Cynthia, I am 70 years old, and have been working on the ukulele for about 6 months. Keeping my mind working hard. Checked out many of the youtube tutorials. You are by far the clearest teacher. I will watch everything you have and want to thank you for all your hard work.
If anyone here is trying to play the Cat Power version of the song (I feel like it's more popular than the original these days), then you just play the first 4 chords over and over. Great vid btw!
I am 68 years old and received a uke for my birthday. I have been watching your videos and working with my uke every day! Your instructions are very clear and I like having the chord charts when I play along with you. Thanks for all you do!
I bought my ukulele May 3rd for myself for my birthday on May 7th. I searched TH-cam for an ukulele tutorial, and there you were as one of the first options. I have not listened to another person, as you are the most wonderful teacher I could possibly ask for. I played 4 songs for my Poppa as a surprise for Father's Day in June. It was a shock to everyone! My niece plays and my Grandfather did too. He would have been so proud. I spend every day with you for about an hour and enjoy your concise easy to learn teaching skills, and your lovely, kind demeanor. Thank you so very much for all you do. You mean the world to me.
I agree wtih the comments. I discovered you after learning through other tutorials and you certainly the best. Very clear, and you make things look easy, not overwhelming like other tutorials. Also your choice of songs are exactly what I like. By the way, the flower in your hair is a great touch. Thanks so much
i just looked for this song and found your channel and immediately checked to see if you were still active and was sooo happppppyyyy to see you still are making videos. this was so helpful and the vibes are amazing, i feel like we are friends!sorry to be weird. im just really happy to find you i hope you see this and have a great day
Cynthia, you are the absolute BEST ukulele instructor EVER! I have been watching and following you for years. You bring fun, joy and so much clarity to your lessons. Your non-threatening and kind demeanor is wonderful. So appreciate all you do. Bravo!
Cynthia, I've been practicing ukulele for 6 months with just your tutorials. And I've improved a lot cos of you. No word to say how much I'm thankful to you. I WANNA TELL YOU I WANNA TELL YOU HOW MUCH I APPRECIATE TO YOU! xx
Wow, before this video I had no idea how to chuck or finger pluck. This was taught at the perfect pace to learn both! Hitting that subscribe button for sure and learning to read tabs will be next on my list 🙌
Hi Cynthia. Thanks again for all your hard work and fabulous tutorials. I wanted to ask where I may find one of you signature ukeleles.?. I'm im South Africa but can't seem to find them online .
hi, I have struggled for a while with the shifts from one chord to another. Your way of identifying the pivot finger is great and I haven't seen that done on other people's instruction. Thanks! Which one of your video's would be good for the Em chord? Switching from almost any other position seems to be a hunting exercise. I know that it can come from many other positions but let's start somewhere. lol Can't wait to practice this song. Singing it maybe another person's job as I am more of a baritone and a little flat. You have a beautiful voice. thanks again.
Hey Cynthia, you are amazing! In such a short time, I have come a long way thanks to you. You break down everything in such an easy way, and I am getting immediate gratification. Can I add a suggestion? I can work through a lot of your pieces, but I have trouble getting to your tempo. Obviously that means practice on my part. Sometimes At the end of the lesson, can you add a half tempo run through. This way we can work on that with you, then go back to the beginning for full speed. If it is too much, no worries, you have done enough already!!!!! Thanks for everything!!!!,
+Christina Ettorre aloha Christina! if you click on the gear icon in the lower right corner of the video, you can playback at half speed or 3/4 speed. super helpful feature!
Thank you for sharing the wonderful gift of ukulele music for us all. Please tell me, what is that a picture of in the background? I can never figure it out.
There's this song that I've heard finger picked on the ukulele called River Flows in You. I've heard somebody make some very beautiful lyrics for the Twilight movie that goes with this song and it's absolutely beautiful and I so want to learn how to play the song on my ukulele. But I've only been playing the ukulele for a few months and I haven't been able to find any good tutorials that really breaks down the song and shows me one pattern at a time because it's one thing to just read the tabs but it's another when you don't know the exact Rhythm to the song and you need someone that already knows it well to teach you. I hope that maybe in the future you can give us a ukulele tutorial for River Flows In You. I know that I would greatly appreciate it. I truly do enjoy your ukulele tutorials. I've learned a lot in the past six months I've been playing. And I keep getting better and better thanks to all of you ukulele teachers out there.
Thank you for this video Cynthia. I find the chord transitions is very helpful. I don't think you've ever covered playing E or B chords, my biggest problem. Would it be possible to do a tutorial on playing these chords. Thank you Tony K. North Wales
Hello! Thank you again for this video! When you do the chuck. Did you use the same fingers for strumming ( the first ans the 2nd finger) or all the fingers for the chuck? Thank you
Love the tutorials!!! Just an odd question. My class of middle school ukulele learners keep trying to figure out what is in the picture behind you. It’s driving them bonkers. Thanks for everything!
aloha to your class! the artwork is by Meejin Hong, and while it is an abstract piece, i see the texture as hair hiding someone's face. what do your students see?

+LIKAB055 I started out with a little Soprano too. I soon found, around the My Girl tutorial, that I should probably upgrade to a concert. I picked up a cheap Lanikai from Guitar Center (after testing out a few other options) and have been really happy with it. I agree she is BY FAR!! the clearest and nicest teacher on TH-cam

I really appreciate the way you demonstrate methods of moving from one chord to the next. I haven't seen anyone else do that. Thank you!

I love you.
Can you make a tutorial of PANIA OF THE REEF by FIJI SESSION SINGERS? pleeeeeeeeeeeeaseeee :3
❤
Links don't work, can't find the original
hello, bought a uke but it just does not ring out like yours are you using an electric uke?
Her ukulele might be different from yours
Ukuleles don't always sound the same
One of the reasons is different wood and different strings
Where do you get your flower clips? They are so cute!
You can find them in literally any convenience store in Hawaii
i tried to buy the chord chart and i put in all my information and paypal and it still wouldnt direct me to the page :((((
nantes getaway You don't have to purchase it. Click on the first link in the description box, scroll down the page and enter 0 in the box then 'I want this'. You'll be asked to enter your email address then you can download it for free.
With the chuck, my index finger tends to snagged on the top string and it hurts a bit.
you might be too low on the strings, strum around where the fret board meets the body of ur uke
:3* lovin it
thank u
I'll get a ukulele, I must do it
It might be helpful to you guys who find this key challenging to transpose it or wear tight trousers :)
you the best (L)
Nowhere to download the chord chart???????????????????????????????????????????????
There is a down arrow to the right of the title (at least on my screen there is;) try clicking on it and see what pops up.
i just realized you're not playing a soprano. starting to think i shoulda gotten a bigger uke as i have larger hands
+LIKAB055 I started out with a little Soprano too. I soon found, around the My Girl tutorial, that I should probably upgrade to a concert. I picked up a cheap Lanikai from Guitar Center (after testing out a few other options) and have been really happy with it.
