say what you will - this was a dope trailer, and decent movie. i mean, paul verhoven thrives on tasteless entertainment (total recall, starship troopers).
This movie was lighting in bottle, I mean every a list movie star turned it down, and it became sharon stone biggest claim to flame.and then after this movie everyone woman wanted to play in someway catherine tramell
And in fairness Jan De Bont's cinematography is great to look at as always, I liked "Speed" and sort of enjoyed "Twister" but his work since indicates directing maybe isn't his true calling. And given what she had to work with Sharon Stone does turn in one of her few memorable performance in a role that could have been unplayable. And Jerry Goldsmith's music score was good, he's one of my faves. And I will probably rent the sequel even though the word wasn't good on it.
@haleyteddy03 Yeah, many A-listers of the time turned down the part cause they were afraid of their "reputation"! lol Sharon Stone had nothing to lose. The film -although controversial- became a huge hit, Stone became a star and the rest is history.
i know, right?! i'm currently watching it on paramount+ and so far, it's a great movie! i don't recommend people who are easily sensitive to inappropriate violence to watch it though.
I don't think she looks bad for her age, then or now. Her real problem is unless Martin Scorsese directs her, she's not capable of good dramatic acting from what I've seen of her work.
Glad this is back, love the trailer! The film I don't much care for, without the sex scenes its not very interesting. "Sea of Love" did this a hundred betters and Brian de Palma does a better job with his Hitchcock imitations and "Body Double" was way cooler and smuttier than this, hee hee! If almost as brainless. Thanks for posting!
So I keep hearing, but Sharon did get a huge paycheck for it, so she got something out of it. Maybe if David Cronenberg hadn't dropped out, the film might have worked but oh well.
I'm sure if I caught this when I was 16 yeah I probably would have dug it. I saw it again on cable not too long ago and it just leaves cold. But yes that nightclub bit is great, Paul has a fetish for using them for his films, why not? If I remember at the time Paul in an interview said this was a kind of Hitchcock hommage. so that planted the idea in my head. So when I see it, I make the comparisons and I'm like no Paul, your ok but your not Hitch. Oh if you want to add it, cool,, hee hee!
You mean the guy at the start of the film? She knew that Nick (Douglas) would end up investigating the murder. She needed a reason to get closer to him in order to research the new novel she was writing about "a detective who falls for the wrong woman". Typical psychopath behavior.
The Don't F**k With Cats viewers are about to flood in
One of my all time favorite movies. I have it on VHS

Basic Instank (In Living Color skit) should have been the sequel! 🤣 "Victoria's Secretions"

Coming on 4k ultra HD June 16
Who is here after the Netflix serie; don’t fuck with Cats
It was too late, making a sequel 15 years later.
Oh yes, making belated sequels to classics are hard enough, but a film like this has a short shelf life.

Basic Instinct 2 was awful in comparison to this. 😂😂 Some sequels just shouldn't be made. Basic Instinct was a very good film, the sequel wasn't.
the name of song
LaTour - Blue
The audience has a basic instinct, and the movie producers know it.
barely saw this movie yesterday and OH MY GOODNESS it was Fucken HOT like DAMN,
why did she kill that guy?🤷

I really didn’t mean to click on this but...:.
Baby, AIA
this movie is basically a porno
@premier6666 neuman ftmfw
Very atractive subject but i think that Sharon and Michael dont match and their performance is overreacted. It makes you feel like watching a porno.
in my bed i hope :-)
This movie is pretty good. By the way, people tell me i'm devastatingly good looking
U'r ugly as fuck.
You must be rotting in jail by now..
This movie is wrong
Stone was far too old for the sequel. She was already old in the first film, so it's hardly surprising that her "stardom" lasted all of five minutes.
Of course only 20 year olds are sexy. You must be an old man.
