It is a great axe had mine for years, I have the Gransfors Bruks Scandinavian forest axe also packed them both many times and they are not that far apart in cutting fire wood, the cut isn't as deep with the Bushman but buddy it is not far off. Wonderful splitter also
Alot nicer than the HB I just bought. Glad you got a nice one! If I cant get mine replaced I will get a refund & get a wetterlings for sure. The hole in the end is from mounting on the lathe.
I opened the amazon gift card to get the $70 gift card. I got it for $100 so I think its worth that much. I don't think I would have paid full price. Sorry to hear about the HB. What was wrong with it?
the little hole on the back of the handle is when they made the handle . the machine fix the wood with spike and made the form of the handle .. the piece of wood turn very fast and a blade sculpt the piece
got mine today man .mine has a brown streak in the wood .I had it out today it did well choping tried some feather sticks and it needs to be a little sharper for that . then I sunk it into big ash log and noticed a wiggle in the handle . have you noticed a wiggle in yours?
I dont have a wiggle in the handle. I was splitting some oak yesterday. I did dent the handle so I may need to add one of those metal guards just below the axe head.
Bill Evans That brown streak in the helve is heartwood they've used a helve with sap and heartwood in this axe on the video is the same, won't harm but your better with one or the other, that's the problem with ordering online you don't get to pick your own!

The hole is from a small nail when they hang the Handel upside down to varnish it.

The helve isn't made from heartwood it got sap wood running through it too!
