- A tribute to the beauty and culture of Greenland, Denmark, The Faroe Islands, Sweden, Finland including Åland, and Norway... including Svalbard, Jan Mayen, and the traditional territories of the indigenous Sami people. (The flag I display for Svalbard and Jan Meyen is not at all official.. it was simply a proposed flag. These islands usually display the Norwegian flag, as they are part of Norway, but I wanted to create a distinction for the purpose of the organization of this video.)

This Video is about a beautiful part of the world. I do not want the comment section to be filled with debates about what is Scandinavian, what is Nordic, whether the Finns were viking and so on. It makes me sad to see such arguments.
I´m Swedish but I have to say.. there is little competition once you hit Norway on the list. One glimpse at the nature in Norway and you feel the adventure of the world ahead of you, just so breathtaking and inspirational and recharging for the mind to behold. But we do, all of us on the list, live in beautiful lands indeed.

The scandinavian countries + Finland, Iceland and The Faroe Islands should leave EU, and make their own union, the union of scandinavia.

+KD Do Hm, hur mäktigt var Sverige egentligen i världen? Tror inte så många brydde sig då heller, tyvärr.
Ever since I was a child, people would ask why I was crying, and my nanny would have explain that it was my emotional response to beauty. I sit and paint by my local river, sometimes a kingfisher will perch within arms reach, just to watch. A Heron will stand in the water and pose in the water for me. They are normally very shy. I was told by my master, to paint a tree growing up from sapling. Wow! better than TV! so much drama! I saw a wren's nest washed away. The tree died of a broken heart!
Nordic countries are so incredibly beautiful. They forests, rivers, mountains, cultures, languages and traditions. They rich and heroic histories.
I wish that one day i can travel all of these countries and see all that beauty by my own eyes.

A few years ago, I had the fortune of doing just that. I had to go to Norway for a 12 week business trip. It altered my life in a profound way. I love America, there is no country like it on earth, but there is such beauty and stunning scenery than the Northern countries. Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are breath taking. And the way of life is so much more satisfying. No McDonalds on every street corner, no strip malls, no Starbucks. Just real food and real people.

I am from Greece. Scandinavia, and all of northern Europe I find to be the most beautiful place on Earth! I plan on moving there one day if I can! I love Nordic languages, traditions and mythology.
Once there was a guy from Norway who told me that people in Nordic countries are looking down on other people who say they love Nordic mythology cause they don't have Nordic blood in them. I didn't believe him. How could people with such a wonderful mythology be so narrow-minded? I love North anyway.

Finish language is from an entirely different language family but have been heavily influenced by scandinavian(and the otherway around as well)!
So in a way finish and even estonian IS somewhat related to scandinavian!
Geografically(sort of) it´s a norse language!

And yes, I know that the Sami are a stateless nation... that's why I took care to specify "The traditional territories of the indigenous Sami people" And, if you'll notice, most of the pictures in that section are pictures depicting various aspects of their culture.

It is. Finland isn't part of Scandinavia (Sweden, Norway, Denmark) but Fenno-scandinavia (or Fennoscandia) is one of the terms you can call the region which includes Sweden, Norway and Finland, but not Iceland or Denmark. To address all countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland), it's best to use the term Nordic countries. Hope this clarified things even a little.

it can't ofcourse be proven but it is said in some norse sagas that norrway was after norri somekindof prince or kalevanpoika wich had properties in norway and Denmark after a kalevanpoika named Dani that's what is said in some saga i'm not sure wich thought.
Almost everything you have written in this comment is accurate. The only problem in your logic is that the "Germanic proto language" is Old Norse, and Danish and Swedish come from it too (although from a different, eastern branch of it). Yes, Norwegian is in between Faroese and Danish. Nynorsk has a bit more in common with Faroese than Bokmaal has. But all of these languages are more closely related to each other, through Old Norse, than they are with modern German.

Very nice video and music. But Svalbard (I Live there), and Jan Mayen has the Norwegian flag, not its own flag. The same goes for Bouve Island (south Atlantic), and Lars Island (South Pacific).
