I just bought a '24 non live valve R yesterday. Originally planned to buy an X but look of the R won me over. That extra 4" inches of width and 2.6 inches of wheelbase might be a small issue a couple of times a year, even on these narrow winding trails here in WV, but that awesome looking wider longer stance makes me smile every time I look at it.
Well said. Thats basically the same reason I got a 1000R. Oh and the color. We just came back from WV. Was awesome down there. Had 2 miles on the machine when I went down there to ride. What WV trail systems do you ride?
@@sideshowguys I'm 64 yrs old, been trail riding since grade school and I live about 45 minutes from Ivy Branch. I've never even been on a H&M trail. Nearly all of the trails we've been riding for the last 50+ years have houses on them or are blocked off now so my brother and I are going to start hitting the H&M trails, maybe this weekend if he gets a belt on his Polaris. *snicker*
@@kogo2951 that’s awesome. We are luck here in the part of Ontario we live in there are lots of trails within a few hours of us. We just got back from riding H&M trails. It is awesome riding there. Bug that Polaris guy to get that rubber band fix and get out on those H&M trails. There are some of the best trails I have been on. You will have to let me know what you think of them.
Got my 2023 1000 R last week with non live shocks. Sure wish my doors looked like yours. Mine have the opening and Honda no longer sells the insert. Any suggestions on the best aftermarket ones, anyone? But love the wider stance and the longer wheelbase and the shock travel.
I got a 23 live value and I’m loving it. The live valve is a game changer imho. It makes drifting, hard corners and square edges a breeze. Mines bone stock except for a uni pre filter in the air box.
I agree with you. The suspension on the live valve is so much better. I did the uni filter in the airbox for a bit. Then I added a snorkel and stock filter lasts much longer.
Nice looking rig , i just sold my 2011 rzr 800s and might be looking at a higher mileage 2016 rzr 900s thats in Quebec on sunday . I can only dream of having a new machine at the prices they want for them
Thanks. A new machine is a big purchase these days and is not for everyone. I normally buy used machine to save a few bucks. All that really matters is you get a machine that is right for you and you get out on the trails for some fun.
Good question. I have been giving that a lot of thought. Have not came up with a great option yet. The SAUTVS one is nice. But you have to open it to use the switches. I am sure I will make a decision soon and do an install video.
@@markflaugh2293 lol. Thats my other option I have been looking at. Just have to make a decision. But have to buy a few other things first. Stay tuned to the channel and see what’s next. lol.
Never really checked out the inside of a General. Might have to check one out next time there is one on a ride with us. Never had an issue with my gated shifter. But I guess it could happen.
Mines 2023 but doors still open at bottom but everything else is same as yours and no cup holders in doors either tonic yellow color is mine very strange bought mine few weeks ago
2023 Honda had kinda two trim levels. I think it was because of the lack of parts. They made 2023 Talon 1000R and X in a S trim or model. These had the updated front ends but not the updated doors. Kinda like a 22/23 model. Confusing I know. I do like the yellow color tho. How are you liking the machine now?
My last machine was a 2019 talon 1000x. I wanted a 1000R. But they don’t sell them in Canada. So this time I got the 1000R out of the USA. I knew there was a bit of a back log on them. But didn’t know they were labeling 24 as 22. But there has been some crazy times the last few years.
In the beginning of the video you said the 19, 20, 21, 22 are all the same. Then you said the 22, 23, 24 are all the same. So is the 22 actually the same as the 19- 21 or is it the same as the 23 and 24?
2022 was a bit of a messed up year for the Talon. Parts shortages. They had 1000X and 1000R in a S package which looked the same as the 2019-2021. But they also had the 1000x and 1000R which had the updated front grill etc. So kinda a mid year up date.
Think the Honda Talon was out before the Rmax. So who is copying who? Lol. Honda did increase the roll cage tubing thickness on the 2023. I step in the right direction. But very few stock cages will hold up to a good hit. Be fine if all machines came with a good cage.
Love me a Honda. I know its a performer without a doubt but to me they seem to be lacking in the "extras" department. That being said, its arguably also a good thing with the price creep on these things now as well as being more simple to work on.
Honda has finally started to come out with a few more add ons for a price $$$. But nothing compared to Can ams accessories book. I would be broke before I got everything I wanted on a Can am. lol. When we getting out for a ride? Need some video of you behind the wheel of a Talon.
That’s all true. I knew I missed a few details. I forgot about the S models. One of the best improvements with the gas pedal is not as touchy as my 2019. It’s good to see Honda updating more than the colors and stickers like most of their line up. Lol
I believe that term can apply to all sxs. The powersports industries made a gold mine when they started making these things not near as tough as a quad.@@sideshowguys

My 23 1000r live valve noisy when shifting like something is going to break my first dct though
The shifting noise is a bit loud but yes it is normal. It gets a bit better over time.
@@sideshowguysyea mine does that too. A loud clicking, not quite a bang. Was told that’s normal, a solid solenoid actuator sound.
