As the owner of a ‘13 that has seen numerous massive upgrades inspired by and taught from this car, it will hold a warm place in my heart. Thanks for the inspiration and the motivation. My steering rack, STI steering knuckle, suspension, and 255/35 18s thank you for it. Watching you build this car has taught me probably half of what I know about this generation of cars. Apologies I never filmed much with it, was nice to just be able to enjoy one without filming all the time 💔 Once the blue STI is back up and good to go we will be out alot with it. That's the entire point of that one. Most of the time the wrx was the only running car so couldn't afford the down time with it if something were to have happen.
You HATE to see it, but you LOVE to see it. Also I thought it was pretty neat seeing the pressure plate flexing in the time lapse while you were installing it. And also seeing the coolant making in sync waves while trying to start the car. Pretty interesting stuff.
RE: your codes - ground straps. Did the same thing to me. I had galvanized ground straps from connecting them over the aluminum on the aftermarket undertray. That, and I never reconnected the ground on the transmission. Also, there’s the notorious wiring harness issue on Cyl 1/3 that was resolved after a Service Bulletin at Subaru. My guess is a little of both most likely. It was a bad few weeks sorting it out.
@@Smeedia My biggest issues came from the bulkhead side. That said, I did the harness wire repair ahead of further troubleshoot. It wasn't until I got underneath the car and LOOKED at the straps, seeing them so badly galvanized did I fully understand the problem, I was getting misfires, I was getting ECU Comm failure codes, I was having difficulty getting the car to initially crank... I just made sure the straps underneath were completely replaced and strapped to bare metal before the aluminum piece was put into place on those bolt. Instantly resolved the CELs and driveability. Kinda disappointed you didn't go a little further with it; would have loved to have given back to the community for at the time you've helped.
New to the channel cause my future project once I get a house is a EZ36 in my legacy. I hope this back to stock hatch is a great investment for your flat 6 sti

@@Smeedia It feels better than a stock VA, but in both cases the stock tunes fell on their face. A 93/E30 tune on the VB is night and day difference thats NEEDED lol. Granted you are used to much more power these days lol.
I swapped my hatch over to 6sp and brembos, after you did yours. Got bawlzy enough and we swapped our 05 legacy gt to 06 sti 6sp too. Sad to see this go
This is sad to watch, I'll give yah the thumbs cause of the work you put in but damn kid!! That was a used longblock, who knows how long it sat and how well it ran during its last use.
@Konformation07 I feel like this is mostly due to the none age on the cars. I work at a subaru dealer and semi regularly see moded va wrxs with broken transmissions. The design didn't change at all to the vb. In fact, I'd argue the increased torque down low on the 2.4 will cause issues sooner than what we would expect on a fa20

Quick question, this could well really help me out soon. To remove the intake manifold, ‘04 FSTI, do you actually need to remove the AC compressor and PS pump?? Only asking as you’ve fitted and removed this one quite a few times.
That sucks. Any chance you have the diagnostic green plug, pluged in? Its in passenger side kick panel. My 07 outback xt wouldnt start and had random codes. And i come to find out that plug needs to be unplug. It runs great now. I guess i acciendenty pluged it when i was replacecing the dash. -sage

How much do you think it would cost to replace an wrx engine minus the long block? Been looking into it with a iag 550/750 long block but don't know how much I should expect to pay. Don't want any crazy mods right away just a more reliable engine that I can mod in the future.
@@Smeedia Not currently, hoping I can get another year out of my engine Its been taken care of and not beaten but it has 89k on it. It is modded which is the only reason I have worries but they aren't cheap mods. So I have been looking into it. But also need to decide what block because I wouldn't mind being able to push higher hp out of the engine but also at the same point don't want to throw 25-30k at it when it is the 2013 wagon and I could buy something newer without a working engine and just replace that. I do love how they look tho.

Comp tested it, verified timing, and fixed the little issue with it. Seems like there was some electrical/ecm issue that it had

You should REALLY keep that 6 speed for the vb. Youll make so much power so easily. The stock split case 6 speed will not take it for long
Heard the stock case is only good up to about 400wtq 😅

The 08+ wrx/sti dose not have the diagnostic connector. Only 02-07, kinda acted like it was in test mode though
