the life of the scammed person. I have experience with Police in India and I think if you find such scammers henceforth, you should report them to the US embassy in India stating that these are mostly US citizens that are getting scammed. I’m sure that the US embassy in India, with its connections and with its heft, can make sure these criminals are brought to book. Just my 2 cents.

Sorry to hear about your grandma. I hope she's doing ok. These scammers can wreck someone's life saving. I worked with this old man, he was running the payroll at the company. He passed his retirement age but was still working at the company (he'd been working there for most of his adult like). One day he called me to his office to speak to someone on the phone, who supposedly didn't speak English and only spoke Spanish. My Spanish isn't perfect but I could tell straight away that the person on the other side of the phone wasn't Spanish (in fact, he spoke Spanish with a thick English accent). I hung up the phone and informed this old gentleman that the guy wasn't Spanish and that it was probably a scam he was running (at that stage, I wasn't aware that the old man was defrauded of more than 50k GBP. The scammers wanted more money before they will transfer 11 million Euros from the Spanish Lotery (I think it was called Onze). The sad part, this old man was paying more and more, in the hope of getting his winning prize (he was blinded by the hope that it was a legit thing). Sad to say that when he finally realised that it was a scam, he had a nervous breakdown and had to be sent into retirement. His health deteriorated pretty rapidly after that. I wish your grandmother all the best.

Jim, you are a HERO!! Keep up the good work! When you get in touch with the victims and save them from losing almost all of their hard earned money makes my heart smile! You are an absolutely amazing person!
I LOVED the reaction of the Best Buy employee. She's obviously someone who deals with similar incidents and has to talk on the phone with very upset people whom she most likely cannot help very much when the gift cards are already used.
Bestbuy lady: "So I searched our database for the purchase, is it about the -" Jim: "No actually the one above your cursor. You were hovering on it a second ago. And please don't play Pac-Man while you're talking to me!"
The work you do is absolutely priceless!! It is one thing for us scambaiters to waste the scammers time, but when you are able to help a victim get their money back, that is incredible!! Thank you so much for ALL you do!!
How there isn't an automatic flag on any giftcard purchase over $100 or something (or more than say 2 giftcards) that makes the website or check person say "btw no legit business would ever ask for gift cards, dummy" is beyond me.
There actually are big warning signs just above the gift cards at my local best buy. Looks like they're starting to realize there's something fishy going on
I was thinking the same thing. would've died if she said ok sir, i need you to go to walmart and buy new giftcards for the victim and we will refund you that money.

If I was the person scammed for those gift cards, I would contact him not only to say thanks personally, but also to make him a real gift!
delpinsky There’s just little incentive for the Indian police to do anything about it. Unlike something like Interpol we don’t have great interpolice connections between the western world and India. As well as that, it’s not their own people they are scamming, but people in foreign nations. Therefore there is little call for them to do anything about these crimes rather than the ones of their constituents. Politicians are unlikely to crack down on it until there is more pressure externally on it from foreign countries, but honestly it’s unlikely many foreign countries will do anything about it, because what they’d lose in foreign trade is much more than what the western politicians care about some old people being scammed who don’t realise their politicians even could do anything about it because they’re not tech savvy. It’s all just a terrible situation all around tbh.

Even if a fair amount of people coordinate to attack a scam centre, they will if they don't automate the process bring its income to a stop for a few days tops and then get bored of constantly calling, eventually getting remembered and instantly hung up on etc.
While it's an attempt to stop evil, I don't think the average person does much of anything that hinders the income of the center itself, especially if its one of the major ones.
Not really, they're all fake. He doesn't actually take down anything. Not a single IT professional watching this channel would believe what he is doing. The masses are fooled.
Even though Jim Browning is a different animal.. I still rather have scambaiters waste these Criminals time.. I don't care how childish it is it is still righteousness.. One less scammer time getting wasted equals to one less person getting scammed.. I know it's a bit childish but it's Righteousness... What Jim Browning is doing is amazing and It's wonderful that he takes down all these Criminals with precision and with maturity..
