    Lyle interviews are so easy, just ask him a broad question and wait 20 minutes

    How have I missed this guy till now?! I started keto and after 2 weeks moved to high protein low carb with daily weight training. My girlfriend fights me cause I want us both down another 30lbs before we add cardio in. (Not counting walking) We ended up with this program because I read a ton of studies and it's working. We are both down about 40lbs and I am up about 14lbs lean mass after 3 months. This man is the messiah I didn't know was out there!

      what category were you? did you do free meals? how many cals a day on the free meal days?

    • @Antigone10
      @Antigone10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @jeffreyfernald I never did a free meal day and just stuck to my calorie limit. I'm down 90lbs and eating a ton now to stop the weight loss. If she or I ate more calories one day, we would make it up by eating less or walking more later. I ended up about 222lbs and eat about 5,000 calories a day now but I did walking further and further until I got up to 23,000 steps a day plus weight lifting every morning. Now that I don't want to lose anymore weight, I've cut the steps back to 17,000 and dialed the calories up with protein being my largest macro and fiber pretty high. We dialed up the lifting intensity too as I want to try and add more muscle.

    • @Antigone10
      @Antigone10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @jeffreyfernald My isolcaloric at the time of the original comment was about 3,800 calories with no walking so I was eating about 3,300 to 3,500 for weight loss. Now, eating about 5,000 calories a day makes me sick lol. Especially trying to keep fiber and protein high. Donuts are my friend again but only around weight lifting sessions to replenish muscle glycogen faster.

      5000kcal/d maintenance now?! Are you now lean 220-230lbs?! Are you 6'6" or something? High FFMI? Amazing!

    • @Antigone10
      @Antigone10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mcfarvo 6ft 4 so that's a big part of it. My 5ft 2 girlfriend hates how different our portions need to be. 😀 Justed tested bodyfat again and my bulk has me at 14% bodyfat at 235lbs right now. I burn about 700 calories lifting for about 2hrs each day. I tend to burn 2,500 being alive and moving a bit. The rest comes from steps and the bag I usually carry that weighs 20 to 40lbs depending on the day.

    • @Dad_Brad
      @Dad_Brad 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Last I remember it’s hard to say and Lyle definitely has spoken about that question. I personally find that after losing 40-45 lbs and keeping it off for 17 years, I get away with murdering myself for extended periods (over-feeding) and still weigh close to the same.

    • @XTheSpartanX7
      @XTheSpartanX7 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Dad_Brad I have also experienced this. Lost about 60 lbs and then maintained it for 5 years and now I can splurge quite often and my weight stays the same. Have to be careful not to go off the deep end because I used to be an emotional eater.

    • @Dad_Brad
      @Dad_Brad 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@XTheSpartanX7 I understand the emotional part. I often “stress eat.” On the flip side when I’m excited about a person or event I can train non-stop and eat extremely rigidly for long periods.

    • @MrGflan
      @MrGflan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It’s so true about maintenance. I can work like a monk in my deficit and do awesome. I lose weight well, even now. If you told me to do a diet break at maintenance I wouldn’t be able to do it as prescribed. Oh, go and have 150 more carbs. So I can have another cup of rice or cereal and that’s it? It’s just not easy for me at all. In fact, even refeed days can be rough. I would rather stick to the plan than get italian food or whatever. Oh, eat one slice of pizza. Are you kidding? Lol

    • @Dad_Brad
      @Dad_Brad 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrGflan yep., I think it’s that way for many of us. It’s easier just to take EC to eliminate hunger, but that only lasts 2 weeks max. I know this isn’t advice that your asking me for, but cycling EC for 2 weeks during periods where you struggle with calorie control could be helpful.
