Hi. I do it similarly, but dont gut the fish first, saving time. However thats the best explanation of garfish filleting I have seen on YT so far. Good on you, keep going, enjoying your vid's.
we cook them gutted and fins chopped off all bones still in The backbone pulls out really nicely, and the ribs are so small you can chew them up or spit them out as you eat them just need to be a bit careful hahahah

Thanks! Looking forward to summer so I can catch some gar and get more practice at butterfly filleting :)
Great video. I've bookmarked it for future reference. We've never gone
after gar yet.
They are delicious. We generally catch them on float rigs with berley and gents. Mainly summer fish 😊
The skill of a brain surgeon !!!
well I doubt that! Still, I am persistent and that is what gets the job done :)
Nice gar...good video
Looking forward to warmer weather so I can catch some more and maybe get a vid this time 😍
I've never seen Gar's that big before. I've only ever caught little one's in Port Phillip bay. They look like they'd be worth chasing.
These ones are average size for the areas we fish. Looking forward to catching some more with warmer weather on the way!
Delicious!
It really was!
Love garfsh, use to dab for them at Kingston as a kid😁
No vid on catching them....
👍
No vid as yet. Warmer weather coming so I am sure there will be one soon 😉
@@fishingsister loving the vids, hope you keep it going👍👍👍
@@75bluey not stopping any time soon😄 I am obsessed..

Wow I wouldn't have thought that you could eat the ribs. Will try that!
It is easier to butterfly fillet them as a whole fish, head and guts intact, you just need a smaller filleting knife.
will have to try that!
