That Kawasaki was definitely the winner. The Yamaha came second with the Honda a close 3rd. But, driver experience and tire size made a difference. I'm still getting the Yamaha YXZ1000. I love that little beast.
Have a stock 2021 YXZ SS SE and did some crawling this past weekend for its first time out. They do far better than most would believe. It’s just takes a different kind of driving style.
I always bought Honda’s based the legendary durability. Never let me down. So far. I have never had a major repair. While my buddies are replacing a arms, belts. Clutches. Not saying they are indestructible or the best in every situation. But I have gone places on stock setups that $40000 razors and $35,000 can-am rigs can go. Other than deep mud pits because those guys are on 33’s and 34’s with extended a-arms and portals. Rock climbing, mud parks. Barely changed the oil in my rigs. Those guys are replacing every fluid after every trip.
I believe he said one of these had a gear reduction, and they have different tires and tire sizes. You cannot have a fair comparison of these three rigs under those conditions. Only way to compare these fairly and the right way is to have all three stock with the same size and type of tire on them. Doing it this way just doesn't bring a fair or level playing field.
The suspension on the Krx is fairly impressive and helped a lot. Plus the locker that only the talon doesn’t have in this group.....yes I own a talon, I would go rmax or maybe krx next.
Man I rode Windrock thanksgiving weekend and saw several rzrs do worse. Trail 15 was in bad shape. Yxz did really well just made the mistake of doing it along side a rig running Zillas. Enjoyed the video.
Pretty sure he was running to much air pressure. We talked about it after the ride but I could see the tires bouncing off rock with no give what so ever.
I spent 40 years doing this stuff,,, love watching but it was painful to see the vehicles strained in some of the sections. I’m too old to work on them(ha). The Kaw seemed to have the tire pressure about right, while the other two appeared to be running higher air pressure than I would have expected.
I enjoy your videos and channel. The content is entertaining and unbiased towards one brand or another. Yes you like your Yamaha, but when you see another brand doing well on an obstacle you call it the way it is. I also appreciate the recording and editing styles, the viewer gets the highlights of the ride and a nice blend of trail footage. You get to follow a group of guys with some nice machines out having fun, no product placement, no fluff just a ride in the mountains. Headed back to WR over the new year maybe we will cross paths! Keep up the good work!
Agree. kawi is very impressive but i would like to see all machine on same times/size and see if that was the difference. Also maybe same rider to eliminate skill variable. Good stuff.
The yxz actually did great with the smallest tires of the group it has a great locker and works well. The krx was king with the long travel, long wheelbase ,big tires and great locker..The honda is lite and has good low range but suffers some with its front dif...I look for it to evolve as the yxz has to improve that with time..Really not a bad machine in the group...Great video! No hate here! The competition is good in the sxs market..
I have a pioneer 1000 5 deluxe, and ride with a talon and other brands. I’m not a fan of the intelligent 4 wheel drive. Where I have to manually change mine, I have all wheel diff lock when I want it, not when the machine decides I want it. I didn’t buy the limited edition pioneer because it has the i4 wd. My pioneer is more utility than these machines, but I go pretty much anywhere they go. Only the very worst of spots I have to bypass. Just thought I would throw in my take on the i4 wd that the talon and pioneer Le have.
Keith great job as always loved all the rigs. I think that KRX is going to give Carson and Bailey a run for their money. Take care fellas and stay safe 👍👍
Great video as usual, just wish the match up was more of a apples to apples comparison. YXZ needs talent to be driven in those conditions, which you drive it very well. 35" vs 32" the 35s have an advantage right off the rip!
Yeah when you put it that way I agree would have been a little more interesting if the krx was running 32s but keep in mind we aren’t professional video makers and we had all 3 Japanese rigs together so I figured what the hell let’s have fun with it. lol. I appreciate your comment.

I love how you show each machine on the same challenges at different angles but about the same for each machine. Just what I wanted to see, only wish you had a yamaha Rmax1000 doing the same stuff. Looking pretty hard at the Rmax1000, after this video not at all interested in the Talon anymore. Getting more interested in the Kawasaki krx now, thanks! How is the Kawasaki holding up, does it seem to have any problems with the clutch or the belt?
Been trying to decide between the Talon and KRX for months. My mind is now made up. Would like to see the drivers switch machines and see how it goes. Talon driver is a little throttle shy I think. I’d say those 35’s make a big difference too.
If it were me I’d go KRX for sure but with it’s longer wheel base you kinda have to go with 35” tires to get the extra ground clearance. Allen driving the Talon doesn’t ride with us often but who knows me and Aaron might swap machines for an obstacle one day but I’m afraid he might blow my clutch.. lol
I love watching machines being put through their paces like that but I would never ride my own machine on type of terrain. I break enough parts as it is trail riding.
Interesting video to watch. The yxz did a good job using its strengths so did the krx. Hate it for the talon but I bet he’s wishing for another go at this one. Really good video guys.
Great video guys I think all the machines are all equally matched with the right tire setup carnivores an qboss 846 tires would have ran best up that trail I know cause that's what I use on my two sxs an I've walked right up that without no issues
Fun video but I think if the guy in the Honda would have let some air out of his tires to get better grip he would have walked all over that place just like the first guy. Try it....it works. If you look his tires are way to hard.
I own a Talon with the 32'' xtr370s and I can assure you they do better than this, 1. this guy cant drive to save his life and 2. way too much air in those tires. Literally made the Talon look weak as hell. Very poor example of what a Talon is capable of. The krx was right on point, those things are awesome.
@@tcboffroad3206 Yeah there is just something about a yxz. I have a 2020 XT-R and want to run bigger tires (30's or 32's). I have stock gearing but from what i have read, it is already lower than previous years. What do you suggest for tire size and gearing? I do alot of trail/muddy riding conditions.
Honestly the lower gearing in the newer models was mainly to make up for the larger tires. Newer models with the lower gearing but bigger tires isn’t much different than older models with 27” tires. I went with 32” tires straight from the dealer and the lower 19 gearing wasn’t close to being low enough with the 32s. If ur wanting to go bigger tires I’d recommend some type of reduction.
I went full 70/30/15. 32” rockabillys only measure 30 1/2” so rubs when compressed hard but just on 911 fender flares plus the rockabillys are light only weighing 37 pounds.
so, are you guys thinking of switching to some other make than Yamaha? I'm buying a brand new xtr next week. I live in the desert and have some ravines to go down into and all but just dry. This will be my first utv, so I want to get the best one. The great Yamaha engine and an actual transmission have my interest for sure. So, what are you all going to switch to?
Even with a good driver, the yxz doesn't make technical trails look easy. Krx makes everything TOO easy, lol. No one knows how much more work it is with a yxz until they've driven one on trails like this. Good job. Ever any blown diffs or axles on 32s? I have 30s with a 70/30 ss, need more clearance for sure.
I’m running rhino 2.0 axles so far just broke one but have blown 4 front diffs. Currently running a billet carrier with 4 billet spider gears so hoping that will fix the front diff issues. I’ve got a short vid on the carrier if that’s something your interested in upgrading on your YXZ.

Obviously I love my YXZ but I’ve had to make several mods to get it where I want it. If your riding mountain type areas you’ll probably need to go with 70/30 gear reduction to make it more suitable for that type of riding.
YXZ: Send it! Talon: Don't wanna scratch the chrome. KRX: I thought you guys said there would be some challenging trails?
Right? Lol. Kept letting off the gas and letting that fat ass krx show him up.
I feel bad for that talon, little less air and a little more driver 😂
Yup, Talon driver let off the throttle way too early rather than trusting the machine and himself and just sending it.

If you’ll be climbing steep hills RMAX or Talon would be good due to the zip but technical it’s hard to beat the KRX.
@@tcboffroad3206 K thx for your reply. Apart from the size of the vehicles, do you think an YXZ can do the same what my Grizzly can do?
@@ASUSfreak oh yeah anything the grizzly can do and much more.
@@tcboffroad3206 Cool! Then I might buy the YXZ and not the RMAX lol... 😁
Obviously I love my YXZ but I’ve had to make several mods to get it where I want it. If your riding mountain type areas you’ll probably need to go with 70/30 gear reduction to make it more suitable for that type of riding.
nice video!
Talon driver letting up way too quick. Didn’t give the machine a chance! Tires not impressive either.
Kawasaki is a bad ass.love it
🏆🏆🏆😊🙏
Thank you for sharing
Hey ur welcome.
Good video
be cool to see a video with a mall wearing the same tires the true we see the comparisons
That stock exhaust has to go on yxz
Man I tell ya I’m just about modified out. lol
Surely the driver! I’m a 40 year old woman and mine goes through way worse stuff than that! 😂
Does that KRX have stock suspension with 35’s
In this video yes but he has recently upgraded to shock therapy springs.
Did Kawasaki not have taller tires?
Yes it did
What year and trans mods is the yxz ? Thinking of buying one for the same type of trails
2019 with 70/30 gear reduction and heavy flywheel.
@@tcboffroad3206 I guess the factory lower gear just didn't quite get it
I went with 32” tires straight from the dealer so the added tire size from 29” killed the factory reduction.
Did anyone else just want to jump in and take the wheel? No? Just me I guess.. 😂
The yxz sounds like a Polaris will all the transmission noise
Why didn’t you guys at least try to straddle that v notch?
Easier said than done but fortunately we drove right thru it..lol
Good video gulys
Thanks man.
Does the KRZ seem like it has good power for long steep climbs?
Its got enough for most climbs around here. But Its nothing like a turbo machine if your a hill killer
Roxxzillas's for the win
No kiddin...lol
does anyone know if that Kawasaki was stock? that thing is just much better
All stock besides wheels and tires
Thats my boy😁😁😁
These machines must break a lot...? Taller tires with less air, lockers and 9 beers......no problemo !
35’s and aired down tires help
That krx is legit!
