I managed to bail my mother-in-law out of a refund scam of $8,000 just minutes ago...a lot of this is thanks to your videos. As soon as she said anydesk and target gift cards...I knew she had been gotten. They "Over-refunded" her...I feel like your channel and my knowledge of it now managed to save her bank account just in time. I'm lucky she reached to me first.
I'm still confused? Do the scammers really "over-refund" or do they just make it look like it?? Because if I don't have an extra $2700 in my account. Then I couldn't buy that amount in gift cards.
@@yrp237 It depends on the scam. If they get access to your bank then yes they can transfer money. If it's a refund scam, they alter the HTML code to make it look like they gave you too much money and ask you to go get gift cards usually and give them the codes on the gift cards.

That’s why they push for a computer, anydesk/ultraviewer, and a bank account. They’ll alter the HTML to make it seem like they sent too much but in reality they don’t send anything . Sometimes they’ll transfer between your accounts if you don’t have enough in your checking. For example; they’ll transfer from savings to checking, edit the HTML, trick you into thinking they overpaid you, then send you to get gift cards or wire transfer or whatever. Now you’re out x amount of money that was never transferred from them in the first place.
As a retired LEO after 30+yrs working, I thank you for this. We had stopped grifters and con artist scammers long before the electronic world and this is really out of control. Thank you again, nice work,

I worked for a bank in Australia doing outbound calls. My boss wouldn’t hire anyone with an Indian accent because no one would talk to them and they just got heaps of abuse because of these scam calls.
