"Tell Me If You Still Care" is a classic R&B/soul song by The S.O.S. Band, a group formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1977. The song was released in 1983 as part of their fourth studio album, "On the Rise."
The S.O.S. Band gained prominence in the 1980s with their fusion of funk, soul, and electronic music. "Tell Me If You Still Care" showcases their signature sound, featuring a combination of smooth vocals, synthesizers, and funky basslines.
The song's lyrics express the sentiment of longing and uncertainty in a relationship, with the singer pleading for reassurance from their partner. It explores themes of love, communication, and vulnerability, which resonated with audiences and contributed to the song's popularity.
"Tell Me If You Still Care" was a commercial success, reaching the top ten on the Billboard R&B chart and gaining widespread acclaim from both fans and critics. It has since become one of The S.O.S. Band's most beloved and enduring hits, remaining a staple on R&B playlists and radio stations.

Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis were in The Time & Prince told all of his artists they couldn't work w/anything or anyone. Jimmy & Terry snuck to Atlanta to work on S.O.S. Band's album & thought they could get back to Minneapolis before Prince found out, but the ATL had a freak snow storm & couldn't make it back in time. Prince fired them immediately. This was just the fuel they needed, bc they were like NOW WE HAVE TO MAKE THIS $HIT WORK. Look what we would have missed. That is crazy. They are 1 of the top 5 producers, songwriters ever.

It was the best music business decision since AC/DC hired Brian Johnson. And since Metallica hired Cliff Burton. And then hired Jason Newstead, and then hired Robin Trujillo… I’m trying to say they’ve had a lot of bassists lol. Also rest in peace Cliff Burton

This is the first time I've heard this song. I remember hearing about the S.O.S. Band back in the day but I never listened to them. I was a "rocker". As I got older I expanded my music listening. As I was listening to this song I was thinking, how many children were conceived because of this song? The music also reminded me of a group I haven't listened to for a long time but listened to them a lot in the past, that group is Fourplay.

That distinctive intro is featured on a mix of Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby." Other S.O.S. Band songs include "The Finest," and "Weekend Girl." Some songs to consider by other acts: "Don't Stop The Music" - Yarbrough & Peoples, "Hangin' On A String" - Loose Ends, and "Why You Treat Me So Bad" - Club Nouveau.

I had this one on an old mixed tape of love songs that I used to play on the rare occasion when I got lucky in my college days. I wish I still had the tape and those days back. Great song! It brings back some really good memories.

Love this vibe. ❤ Let’s slow dance! The sensual vibe reminded me of the lovely Sade ( Is It A Crime?)
That bass made me think of the Brothers Johnson. We love “ Stomp”!❤

The funk bands of the 70's and 80's cannot be funked with. Monster sounds and 'sic' basslines were their hallmarks. Gentleman, react to Parliament's 'Big Bang Theory" and put some hump in your rump......

Same here. I’m 52 (will be 53 in Dec) and I REMEMBER THIS SONG. The radio, the skating rink, family parties. It was a POPULAR song in the early 80’s. Maybe the older brothas were living abroad @ the time?✌🏽
